Since 1980, Anton & Michel has consistently maintained an award-winning reputation for true excellence in the art of fine dining. A complete interior remodel in 2013 features handset stonework throughout and an expanded lounge. The floor to ceiling windows offer breathtaking views of the Court of the Fountains. Zagat Survey calls it “Carmel’s long-standing paean to graciousness in dining out". Along with updated and contemporary changes to the menus, ultimate table side service and spectacular flambé desserts remain. I was excited about the food, but it was simply below average and not nearly worth the price. The service was attentive, but there were several language barriers that ended up with mistakes.

I was soooo disappointed in this restaurant. We came here from AZ for the US Open I looked up all of the best restaurants in the area and this one was at the top of the list. We even decided to eat dinner at 5:30 because that was the only time we could get. First thing that happened was our waiter did not take our drink order and seemed to disappear for a while until we asked a bus person to get us a cocktail. Then we finally get someone to take our order and we ordered an appetizer and our meal. I have eaten at many 5 star restaurants and if I order my appetizer they never bring all the food at the same time. I was very shocked by this. Then my halibut dinner was filled with bones from the fillet. My husbands lamb was way under cooked, we had to send it back. Our bill was $275 for a less then par dinner that should have been amazing. The next night we went to Passion Fish in Pacific Grove! It was Amazing service spectacular and the food out of this world. Price for 4 people $300. What a difference.

We enjoyed a very nice anniversary dinner. My wife had the filet and I had the duck breast. Both dishes were wonderful...but especially the duck. My wife had wished she had ordered the duck after tasting it! Service was fantastic as always at A&M. Very happy we chose this restaurant for our anniversary celebration!

A lot of our experience was not the restaurants fault, there were two tables next to us who did not know each order but decided to meet and talked in loud voices across the tables so we couldn’t really converse. We ordered a fillet to split and it didn’t have much flavor. The staff was lovely as is the restaurant.

Birthday dinner, could not have done it better. Food was delicious, service was 5-star, everything was absolutely ideal! And the bananas flambe was the perfect ending to an amazing dining experience!

Nice place. Didn’t have room for dessert but the starters were excellent. I had the tuna tartare and my husband had ravioli.

Main courses were okay but not outstanding. I had duck which was overdone but still tasted ok and a lovely cherry sauce. My husband had steak which again was okay but he preferred the steak he had elsewhere two nights previously which was cheaper and more flavoursome

The food was wonderful, and the evening would have been great had it not been for a table of 12 men that were seated in the small back room with us. They were loud, obnoxious, drinking heavily and using the "F" word over and over....you get the picture. All the guests seated around them were affected. I was quite surprised and disappointed that the management of the restaurant never addressed them to please refrain from cussing every other word (which was making me extremely uncomfortable) or to please behave like adult men rather than children. The whole evening was ruined. Not just for us, but for all the other people seated in that room.

It was our first time at Anton & Michel and we absolutely enjoyed the experience!

We highly recommend getting the following
from their menu:
1) Onion soup - so flavorful and we loved the melted cheese on top
2) rack of lamb and filet mignon - tender, juicy and cooked to perfection
3) creme brûlée for dessert - mouthwatering and delicious
4) wine - they have a robust collection!

Great ambiance and kind and very attentive staff.

It’s the perfect place for a special occasion or a date night. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Our daughter arrived with her infant and was made to feel very unwelcome. It was so bad that she was reduced to tears. This restaurant does not want children no matter how well behaved or quiet.

Everything was awesome. We can't wait to eat there again August 18. Rack of Lamb the best ever. Duck scrumptious abd so was the trout.

Was always my favorite restaurant. Got engaged here 33 yr ago. Was disappointed that it is really not French anymore. We used to get tornados of beef with bernaise sauce, no longer offered.

Asked for sand dabs, dinner portion, but would have been nice if I was told it would be $45, plus I could only eat half of it. But it tasted delicious.

Not at all a Salmon lover, so menu was limited.

Not sharp. Food or service. We were there for lunch. It was like they didn’t want to be open. It used to be first rate. Now old and tired.

This is a very nice restaurant. Steaks and their rack of lamb are their specialty. My husband had the salmon and I had the halibut and they were both excellent. They offer half bottles of wine which is perfect for us since we only like one glass each but their wine list is fantastic. Definitely you have to make reservations in advance. This is a very nice restaurant great for a celebration or date night. Parking is difficult so plan to drive around a little.

Another excellent dining experience! The folks here aim to please and hit it on the mark every time. We had the mushroom risotto appetizer and it was one of the best we've tasted. Our steaks were cooked to perfection and dessert made table side was again, a wonderful treat. Thank you, to the chef and staff. We look forward to visiting yet again the next time we are in Carmel.

Very classy romantic restaurant. The food is always delicious. We especially liked the Hawaiian tuna tartar, duck breast, and Kibe beef spare ribs. The ribs was boneless and so tender. But the crowning glory was the flambe dessert. We had the bananas foster last time we were here so we tried the cherries jubilee. Delicious and entertaining. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Somewhat rushed in the checking in process. The steak was good, but I've had better $46 steaks. Fettuccine past was very good but overall meal was something to be desired. Presentation was very nice. It was a bit loud for a romantic date, but would be a nice casual Saturday outing if you have the money. Only checked on once to be given the check.

It had been a couple of years since we last dined at Anton & Michel. Although there was a large corporate group in the next section, there was virtually no noise from them and our food and service was outstanding. One very positive thing is that there are now plenty of moderately priced wines either by the bottle or by the glass. In the past, you had to search the wine list for a wine that wasn't going to break the bank! It is one of our favorite Carmel restaurants and we will definitely dine there the next time we visit.

We have been going to Anton & Michel for years when we visit the area. It has been one of my favorite Carmel lunch spot since the 80's. I have to say that it seemed a bit old and tired now. We sat outside by the fountain which was lovely. Our server, and bus boy, didn't seem like they liked their jobs very much. The menu wasn't very inventive and the items weren't described well. I did have an okay salad. Our meals were certainly edible just nothing very spectacular. I will probably look for someplace new the next time I'm in the area.

Such a great experience from start to finish! The hostess was very sweet and accommodating. She lit the fire pit before we even asked, which was very considerate of her. Our server Tiffany was incredibly gracious and made us feel so welcomed right off the bat. Our server assistant was very attentive and made sure that we had a clean and comfortable atmosphere throughout our whole experience!

Food was delicious of course, wine list is impressive, and the dog friendly patio is probably one of the best in Carmel.

Our 5 star PLUS dining experience started at check-in with Luiz. The instant warm hospitality made you feel welcomed. Then to add a cherry on the top of our dining experience, we were blessed with Victor as our server. He was top shelf and performed a special task that was miraculous and memorable. Our appetizer choice of tuna avocado was inhaled and we were tempted to order another one because it was deeeeeee-licious. The rest of the meal was very enjoyable. Last, but not least, we got to see Luiz perform a fire show. He choreographed without music, the art of preparing a crepe suzette!!! We will be back!

Outstanding. Everyone went all out to make our very special celebration all it should be. Thank you to Maître d’ Luiz and all of the wait staff and kitchen. They made you feel like one of the family. We will of course be back soon. Thank you so much! :)

We were here early in the evening so there were't many other diners yet. We had an excellent table next to the window overlooking the fountains. Very nice atmosphere. Service was excellent. Very attentive server and he made a recommendation for my dinner which turned out to be the most delicious tenderloin I've ever had. Seriously. We both ate every morsel on our plates. The location is convenient to the Sunset Center, which we walked to after dinner for a concert. Overall, at wonderful experience and we will definitely come here again.
