Great food and great service. One of the best Italian restaurants..
Beautiful restaurant but too expensive
Thought the food was Just good, not great. Had the special Osso Bucco. It was Ok, had better plenty of times elsewhere. The Risotto that it came with was not good at all. I thought the menu overall was overpriced for the quality of the food that I saw being served. I will say that it is not a bad place at all to go to, but I will not rush out to eat there again when I want good ITALIAN FOOD. The staff there was excellent and very accommodating to a party of 5. The bar scene was nice as they have live music and it looked like a bunch of regulars filling his jar. Not that lively but nice.
Pros: Not too crowded, good ambiance to have conversation, meeting or romantic dinner. Fantastic barstaff (look for Jamie).
Cons: My past dining experiences here have been so great I haven’t though of any yet.
Stopped in for dinner on a Wednesday evening after work. I made a reservation for a table however we noticed there was live music and something interesting on the TV at the bar so we opted to dine at the bar instead. We were promptly greeted by Jamie our bartender and another gentlemen who prepared a dinner placement for us at the bar.
The ambiance is mellow enough to have a conversation yet there is usually live easy listening music being played from the bar so there isn’t pure silence.
We ordered our drinks (Hendricks Gimlet) and were provided with a warm bread basket, crunchy bread sticks and the option of olive oil or pesto butter. We also ordered the caprese as an appetizer and veal and prosciutto saltimbocca for the main and full size Grand Marnier Soufflé as well as made from scratch Italian sorbet for dessert. The execution of the entire meal was great. The portion sizing is spot on and the flavors of the saltimbocca along with side of pasta perfectly complimented each other. The soufflé was the highlight of the night. Although a bit crisp on the edges still a delight especially since its hard to find a restaurant that serves a decent soufflé on their regular menu in LA or OC.
If anyone has soufflé recommendations please message me. I am a soufflé junkie.
The staff are very warm, personable, and efficient. They consistently check in on you as a friend would to make sure you are ok and not a task to the check off on their list.
I have dined here previously with family, and as a solo diner. All times I have had a pleasant
We had a wonderful dinner and dinning
experience last night. We had dinner in the bar and the music & singing was fantastic !
Our waiter was terrible. I brought my boss to one of my favorite restaurants and he was disappointed. Waiter might have been having a bad night, not good service. Never refilled water, never asked for second drink, never checked on food??? So disappointed. Won’t be back for awhile and definitely not bringing in business associates.
Another splendid dinner at Antonello's! Every bite was delicious and of the highest quality in substance, preparation, and presentation. I received the warmest welcome, and my waiter, Anthony, was courtly, professional, and friendly and assiduous without being intrusive (and I could extend this description to all the very kind and sensitive staff members). As two different first courses appealed to me, I ordered both, which he handled sensitively and appropriately (try the Wild Boar, everyone!). As I was just barely off a week of being under the weather, and this was my first post-illness outing, I was very appreciative of the warmth and easygoing graciousness found, as always, at Antonello's. I very much look forward to my next Antonello occasion!
always a great meal and excellent service. this is my go to restaurant in OC
Very pleasant atmosphere, staff and service is excellent. Take advantage of the sommerlier as our food was paired with a delicious Italian red wine.
Excellent food and service is just perfect. Best italian in oc
I have been eating at Antonello's for years and have always considered it a very consistent restaurant. Great food, service and ambience throughout the years. My go to spot for special occasions because I know they won't disappoint. I do not have an expense account for meals and have a limited budget for entertainment, so when I spend $ 300 on a meal, I feel it. I took my wife and son to Antonello's to celebrate my wife's birthday. It was my son's first time at the restaurant. We were seated in a side room at a table situated so the wait staff had to squeeze by to serve the other tables, so not the relaxed atmosphere I have come to expect. Food wise, everything was great up until the main courses. The veal was not good, period. The service was cordial, but so is the service at Buca di Beppo . I hate negativity and know the competition is fierce in the restaurant industry, but consistency is everything. If the food is not up to snuff, then the service and ambience better make up for it.
We loved Antonello Ristorante. We met the owner. He introduced himself to a lot of guests that night. Another couple had their wedding reception there many years ago and were celebrating Valentines Day as well.
Food was great. Service was outstanding.
We will definitely visit Antonello Ristorante again.
High caliber place serving a combination of traditional and innovative Italian cuisine. One of the best places to dine in OC. Antonello’s has never dissappointed.
Classic Italian ! Recommend to all .......
Great atomosphere, with great service. Nice live music playing in the background. The food was very bland, but overall great experience. We definitely enjoyed ourselves.
I have been a loyal patron of Antonello for over 30 years. All I can say is that is stands head and shoulders above every other Italian Restaurant in greater OC, and is one of the best I have eaten at across the country.
Antonello will fulfill your best expectations for authentic Italian, in an environment that is quiet, romantic and fun.
Just try it.
We dined at Antonellos because it has a reputation for great food. Only one problem. I had just received a Visa reward card for $200 but Antonellos wouldn't take it. The manager gave some excuse that their equipment was old. I didn't believe him. I put the meal on a personal card. It didn't occur to me to have ask if they accepted Visa reward cards. This was a first class restaurant with a low class card reader. Food was good, but I doubt I would return. I'm sure they won't miss my business.
