Since 1980, Anton & Michel has consistently maintained an award-winning reputation for true excellence in the art of fine dining. A complete interior remodel in 2013 features handset stonework throughout and an expanded lounge. The floor to ceiling windows offer breathtaking views of the Court of the Fountains. Zagat Survey calls it “Carmel’s long-standing paean to graciousness in dining out". Very good food. Service was excellent. Set us too close to other tables when not busy. A little high $25 corkage fee. Thoroughly loved the eve.

We visit Carmel 2-3 times/year and were celebrating my birthday. Everything ran like clockwork, we were greeted/seated right away, the host acknowledged my birthday. Staff was excellent, our steaks were cooked exactly as ordered. All in all a great meal and made my birthday a special experience. We will be back.

We had our reservation for at least a month,but were seared right adjacent to the rear patio door. It was the very windy day and they kept using the door and we were very uncomfortable..we ordered the abalone, which was fairly priced, but had the black outer layer left on which tasted awful and was like eating a piece of over cooked tire. Who would think this could happen in such a nice restaurant! We will return as we have had many nice evenings there!

Last minute reservation for a Birthday Dinner. More than accommodating. Made the reservation for 5 pm and we were the only couple in the place. But about 5:30pm, the restaurant began filling up. The menu was excellent and had a hard time deciding (which is always a good thing). The lamb chops were to die for; however the cashew pesto was an acquired taste. But the banana foster was superb. They make it right in front of you. I will definitely return.

This has to be the best restaurant in Carmel. We were there for dinner and were greeted by the Maître D'Hotel Luiz Ferreira. What a wonderful person and very personable and professional. He led us to the table and told us the specials of the evening. He then left us alone to make our choices, The restaurant is next to a small courtyard and has a very nice ambiance and quiet. Our server for the evening was Carmella and she too was outstanding. The food was excellent with a varied menu. The wine list is excellent and one thing we in particular liked is that they have a large of half bottles so my wife had her white and I had a red. All restaurants should do this. Very memorable evening and one we will not soon forget. Thank you Luiz for making it so special.

Fairly casual dining atmosphere and service, but among the best Carmel has to offer. Our food was very good. There are special desserts offered, but we chose a simple lemon tart that was light after the substantial meal. Nice wine list. The window tables offer a view of a fountain courtyard. The bar is a more intimate, classy vibe.

Amazing meal. The wait staff was incredibly attentive. The table side Caesar salad was made to order and absolutely incredible! You know it’s good when you think, “I couldn’t have made it better myself!” The salmon and the rainbow trout and sides were both fantastic. Dinner was a bit pricey, but I felt it was worth it due to the attention and care given by the wait staff. Food was fantastic and wait staff was impeccable!!! 👍👍👍

Anton and Michel is a bit old-fashioned but in a good way. Attentive service throughout paired with fairly classic preparations, perhaps most notably the flambeed desserts (crepes suzettes, cherries jubilee, bananas Foster). The appetizer options included lobster ravioli that was exceptionally good. The rack of lamb is always a favorite but came cooked medium rather than "on the rare side of medium rare" as requested. That was really the only off-note of the evening other than some awkwardness about using the Open Table certificate. At first they declined to honor it until the new method -- a MasterCard gift certificate -- was pointed out. There should be no problem about this going forward.

Lovely, European style service, delicious food. Accommodated our vegetarian needs nicely! Great wine list and serene views of the outside patio. A most memorable meal and highly recommended!

The atmosphere was very nice. It wasn’t crowded for lunch. My special swordfish was delicious, but my husband’s Angus beef sandwich was tough, grisly & chewy. Server & manager attentive. Creme brûlée was tasty.

Our experience was very mixed - ahi poke was good, rack of lamb excellent, BUT paella was terrible!! it consisted of a large heap of overcooked, tasteless rice decorated with a few overcooked shrimp and clams. All frozen and zapped? not sure...
Espresso also terrible
Room is pleasant, atmosphere unnecessarily formal

Dreading my upcoming birthday I was in search for a nice restaurant to make my birthday memorable. What I loved the most was the wine list which included a variety of imported wines. The menu had something for all of us, from a wonderful salmon to the savory paella. The incredible service, from the host and our server, left me wanting to go back. I loved the ambiance perfect for a romantic date.

We have but one anniversary a year, so choosing a restaurant for a special occasion is a big deal. We decided to try Anton & Michel in Carmel. The reservation was made on OpenTable with the anniversary noted in the reservation form. Arriving, we were pleased to see a modern, comfy remodel of what used to be a dated decor. We were a bit surprised that the hostess did not mention our anniversary, nor did the server. It's nice for us to have the venue acknowledge our event. When ordering wine, the server did not know specifics about the wine we were considering, and did not get a more knowledgeable wine expert to assist us. We finished our entire meal without the server asking how the wine, salad, or two appetizers were. She only came by our table to silently refill our wine glasses. The experience was very disappointing. It wasn't that busy on a Monday night, with only about a third of the restaurant occupied.. The beet salad was mediocre, lacking a flavorful dressing and the beets presented absolutely plain on the plate. The ravioli and risotto were great.

