Anton & Michel Restaurant
We were seated at the last table next to an exit door with a view of the fountain which was nice but after a while there was a cold draft which made her uncomfortable and they had to move us into an interior room next to the fire. Overall the experience was good but not up to what we paid.
Sunset dinner includes soup or salad, entree and dessert. Quality of food is excellent, presentation is appealing, wine list offers a wide variety, and service is outstanding. Our server, Rene, and his assistant were over the top!
First time visit and was very satisfied. The reception and serving staff were friendly and attentive. Menu and food quality was very good. Will return.
Good service, ok lamb chops. We were there 5 to 5:45 pm
An amazing evening! From the moment we walked in the door we had absolutely spectacular service. Glorious food. Since our visit i have told 5 or 6 couples!!
The best part about the night was the host. He was amazing and very accommodating more so than our waiter. My mom is disabled and he made every effort to help. He also checked on us during the meal. We asked for a steak to have a crust and the waiter said they didn’t do that. The cut was rather thin for a filet. It was ok but not fantastic for the price we paid. We also had the bananas foster. Maybe worth $20 but not 30. I was hoping for elegance and being cared for for the $170 I spent. I will not go back. I didn’t see anything on the menu that said local or organic either.
Excellent meal! Mushroom soup was outstanding. Loved my halibut entree with fresh pineapple salsa...had just the right amount of heat. Maitre d' Luz(?) was very attentive, with spot-on wine recommendations.
This restaurant exceeded our expectations. It is definitely elegant but definitely not stuffy. I had salmon while my hubby had the pork tenderloin, both delicious. We ended with Bananas Foster, prepared with flare at the table. A beautiful restaurant, wonderful service and great food made for a special evening. The fact that it was our anniversary was acknowledged by the hostess when we arrived, by our server, and yet again when we left - well done, Anton & Michel!
25th wedding anniversary
Beautiful setting, excellent food, outstanding service. Anton & Michel has it all.
Meal was great! Service was great! It was just freezing in there so we were uncomfortable
There was a really loud guy behind us that was eating and drinking with his wife, and made friends with another table, and they were really loud. Other than that it was wonderful and quiet. But the loud guy really affected date vibes. Our server was really really really really cool and awesome, it was clear he loves the food and his job.
Food and service always exceptional. Our favorite spot in Carmel for a special evening.
Soup was great. My wife’s lamb was good and tender. I had mahi special which was bland and over cooked. Cherries Jubilee was nothing special. At these prices, i expect much better food. We cook better at home.
My wife, 2 adult daughters and I went there for Christmas Eve dinner. The restaurant had been recommended by a friend who may or may not have been there before. The reservation was made about a week in advance give or take a day. Our table was right next to where they park all of their flambé carts were parked. Not exactly great. My wife ordered the abalone appetizer for her entree, the girls ordered filet mignon, and I ordered sea bass. The filet was excellent, the abalone surprisingly mediocre, and my sea bass was mishandled. It was pan seared on one side and oven finished, I think. The seared side was very leathery. In retrospect, I suspect the dish was partially prepared in advance to be later oven finished once ordered. What ever the case, it was very disappointing. On top of that the 3 cheese polenta had one very leathery side. The abalone appeared to have been deep fried after an egg wash. The preparation was uninspiring. This is such a rare, delicate meat that it seems a shame to do anything other than gently sauté with lemon and butter.
The service was friendly and our waiter seemed very experienced. However the service was inattentive at times during the meal. Desert was again, uninspiring. Already, I can't remember what it was. So to summarize: Nice ambience. An expensive meal, and good if you order the filet mignon. Service is good but not great. A little below average if you like seafood. Would I go there again? Not until I have visited several of the other well rated restaurants in town.
The food was average for fine dining. It seems like the restaurant may have been very popular in the 1980's. They have updated the decor but the overall vibe is very dated. The seating arrangement was surprisingly bad. They offered us a choice of sitting at the worst table in the house or we could wait for our reservation. We waited. But why would you even have a table that is considered the worst in the house?
