Anton & Michel Restaurant
Birthday dinner! They were expecting myself and my husband. We had a fantastic table for 2 along the window with a charming view of fountain and outdoor aesthetics. The inside was elegant yet comfortable. The servers were attentive and friendly. We enjoyed the grilled artichoke as well a a delicious bottle of Russian River Pinot 2013! Dinner was amazing. I had the salmon and he had the braised short ribs. Both entrees cooked to perfection. The creme brule did not disappoint.
We had not been to Anton and Michel's for years and based on some reviews decided to give it a try...big mistake. The restaurant has been remodeled and is updated and very nice, with a lovely
view of the outside pool and garden area. The service, however, was very poor. We had to ask twice for water, and our entrées of paella had been sitting in a warming oven way too long.
No one came to the table to ask how our meal was nor was any remark made as to our unfinished
plates. Very great disappointment.
From the moment Luiz welcomed us at the door, to when he wished us farewell, everything was superb! The ambience, the service and the food. We enjoyed the lamb and short ribs were amazing, As was newly crêpe Suzette made at the table. I highly recommend this restaurant, and plan to return again.
Sterile atmosphere tables close to each other food was fair and had too wait for server to clear plates after finishing both starters and main course
This is one of the best restaurants I’ve been to in the area! Great staff, amazing food, and very healthy portions!
Great service, great food! Rack of lamb was by far the best I ever had!
Our Honeymoon. The staff was excellent. Food was delicious. I highly recommend.
Food is average but ambiance is nice and pleasant. Service was good. My only complain is we asked for simple olive oil and the chef sent us a vegetable oil from the kitchen instead and when I asked this is not olive oil, they said is not because we don’t have olive oil our chef is French😄😄😄at least have a decency to say we don’t have olive oil. The food or presentation didn’t have a touch of French cuisine. Will not go back.
It was a nice restaurant. The staff was very friendly. The food had good flavor but it wasn't cooked well - I ordered a steak medium-rare and it came out well-done. My mom ordered the chicken and it was dry.
We ate on the patio and Jake, our dog was with us too.(Yes pet friendly)
The food was excellent and semi pricy. $160 out the door with 1/2 bottle of wine.
Nice people & great atmosphere.
All around fantastic - service, food and atmosphere were wonderful! Elegant, without being overly pretentious. Awesome wine list, and very knowledgeable staff. We can’t wait to return!
while we have had positive past experiences at this restaurant our latest was a disappointment. The food was uninspired and there were long service gaps between courses...
A favorite for over 30 years. We like to return and bring new guests. The service is always impeccable and food is delicious. The wine list has good choices for those in the know.
Renee, our server was attentitive without being obtrusive.
Our food was delish and well presented.
I have dined at this resturant before and Luiz always gives me a very friendly greeting and welcomes me back.
The food is absolutly the best!
The ambience is so very special!
Our waiter Mircea did an outstanding job and made our visit wonderful!
Birthday nice service but not particularly focused on us as much they were on other tables
Overall a good experience but I do have to say there are other options in the same price range in Carmel that I prefer.
My husband and I came here for our 10th anniversary dinner, leaving our son at home in the Bay Area for the weekend. I had booked the reservation 3-4 weeks ago, then cancelled and re-booked it last week with an OpenTable certificate ( drop in the bucket relative to the bill total) tied to the reservation. I don't know if I lost seniority in the process, as my request for a special table was denied. We arrived for 6:30 and were offered a table alone in an empty room with no view that was expecting a large party, or a couple tables in an adjacent room, but not in the prime room with the windows to the court of fountains. We reluctantly settled on one of the latter, as I noticed at least 5 empty tables in the desired room, 3 of which remained empty an hour later at 7:30pm, and the last one filled finally at 8:10pm. I was angry. The maître d' had blown me off when he seated us. Thanks but no thanks. That aside, our waiter was very professional and attentive. We shared the artichoke and the beet salad, then had short rib and filet mignon, and the bananas foster, which was nicely presented. We'll spend our next special milestone elsewhere given how I felt here.
First time here, part of 4, for lunch. We had the small salad, then shrimp sliders, lamb sliders - both excellent, accompanied by some of the best Bloody Mary’s we’ve had, and a wonderful crepe brûlée we shared for dessert. Pedro gave friendly, professional service. Definitely worth a visit!
Seated ahead of reservation, very attentive service & great meal.
Duck pate appetizer was amazing!
We came to restaurant and loved the location. The starters were excellent, we had the Halumi and Tomato and Artichoke. The main lamb course was phenomenal, but the salmon was over cooked. When the waiter asked if everything was ok, we mentioned this but didn’t action. After that the service went downhill. We requested two desserts and only one arrived and when we asked the waiter for the other dessert it never did come. Disappointing service and overall came away disappointed.