A few years ago we frequently dined @ Anton & Michel. For no memorable reason, we stopped. We returned Sunday night with a dear friend from Napa who had recently lost his wife. We wanted to take him to a very special place. We couldn't have made a better choice. The food was spectacular but was out-shined by the service. Even though we had not been in the restaurant for several years, the hostess Tiffany recognised us and made us feel completely at home. Nick was our server. He was there when we needed him and not there as appropriate. He has a very enjoyable, bright personality. His service was impeccable. We look forward to soon returning to Anton & Michel.

This was not my first visit. I have enjoyed a couple of group dinner functions here. This was my first lunch visit, and I found everything perfect. The patio view was delightful. The dining room was cosy, despite the chilly weather outside. Great service.

We had a lovely evening. The Maitre d was most welcoming and gracious. We had a table overlooking the fountain and garden, away from the main dining area so it was quiet and felt very private. The waiter was also gracious and extremely knowledgeable about all the dishes. We split the beet salad, and then had the rack of lamb and filet - both perfectly done with incredible sauces and vegetables. We finished the meal with the Cherries Jubilee as a special treat for my husband’s birthday. I also brought a special bottle of wine and they explained that if we purchased another bottle of wine, the $25 corkage fee would be waived. So we ordered a split of the Roerderer champagne for $30 and had that with our first course.
All and all it was a perfect experience for a very special occasion.

Our first experience at Anton & Michel and it won't be our last! From start to finish, our dining experience was memorable. The service was impeccable, the food outstanding, and the ambience a delight. When we arrived we were promptly seated in a lovely window table with a view of the charming courtyard. Our waiter was pleasant and attentive, the beverage and food service prompt, and our meal was delicious! We especially enjoyed the table side preparation of our Caesar salad and the Bananas Foster dessert. I would highly recommend Anton & Michel for those who want a first class dining experience.

Our second visit. The first, two years ago, was superb.

The second was weird and sadly inconsistent with our expectations . The food and setting were wonderful. The service, ranging from the hostess who did not even glance at our reservation on her computer (she would have noted a birthday comment which, as a result, went unfulfilled, also, she did not leave a wine list), to a listless water boy who brought stale bread, to the uninspired waiter who fussed over two "local" tables and barely took decent care of us, was horrible.

No birthday recognition!

Either they were off their game or things have taken a sad turn for a restaurant that should be awesome given the prices and ambience.

Food, as noted, was very good. Eat in the lovely bar room near the fireplace.

My boyfriend and I decided to have dinner here to celebrate our late Valentines Day. I must say, the food was delicious! We had the pork tenderloin and the filet mignon. Our cocktails were great. The service was absolutely wonderful. Nick was our server, and we couldn’t have asked for anyone better. The rest of the restaurant staff were very attentive and polite. Definitely would recommend this restaurant to friends and family. Thank you Anton & Michel for a wonderful first time experience. We will be back!

Worst service I've ever received from the most rude waiter of all time. Argued with an attitude for several minutes. He brought us the wrong order but wouldn't admit he made the mistake. Never will go here again nor recommended to a friend.

We had the rack of lamb for two. Everything from start to finish was superb. The table side preparation of the Caesar salad, serving of the lamb, and the flambé dessert was wonderful and everything tasted delicious.

We have dinner at Anton & Michel every year when we go to the AT&T golf tournament. It is always a high-light to our stay in Carmel. It is a beautiful restaurant and the service is always excellent. This year our server was Terri and she was great - friendly and very helpful to our special requests. I had the special soup - cream of artichoke and my husband had the French onion soup which he always loves. We both had a filet and they were cooked to perfection. I had the au-gratin potatoes instead of fingerlings and they were delicious. We ended the evening with coffee and ice cream. It was a lovely evening and we are looking forward to our next visit - hopefully sooner than next February!

As usual, the presentation, food and service were great. Nick is awesome and remains our favorite server. Attentive, funny and yet not overbearing. This is our favorite date night restaurant. My only criticism is that the tables are pretty close together and it can detract from the dining experience when you have a really loud group or couple next to you. That's probably less a criticism of the restaurant than it is of some folks manners.

It was our 30th anniversary. We were seated as soon as we arrived. We were wished a happy anniversary by the waiter but nothing else. The food was good, the waiter left us alone much of the time. At the end, we noticed we were charged for a couple of before dinner drinks that we didn’t order. Waiter took bill and corrected it. I would definitely return as overall our experience was good. Just surprised about the drinks added to our bill. We only ordered a bottle of wine.
