Antonello Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
I have been a loyal patron of Antonello for over 30 years. All I can say is that is stands head and shoulders above every other Italian Restaurant in greater OC, and is one of the best I have eaten at across the country.
Antonello will fulfill your best expectations for authentic Italian, in an environment that is quiet, romantic and fun.
Just try it.
We dined at Antonellos because it has a reputation for great food. Only one problem. I had just received a Visa reward card for $200 but Antonellos wouldn't take it. The manager gave some excuse that their equipment was old. I didn't believe him. I put the meal on a personal card. It didn't occur to me to have ask if they accepted Visa reward cards. This was a first class restaurant with a low class card reader. Food was good, but I doubt I would return. I'm sure they won't miss my business.
Second time dining here. I had the sparerib Papparadelle and my companion selected lobster ravioli. We brought our own wine ($25 corkage fee). The food was excellent, however, I actually wanted to order a different entrée, but did not because of the rather high pricing. We will return, but not as frequently as I would like – again, because of the pricing.
Antonellos is one of the true gems of Orange County. Impeccable service, warm and welcoming staff are experts on the menu and food. Antonio Cognolo has done a remarkable job training his staff and Chefs. It shows everywhere. A wonderful night out for my wife and I celebrating her birthday!
Nice ambience, though Valentine's day decorations were a little tacky. Overall, food was good but not spectacular. Lasagna was well done, delicate, not too saucy or salty, Grand Marnier souffle was a surprisingly good alternative to traditional chocolate. Would have given higher rating but service was awful! Server was slow, ignored us, and didn't have courtesy to say thank you or really anything for that matter when handing us the bill.
Went to Antonello's for my wife's birthday. The service was wonderful with the sommelier recommending a reasonably priced pinot noir (Franks Family) to go with her veal and my chicken. Her Veal Saltimbocca was wonderful and the half chicken with a fig sauce, which I had my doubts about the sauce overpowering the chicken, was very tasty.
They gave her a dessert for her birthday and with a cappuccino ended a wonderful night.
Antonello's is expensive. It is also worth the cost. The service, food and ambiance is like you would find in a great restaurant in Florence.
WENT THERE FOR PRE VALENTINES SATURDAY NIGHT. IT WAS PRETTY LOUD WHERE WE SAT BACK ROOM OF RESTAURANT) MADE RESEVRATIONS SAMED DAY SO NEXT TIME I'LL BOOK IN ADVANCE.
SERVICE WAS GOOD, BUT FOOD WAS JUST OK....ESP. FOR PRICE POINTS
DRINKS WERE GOOD AND STOUT.
WOULD COME BACK FOR CASUAL DINING OR APPETIZERS AND DRINKS
I think this classic restaurant has changed over the years and the quality of the menu and food is not what it once was. It's still a great place to meet and dine in Orange County - but there are other restaurants with far better options and taste. The wonderful wait staff is still in force, just not the wonderful cuisine.
I would tell all servers to slow down and not focus on table-turnover. It was very obvious we were being rushed. And with so many vacant tables there is really no reason for that. We always like the food and will come again. I think I will make it clear to my server about timing next time.
We had to wait 30 mins. For our reservation. Hostess rude. Oso buck dry; other entrees just okay. Menu items seemed to be over priced. Our waiter was good and knowledgeable. Have been here many times before but this was probably the last time. Very disappointing!
AS ALWAYS, THIS WAS A WONDERFUL MEAL WITH EXCELLENT, ATTENTIVE SERVICE FROM HOSTESS TO WAITER TO BUS PERSON. WE BOTH HAD THE PORK CHOP WITH A SWEET SAUCE. THE PORK WAS SERVED WITH MASHED POTATOES, CARROTS AND GREEN BEANS. VEGETABLE WERE TENDER CRISP--JUST THE WAY I LIKE THEM. BE CAREFUL PICKING WINE AS THE WINE LIST CAN BE EXPENSIVE. IT WAS A WONDERFUL DINNER AND WE WILL BE GOING BACK! :)
New Year's Eve Dinner with friends was very nice. The restaurant was decorated for NYEve and looked really great. The food was very good, especially the Scottish Salmon and the lobster ravioli. The service was excellent, as usual, and the wine list was pretty broad and fairly reasonably priced. The Brunello we ordered was excellent. The only problem with the dinner is that a speaker was directly above our table, which was in a corner location, and it made any dialogue at the table almost impossible due to the acoustics. We endured the table but would not sit there ever again. Overall, dinner was very nice and the service was outstanding!
Made our reservation on Open Table, upon arrival, on time, the hostess immediately shunted us off to a cold, brightly lit, unappealing banquet room in the very rear of the restaurant. We objected and were brought, begrudgingly in to the main dining room where there were multiple empty tables. After that unfortunate incident the evening went smoothly.
It was our first time at Antonello’s. We found out about Antonello’s while we were done shopping at South Coast and were looking for Italian food. From the moment we walked in we were greeted warmly until we left. We ordered few appetizers and several dishes. Both lobster ravioli and rotelle were great. We also tried their specialty drinks and the tropical martini was nice and refreshing.
Antonello's is and has been my restaurant of choice for many years. Truly authentic Italian cuisine. Chef Gino prepares each dish in the time-honored tradition of the various regions of Italy to perfection. If you like true Italian cooking you will love Antonello's. Pastas are hand made in-house, try the Ravioli, perfect!
Overpriced. Has gone down hill significantly. In a town where there are many choices for fine dining, Antenello no longer had the quality of service, ambiance and food to stand out. For a place with $17 salads and the cheapest glass of drinkable wine was $18, the service was typical, the food ok, but not great. I won't be going back.