First off the service staff is fabulous. Our server was energetic, enthusiastic & happy to be there.
The ambiance is lovely.
Unfortunately, I have nothing more positive to say. I ordered an old fashion from the bar & had to send it back. Then I played it safe with a vodka tonic. It was only ok. Another person sitting close by sent back her champagne, then ordered a rosé that she barely touched. Avoid the bar.
The food was just okay.
I really would not recommend this restaurant.
Had the special 3 course meal. All prepared at the table. Caesar salad, rack of lamb, choice of four flaming desserts, we chose cherries flambé. Other than wanting a little more "punch" to the Caesar, totally outstanding. And a good value with a 15% discount given to guests of select local inns. Very romantic; unfortunately had a family with unbridled noisy children next to us for the last half of the dining experience.
Very good food, although not cheap. Excellent service. Nice location in Carmel, with courtyard view and good ambience.
We've been coming to this restaurant for special occasions since it opened 38 years ago; it is consistently excellent in quality of food and attentiveness of service, and is set against a wall of windows looking out on a charming courtyard and fountain. We especially like the table-side preparations (Caesar salads, flambe desserts, etc). The staff changes from time to time, but management has been successful in finding professional, courteous and friendly wait-staff all these years. I usually (as I did this weekend) get the rack of lamb because it's always flavorful and juicy. The potato casserole that comes with it is only so-so, but the fresh steamed veggies are crisp and tasty. Excellent bread! My husband enjoyed the fresh wild salmon - a healthy portion also cooked exactly as he asked. We enjoyed an appetizer of duck pate and brie, served with cornichons and marmalade, with crostini. We're not fans of foie gras, but the duck pate was excellent - wonderfully smooth and seasoned perfectly. For dessert we can't resist splurging on the Bananas Foster - so good!! I recommend this restaurant to anyone who's celebrating something special, even if it's just a chance to slow down a moment to enjoy an excellent meal in a beautiful surrounding. Sometimes that's reason enough...
Great service...rack of lamb, Kobe short rib and the sea bass special were all very good dishes. Had the Bananas Foster for dessert, too. All yummy!
Anton & Michel is always a great choice. The menu is varied and we always find something we like. The specials are worth a try as I have had really good luck with them.
We were celebrating our 50th anniversary. We couldn’t have picked a better place! The food was delicious; the service was impeccable; the ambience was lovely! Kudos!
Everything was fantastic. It was our anniversary and we loved it.
Anton & Michel is always excellent. For a lovely lunch on the patio, it's the best place to go on a beautiful day. The service is attentive without being overbearing, the food is exquisitely prepared, and the menu choices have something for everyone ... creative salads, excellent French onion soup, delicious sandwiches, and some wonderful entrees for the heartier eater. If you're fortunate enough to have dinner at Anton & Michel, you will not be disappointed ... same gracious service, same fabulous food, plus an atmosphere that's perfect for everything from a family get-together to a quiet romantic interlude. And always ... you will be warmly welcomed.
This is a high end restaurant with excellent food and service. One jarring note was the poor quality of the glassware used for wine service. It was clearly not up to the level of the high end wines.
The service and asthetics were phrnomenal!!! We changed the reservation twice and the host was super friendly and welcoming, serving staff also did an excellent job! The duck was great! But the paella wasnt the best :( it was still great food though! Id defentiely want to go back
Food is delicious. Lamb chops were the best we’ve had anywhere.
This was our second visit to Anton & Michel and we were not disappointed. The meals were fantastic and had service to match. We will definitely be back again on our next visit to Carmel.
We went for a random dinner on a Thursday. Decor is old, I ordered a filet. Quality of meat was perhaps one of the best ever presented to me. Preparation was lacking to say the least. Partner had lamb chops and said they were delicious. Tiffany, our server, was the highlight of the meal for me.
Great experience. Everything prepared at table side. Caesar salad, rack of lamb and cherries jubilee were all delicious. Owe of fountain in courtyard added to our enjoyment.
Beautiful restaurant. Service was very attentive. Food was good.
The restaurant was in a nice setting with a beautiful patio. The wine list was decent but lacked wines by the glass so we opted for a 1/2 bottle instead. The wait staff was amazing, but the food was mediocre, nothing bad but nothing great. For the price point of the food, you can find other restaurants that may surpass this one.
Service was great. Ambiance was fabulous. Our meals were just okay. I had the lamb-it was a little over cooked and the flavor was underwhelming. It wasn’t bad it just wasn’t great. My husband got the fish special and it was bland. The duck patè was amazing and the caramel creme brûlée was great too.
