Anton & Michel Restaurant
I gave several menus from restaurants we like to a visiting Australian uncle and he zeroed in on Anton & Michel. We enjoyed a fine meal and outstanding service. My wife's uncle absolutely loved his seafood and chorizo fettuccine, my wife her duck breast and me my rainbow trout.
We had a wonderful time visiting with our daughter and son-in-law. Lunch was delicious! Thank you!
Booked a Saturday night meal for one as a treat on a solo weekend retreat. I'm so glad I did! Service was delightful - friendly and knowledgeable.
The food was superb. It's silly, but the bread was good enough to ask for second serving. My duck was perfectly cooked (melt in your mouth tender), with a cherry sauce that wasn't too sweet. Even the cauliflower side was memorable - just soft enough with a tiny hint of char. My Pinot was great on its own, but really shone with the duck. I never order dessert, but did. (I trusted by then it'd be standout, and it was.) One of the nicest espressos I've had in the U.S. alongside a truly perfect sea salt caramel crème brulée.
Looking forward to going back someday with others so that I can try more. Well executed, Anton & Michel!
Great place! Very friendly staff. Great food. Great wines.
We really enjoyed dining there. The wait or was terrific.
Spent the day in Carmel with friends and had a lovely lunch at Anton & Michel. Anton & Michel is a quiet refuge from the crowds on Ocean Ave. It’s on Mission and 7th just across the street from the side of Carmel Plaza. We ate inside but there is also a beautiful outside patio where a waterfall flows that can be viewed from inside as well. They have a nice menu with something for everyone. There are appetizers, sandwiches, and full main courses, so there’s something for everyone. They also have a full bar, Service was efficient and friendly. We will definitely eat there next time we’re in the area.
Superb in every respect. The duck was fantastic. The service-the second best waiter I have had and not far behind #1. Extensive wine list. You will be pleased you dined here.
They should have a star
Beautiful ambience, wonderful food, attractively presented. Great for special occasion. Service a bit pushy on highest price menu and wine options, not knowledgeable about sparkling wine.
The food was just okay. Service was very good. Is it my imagination, or has Carmel become a retirement community?
Excellent food, service, and ambiance!
It was cold eating outside and there were no heaters on the patio. They were not very friendly to the dogs and it was a well-known poodle weekend. They were very surprised when we brought our dogs with us as did everyone else on the patio. After all, they advertised on the poodle day weekend page.
Service was absolutely fabulous. Food was very good
Love dining at Anton & Michel. Great atmosphere, food & service. Particularly like to order the 3 course, fixed price dinner for 2 which includes Caesar salad, rack of lamb & bananas foster or cherries jubilee - all prepared table side. Great wine selection. Warm bread. The GM, Luis, is outstanding.
Spectacular food in an upscale yet approachable setting, highly enjoyed our experience. We will definitely return, first off the decor and overall ambience is sophisticated yet doesn’t necessarily warrant a tie and jacket, smart business casual wear is fine. The staff is highly trained, extremely knowledgeable about the menu (and wine list) and a part of the experience, top notch training. They were attentive without being overbearing, it was noticed and appreciated. Now the food....decadent French influenced menu prepared perfectly and highlighted some of the ingredients found on the peninsula, very well done. I had the duck, which I will have again, and my wife enjoyed the salmon with a chimichurri sauce that was almost creamy (but obviously without cream), the texture was amazing! Our starters were perfect and fairly large portions actually (particularly for European inspired cuisine) and the we split a lemon torte I couldn’t get enough of...so good! Their garden in the back is beautiful, the incorporation of the elements with fire pits burning, fountains flowing, green succulents and flowers blooming sets the stage for a wonderful serene dining experience. We are already looking forward to our next visit, it was a great choice for our 11th wedding anniversary dinner. Thank you for the memorable evening. -AO
Excellent service, atmosphere, and food as well as a good location in proximity to the main downtown area of Carmel. Had a very nice window seat (highly recommend that you request a window seat) with a view of the outdoor fountain, flowers, and seating area. A cute, little humming bird kept fluttering around all of the flowers on the outdoor patio.
It was our anniversary dinner and we felt totally rushed. Our reservations were at 7:00 pm and we had finished dining by 8:15. Food was ok. Definitely not the restaurant we remember from years back.
