Since 1980, Anton and Michel has consistently maintained an award-winning reputation for true excellence in the art of fine dining. A complete interior remodel was recently completed features handset stonework throughout the restaurant. The floor to ceiling windows offer breathtaking views of the Court of the Fountains. Zagat Survey calls it: Carmel’s long-standing paean to graciousness in dining out. Along with updated and contemporary changes to the menus, ultimate table side service flambé desserts remain. As quoted in the Wine Spectator, Anton and Michel is “probably the best dining experience in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea”.

    One of the best in Carmel! Their filet minion is reasonably priced and better than any steakhouse can offer. My husband had French onion soup and I had lobster bisque - both delicious. They also have nice fish, salad and pasta options. Service is impeccable! There is a full bar and the corkage fee is $30 (while some less elegant places charge $40!). Their ambiance is lovely for both indoor and outdoor dining.

    We found this place on the web. When we first entered we were greeted by a staff member that was happy to see us which was a pleasant surprise. We go out of our way to patronize the local eateries so to keep our local economy moving along. We were seated at a window table overlooking the courtyard fountain. Very pleasant indeed. The noise level was quite tolerable & the view while eating was extremely pleasurable. The food was outstanding to say the least. We’ll worth the prices even though we believed the wines were overly inflated. The entrees were price competitively & as I mentioned were outstanding. A perfect place for (our) date or special occasion.

    Made reservations here for a family night and the host surprised my family and I with the gorgeous courtyard dining area. Connor, our server, anticipated our every need which really carved out the amazing experience we had at Anton and Michel! Connor also recommended a great wine that paired perfectly with my salmon. I was very impressed with the service and enjoyed the courtyard, atmosphere, and food. I’m already planning a nice date night here next.

    Amazing lunch, from the second we came in to the moment we left! Sarah was our server, very knowledgeable and personable. We had the duck liver pate and it was out of this world! Thank you Anton And Michel! We will be back soon.

    Staff is attentive without being obtrusive, always a professional and positive demeanour. The Ahi Tuna Burger was cooked perfectly and the Duck Confit Salad was dressed lightly to enhance the flavours of individual components. The Lemon Tart Dessert fell a bit short - the plate presentation appeared like store-bought items put together. The ambience of dining here is enhanced by the beautiful outdoor pool.

    Pork was undercooked. Server said manager would come talk to us but never did. Instead they offered a dessert. Food was otherwise fine. Our low rating is simply because manager couldn’t bother to follow through. Btw, they were not busy.

    Lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff. Their cocktails aren’t well made at lunch time so stick with wine if you want more than a soft drink with lunch. The food is good but not spectacular. The chimichurri sauce that came with the steak salad was not edible, it tasted like puréed basil; however, the meat had good flavor was very tender and the salad was fresh.

    Have eaten here many time but yesterday was a bit disappointing. The atmosphere is lovely and the service was attentive and speedy. However, my go-to for lunch is the shrimp club sandwich and it seemed like they had changed the recipe from what I had before. There was a lot of tomato and could not taste or see the green goddess dressing at all. The sandwich bread, while perfectly buttered and toasted, seemed thicker than before and was harder to eat. My husband had the the French onion soup (his favorite Asian chicken salad is no longer on the menu) and it had an overpowering taste of rosemary. I'm sure we'll be back again, but will probably try other items on the menu.

    Supposedly one of the nicer area restaurants, but we found it lacking. Food was over cooked and nothing special. Waiters hovered too much that it did not feel private enough. Service is nice to have when needed, but literally 5 different waiters hovered over us. This seemed like a family owned restaurant as waiters chatted up certain guests, it was annoying as if the waiter was part of their seated group, when it was near by us. Expensive and not special. We are foodies and travel often. The Carmel scene was not up to par.

    Beautiful restaurant and ambiance. Very good food and wine selection. If you get the right waiter your experience will be top notch. We observed one very special waiter, a tall slim young man with a very charming personality and his table was treated so well with frequent check ins, special accommodations to split a salad and lots of pleasant chat. Ours however just didn’t want to be there and it was not a great experience for us in terms of service. Our waiter did the minimum service with no personality or manners. It was our 20th wedding anniversary dinner.

    Service was very good, waiter very attentive but not bothersome. Appetizers - duck liver pate, tomato halloumi and the heirloom tomato & basil soup were great. Filet mignon was excellent as was the salmon. The fricassee was good, the Itallian seafood fettuccine with chorizo was a bit disappointing as the chorizo was not the best. Portion sizes were good and presentation was very nice. The chocolate torte is very decadent and we enjoyed, I would not recommend the cream brulee (no flavor). I would recommend that you put Anton & Michel's on your list to visit.

    I had the Seafood Fricassee which was very good. However, my husband had the Rib Eye Steak which was extremely disappointing. It was an uneven thin cut of meat which resulted in half the steak being well done. He had requested medium. It was a gristly piece of meat with little flavor. We wonder if it even was a Rib Eye. In hindsight we should have sent it back.

    Had my 32 yrs anniversary there, the food, service, management was excellent. We were placed in the patio, they had a fire pit there and we had asked for another heater as well. We had order a small bottle of Groth. I had the pork chop and my wife had the seafood mix, for starters, we ordered the duck pate and the onion soup. I was already full even before the main course arrived. Since it was our anniversary, they also provided a chocolate cake which was exceptional. I will definitely come back and will bring along friends to enjoy such a unique restaurant!!

    The most fabulous food we have had in a long time. Onion soup was divine. I had Halibut and my husband had Seafood Fricasse. Truly fabulous. Service was perfect. Scenery was lovely. Honestly, don’t miss it
