Since 1980, Anton & Michel has consistently maintained an award-winning reputation for true excellence in the art of fine dining. A complete interior remodel in 2013 features handset stonework throughout and an expanded lounge. The floor to ceiling windows offer breathtaking views of the Court of the Fountains. Zagat Survey calls it “Carmel’s long-standing paean to graciousness in dining out". Along with updated and contemporary changes to the menus, ultimate table side service and spectacular flambé desserts remain. Our second visit. The first, two years ago, was superb.

The second was weird and sadly inconsistent with our expectations . The food and setting were wonderful. The service, ranging from the hostess who did not even glance at our reservation on her computer (she would have noted a birthday comment which, as a result, went unfulfilled, also, she did not leave a wine list), to a listless water boy who brought stale bread, to the uninspired waiter who fussed over two "local" tables and barely took decent care of us, was horrible.

No birthday recognition!

Either they were off their game or things have taken a sad turn for a restaurant that should be awesome given the prices and ambience.

Food, as noted, was very good. Eat in the lovely bar room near the fireplace.

My boyfriend and I decided to have dinner here to celebrate our late Valentines Day. I must say, the food was delicious! We had the pork tenderloin and the filet mignon. Our cocktails were great. The service was absolutely wonderful. Nick was our server, and we couldn’t have asked for anyone better. The rest of the restaurant staff were very attentive and polite. Definitely would recommend this restaurant to friends and family. Thank you Anton & Michel for a wonderful first time experience. We will be back!

Worst service I've ever received from the most rude waiter of all time. Argued with an attitude for several minutes. He brought us the wrong order but wouldn't admit he made the mistake. Never will go here again nor recommended to a friend.

Staff was very attentive, even though we booked the same afternoon. Had a very nice quiet table to celebrate a birthday. Service and food were excellent in every respect. Look forward to returning.

The facility is very classy and was a special place for a Valentine dinner. Our waiter was mature and professional, conversational and thorough. Our meals were both well-presented and delicious. Would definitely visit again, as well as recommend to others

I brought my wife for Valentines Day and we really enjoyed it. Great service and excellent food. They went out of their way to make it a special night. Large portions and fairly priced. I'll be back!

We had the rack of lamb for two. Everything from start to finish was superb. The table side preparation of the Caesar salad, serving of the lamb, and the flambé dessert was wonderful and everything tasted delicious.

We have dinner at Anton & Michel every year when we go to the AT&T golf tournament. It is always a high-light to our stay in Carmel. It is a beautiful restaurant and the service is always excellent. This year our server was Terri and she was great - friendly and very helpful to our special requests. I had the special soup - cream of artichoke and my husband had the French onion soup which he always loves. We both had a filet and they were cooked to perfection. I had the au-gratin potatoes instead of fingerlings and they were delicious. We ended the evening with coffee and ice cream. It was a lovely evening and we are looking forward to our next visit - hopefully sooner than next February!

As usual, the presentation, food and service were great. Nick is awesome and remains our favorite server. Attentive, funny and yet not overbearing. This is our favorite date night restaurant. My only criticism is that the tables are pretty close together and it can detract from the dining experience when you have a really loud group or couple next to you. That's probably less a criticism of the restaurant than it is of some folks manners.

It was our 30th anniversary. We were seated as soon as we arrived. We were wished a happy anniversary by the waiter but nothing else. The food was good, the waiter left us alone much of the time. At the end, we noticed we were charged for a couple of before dinner drinks that we didn’t order. Waiter took bill and corrected it. I would definitely return as overall our experience was good. Just surprised about the drinks added to our bill. We only ordered a bottle of wine.

Food was very good especially the desserts. Everyone went out of their way to make our dinner special. Perfect for a night out with clients or date night. Excellent menu and very nice staff. Caesar salad was amazing and filet melted in my mouth. Their rack of lamb was amazing as well.

Anton & Michel's was a great find when we visited Carmel. The service was professional, friendly and knowledgeable. The wine list was outstanding. The food was great (the shortribs were melt-in-your mouth!). Lobster bisque was very flavorful. Interesting combinations of ingredients. My wife and I sat next to the window that overlooked a courtyard with a fountain. It was nice while we enjoyed our drinks and dinner. We were very comfortable in this restaurant. The waiter was attentive without being obtrusive and we did not feel rushed at all but had to wait only a short time between courses. We look forward to dining at Anton & Michels the next time we are in Carmel.