This was an anniversary dinner for us, visiting Carmel from the east coast, and chose this restaurant from prior reviews - seeing mostly raves with isolated exceptions. Add this to the list of raves. Food, drink, ambience, and service were all superb. Every interaction was warm, friendly, and impeccably performed. Timing and presentation of every dish and drink were perfect. Flaming desserts and tableside Caeser salad all done so well and perfectly. we look forward to returning.
Absolutely outstanding cuisine coupled with exemplary ambience. The wine selection and the varied menu, along with their sunset special three course menu is wonderful. Our service was good, but not excellent. Our server got two of the cocktail orders wrong, but the food and the reasonable price points made up for the small imperfection. We’d most definitely return there any time we are in Carmel!
Excellent food and service. A great experience with a nice wine list. Not to be missed.
We thoroughly enjoyed the ambience and the service. The food was excellent and the wine list was outstanding.
I was overly disappointed by our treatment as I took a business associate and we were seated in a remote area, next to families with children (the only in the restaurant) despite us requesting another table; menus left on our table; we poured our own wine; the food was unremarkable and took a very long time to be served, despite the fact that the place was only half full.
When we mentioned our displeasure the manager replied that we should have said something earlier.
The food is amazing, service is impeccable. Nice night out, great ambience. Will definitely return soon.
I have been here many times over the years. The food is consistently great. My only criticism is that they didn’t give my boyfriend a special birthday dessert I was hoping for.
Excellent service, the trout was amazing, bananas foster created tableside was wonderful.
This was a special occasion and our expectations were high based on recommendations and reviews.
Service was at first slow, then impersonal, and ultimately felt disconnected.
It was a busy night, and it felt as such. The food wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t as fantastic as we had heard. Perhaps the experience would have been better if the service hadn’t put such a bad taste in our mouths to begin with.
We wanted to love this restaurant, but it didn’t live up to the hype.
We were seated by the horses and had a very lovely table chosen for us. Prompt service great choice of wines and of course a beautiful meal
Great, food, service, they are inviting and very professional, our best experience in Carmel
We both ordered the Seared Ahi Tuna Niçoise and while it was nicely presented, it was tasteless. We suspect the tuna was not fresh. This was a birthday lunch, which they knew through open table and you would not have known it. The restaurant did nothing. A disappointing experience.
Lovely place to have a great meal. Service is top notch.
Indifferent wait staff. Food not the greatest value.
This was a first-class dining experience, from beginning to end. The food was outstanding, and the service was more than impeccable. I asked if the chicken dish I wanted to order was boneless or bone-in. The waiter told me it was bone-in, and although I expressed disappointment, I ordered the dish anyway, as it sounded unusual. I told the waiter jokingly that I would have my husband cut it for me, as I wasn't very good at butchering and didn't want to soil my dress, and that as it was a Friday night, I wouldn't want to trouble a very busy kitchen staff. To my surprise, he took my remark to the chef, who took out all the bones and even cut the meat into smaller pieces. I was so pleasantly surprised that they would go to this extra trouble, but that is a hallmark of a truly outstanding restaurant, in my mind. It was absolutely delicious, by the way, a uniquely seasoned and perfectly cooked dish in every way. My husband couldn't stop raving over his seafood either. I absolutely recommend this restaurant for a superb evening out.
Had a great evening sitting outside on their dog friendly terrace. All food great! Lamb was highlight! Tenderloin serving was huge. Wine list and pricing very good. Had an amazing night
Very nice restaurant to dine at for our anniversary, food was very good, our server, sorry I can’t remember her may, was awesome!!! Yes I recommend, yes we would revisit!
Delicious food and good ambience. The wines were superb, especially the Tudor.
Wine list was weak and over priced.
Service was very nice.
Would recommend Anton and Michel.
The Salmon was dry and over salted. The waiter was very distracted by his other tables while telling us the specials..he had difficulty focusing on us which made my wife and I feel like we we're an inconvenience to him. The ambiance was cold,.it was our anniversary and was really hoping for a cozy low lit atmosphere.
The host was very kind. The wait staff was on their game (aside from the order taking). The appetizers and french onion soup were a home run.
If I go there in the future it will only be for a drink and appetizers at the low lit bar.
Outstanding!! Great service and food