Second time dining here. I had the sparerib Papparadelle and my companion selected lobster ravioli. We brought our own wine ($25 corkage fee). The food was excellent, however, I actually wanted to order a different entrée, but did not because of the rather high pricing. We will return, but not as frequently as I would like – again, because of the pricing.
Service is excellent. Lalo is fhr BEST!
Antonellos is one of the true gems of Orange County. Impeccable service, warm and welcoming staff are experts on the menu and food. Antonio Cognolo has done a remarkable job training his staff and Chefs. It shows everywhere. A wonderful night out for my wife and I celebrating her birthday!
Nice ambience, though Valentine's day decorations were a little tacky. Overall, food was good but not spectacular. Lasagna was well done, delicate, not too saucy or salty, Grand Marnier souffle was a surprisingly good alternative to traditional chocolate. Would have given higher rating but service was awful! Server was slow, ignored us, and didn't have courtesy to say thank you or really anything for that matter when handing us the bill.
Went to Antonello's for my wife's birthday. The service was wonderful with the sommelier recommending a reasonably priced pinot noir (Franks Family) to go with her veal and my chicken. Her Veal Saltimbocca was wonderful and the half chicken with a fig sauce, which I had my doubts about the sauce overpowering the chicken, was very tasty.
They gave her a dessert for her birthday and with a cappuccino ended a wonderful night.
Antonello's is expensive. It is also worth the cost. The service, food and ambiance is like you would find in a great restaurant in Florence.
WENT THERE FOR PRE VALENTINES SATURDAY NIGHT. IT WAS PRETTY LOUD WHERE WE SAT BACK ROOM OF RESTAURANT) MADE RESEVRATIONS SAMED DAY SO NEXT TIME I'LL BOOK IN ADVANCE.
SERVICE WAS GOOD, BUT FOOD WAS JUST OK....ESP. FOR PRICE POINTS
DRINKS WERE GOOD AND STOUT.
WOULD COME BACK FOR CASUAL DINING OR APPETIZERS AND DRINKS
I think this classic restaurant has changed over the years and the quality of the menu and food is not what it once was. It's still a great place to meet and dine in Orange County - but there are other restaurants with far better options and taste. The wonderful wait staff is still in force, just not the wonderful cuisine.
Always great service who are sensitive to theatre goers.
The service is always excellent and the food is outstanding.
I would tell all servers to slow down and not focus on table-turnover. It was very obvious we were being rushed. And with so many vacant tables there is really no reason for that. We always like the food and will come again. I think I will make it clear to my server about timing next time.
We had to wait 30 mins. For our reservation. Hostess rude. Oso buck dry; other entrees just okay. Menu items seemed to be over priced. Our waiter was good and knowledgeable. Have been here many times before but this was probably the last time. Very disappointing!
Waiter was fabulous
Antonello's continues to be one of my absolute Orange County favorites. I enjoy it with my local friends and often impress my out-of-town guests. It is the best!
AS ALWAYS, THIS WAS A WONDERFUL MEAL WITH EXCELLENT, ATTENTIVE SERVICE FROM HOSTESS TO WAITER TO BUS PERSON. WE BOTH HAD THE PORK CHOP WITH A SWEET SAUCE. THE PORK WAS SERVED WITH MASHED POTATOES, CARROTS AND GREEN BEANS. VEGETABLE WERE TENDER CRISP--JUST THE WAY I LIKE THEM. BE CAREFUL PICKING WINE AS THE WINE LIST CAN BE EXPENSIVE. IT WAS A WONDERFUL DINNER AND WE WILL BE GOING BACK! :)
Italian ~ food was delicious, nice vibrant scene. Right near South Coast Plaza area, easy parking or valet. Enjoy!
What a nice dining experience and excellent customer service!
There’s a reason Antonello’s has been around so long......dependably exquisite food and reliable service.
Good food and service - what more can you ask for?
New Year's Eve Dinner with friends was very nice. The restaurant was decorated for NYEve and looked really great. The food was very good, especially the Scottish Salmon and the lobster ravioli. The service was excellent, as usual, and the wine list was pretty broad and fairly reasonably priced. The Brunello we ordered was excellent. The only problem with the dinner is that a speaker was directly above our table, which was in a corner location, and it made any dialogue at the table almost impossible due to the acoustics. We endured the table but would not sit there ever again. Overall, dinner was very nice and the service was outstanding!
Made our reservation on Open Table, upon arrival, on time, the hostess immediately shunted us off to a cold, brightly lit, unappealing banquet room in the very rear of the restaurant. We objected and were brought, begrudgingly in to the main dining room where there were multiple empty tables. After that unfortunate incident the evening went smoothly.
It was our first time at Antonello’s. We found out about Antonello’s while we were done shopping at South Coast and were looking for Italian food. From the moment we walked in we were greeted warmly until we left. We ordered few appetizers and several dishes. Both lobster ravioli and rotelle were great. We also tried their specialty drinks and the tropical martini was nice and refreshing.
Been going for years and it NEVER disappoints! we drive 40 miles, just to eat there!