Nice friendly restaurant with a really cool bar for a pre-dinner cocktail. We were probably over-dressed but we like to "dress" for dinner. We ordered the set menu for two and all dishes were prepared table-side. First, a fresh and tasty Ceasar salad beautifully tossed in fresh dressing and enough for four diners really! Second, we had the rack of lamb. OMG.....also finished table-side and we had five chops each that were meaty and tasty ....and served with delicious veggies. The server told us they were a good choice and she was 100% correct. We then had a choice of a flambeed dessert.....cherries jubilee or bananas foster...........again prepared table-side and we chose the bananas. It was a spectacle of preparation finished with a flair of sparks using cinnamon in the final flaming dish.
The service and the entire experience was wonderful and we would come back again when we visit Carmel.

Disappointing this time around. Have had a handful of wonderful dinners at Anton & Michel in the past couple of years but unfortunately our visit this past weekend was a bit disappointing. I would highly recommend asking for a table in main dining room and/or by windows. We have always been seated there but our last visit we were sat in the room off to the side of the main dining room and we felt as if we were sat there due to them being full that evening. However there were a few tables that sat opened the entire time we were there. Lighting also seemed much brighter than in the past not giving the restaurant that cozy, romantic feel. Food was also disappointing compared to the past. French onion soup lacked onions and flavor. In the past very flavorful. Rack of lamb was delicious however potatoes were disappointing. My husband had the NY. Very disappointing if you’re expecting a grilled steak full of flavor. There was no crust on the outside. Even if it wasn’t grilled it could’ve still had a nice crust from a cast-iron or pan. Desserts were also a disappointing.

I will say we have been to Anton & Michel a few times this past year for lunch and I would highly recommend it. We love dining outside and the food has been great.

This was our first trip to Carmel and we had a fabulous time! Our last night there we decided to eat at Anton and Michel. We arrived early, so there were just two other couples dining. We got to sit by this large glass window that had the most beautiful outdoor atrium. We loved watching the water fountain and looking at all the landscaping. For dinner , we decided to do a 3 course option that was offered. I had lamb and it was delicious, my husband had steak and said it was very good. I also thought the salad and dessert were good. The reason I gave 4 stars for service is because, we had about 3 different waiter's come up to us and they were confused and we were a bit confused. I understand having different wait staff do different things, but not when it comes to ordering and the menu. I would definitely not let this be a deal breaker, but wanted the Manager to know that one waiter wasn't sure what we had ordered and what our dessert options were ..... I highly recommend this restaurant for food and ambiance !

Food was average. Service was below par. After serving, no one came to ask how the food was or if we had any comments. The servers looked like they were stretched thin. After spending $240 for dinner for two, we left very disappointed.

We LOVE this place!! We came back for the second time in less than 24hrs! We had to have the mushroom risotto and the Crepe Suzette!! We shared the risotto the night before but, not today. No way
Just as the night before, the staff was friendly, very attentive and kind. If we have enough time we may even make it back again!! Don’t miss this delicious, wonderful beautiful place. 5 stars!!

We had eaten here several times for dinner and decided on lunch here one time. The french onion soup was very good and the salads were fresh and substantial.

The service is always top notch and the ambiance allows for a quiet, relaxing, non-rushed dining experience. Their wines by the glass are a good value and the lunch menu allows for a wide selection of tastes. Sitting by the windows overlooking the courtyard fountains just adds to the relaxing atmosphere.

The restaurant is a classic with excellent service, good food, and an ambiance that allows for an unhurried evening allowing for relaxed conversation. Our service was excellent. We often have the rack of lamb when visiting this restaurant. This one evening the rack came to the table more than medium rare and we mentioned it and the waiter agreed. without hesitation a new rack of lamb was put in the oven.

the wine selection is large (and pricey), but we have always been matched with a good bottle with our dinner and the selections have never disappointed.

Anton and Michels provided us an exceptional evening dining during our honeymoon! The atmosphere was beyond expectation as we found ourselves seated in front of large windows overlooking a scenic 'pond'. The service and kindness of the maitre de, Luiz, on a rainy evening to the waiter, Tahah, meeting our every need before being asked added to the quality of our evening. We enjoyed an amazing butternut ravioli as a starter that had a mild sauce, allowing us to fully taste the ravioli, salad that consisted of fresh tasting ingredients, a duck and salmon entree with sauces so light that accentuated the natural flavors of the selected course. We are eagerly anticipating our next visit!

We had a very nice meal. Lamb chops and short rib were both very tasty. The endive salad had great flavors and a nice crunch with the almonds. Presentation was beautiful. Kind of an expensive date but the food was good quality and service was excellent.