My family of 4 adults really enjoyed our Christmas Eve dinner. Everything was delicious and the service was great. Tiffany was our server and she was charming and gracious during a very busy evening. I loved the porcini halibut with mushroom sauce, one friend loved her lobster tails on fettucini, the rack of lamb was pronounced excellent and my partner loved his paella. He has eaten it in Italy and Spain so he knows how it should taste. Thank you, Anton and Michels, for once again giving us a wonderful holiday meal. This is the 3rd time we have been there for Christmas.
Christmas Eve was rather disappointing. Food was fine, but the service and drinks were lacking.
Regrettably A&M failed to deliver on it's promise of fine dining. Even allowing for the fact that it was a holiday meal, at those prices the food should be of better quality and more attractively plated. We had the Halibut and the Duck, both no better than home cooking. The sauces were particularly disappointing displaying lack of cooking time and effort to make them flavorful. The vegetables were also ordinary without flair or any creativity. Service while adequate, was not up to professional quality. Overall a poor value.
Every year dad and I enjoy Christmas Eve at Anton & Michel's... always perfect.
The service is so accommodating but the meals are unbelievable...never, ever disappointed...thank you..
Always, enjoy diving there.
We'll be back.
Enjoyed our before sunset dinner. Trout was not dry and steak was cooked medium rare as ordered. The lemon tart was disappointing with a dry graham cracker crust and a lack luster lemon flavor.
Fantastic food and service would bring me back but it’s loud...really loud.
Luis' service was outstanding. Made sure all requests were taken care of and we were happy
The food and service were wonderful as usual. The Anton and Michel staff just do it right consistently.
Caesar salad prepared table side was the best I’ve had. Our server Giuliano gave us outstanding service and anticipated our every need.
An enjoyable and memorable dining experience.
Another fantastic experience at Anton & Michel, food is always amazing, and the service is spot on!
I would say we had an average experience. However, they bent over backward to provide excellent service. The salad was overdressed. My steak was cooked to medium rather than medium-rare as requested (but my husband's was served as requested). I would like to return and try the bar menu which was more appealing to me. In conclusion, the food was very average but the service was very attentive.
Extraordinary experience. From Luiz to servers. French onion soup better than we've had in Paris
My husband and I have walked by dozens of times and always wanted to try it. We were celebrating our birthdays and were looking forward to a romantic dinner. Oops we picked the wrong night, there was a party of 45 there for a Holiday dinner.
We will try it again though and not get the lemon tart, not good.
We enjoyed dinner before an event at the Carmel Sunset Center. It was great evening.
Excellent for larger groups or intimate dinners. Class act all the way.
one of our favorite restaurants in Carmel for a beautiful, quiet and refined atmosphere where you can have a romantic dinner or good conversation with friends. sadly, the quality of the food has fallen off from quite good to mediocre. i hope they pick up their game in the kitchen.
This was our 3rd time dining here in the month we've visiting Carmel from NC. It's become one of our favorite places -- ambiance, service and food are as good as it gets. I'm a fan of sand dabs, and have not had better anywhere else. We look forward to coming back next year!
Wonderful warm service. Great food with rare desert; banana fosters flamed table side. Very cool.
This restaurant was definitely much less than average. The ambience was pretentious, and the waiter was fawning in an artificial manner. Most importantly, our fish dish arrived at the table less than 10 minutes after ordering. It clearly was 80% prepared in advnce, hardly the mark of a restaurant that claims to be so upscale with four stars and very expensive. The most serious shortcoming was that the vegetables arrived cold on s lukewarm plate. I would not recommend this restaurant.
We had a lovely dining experience here for Thanksgiving. We arrived a little early and they were able to seat us a little ahead of our reservation which was very nice. The service was excellent and all the staff very professional and friendly. The food was delicious. Will certainly be back.
Great Thanksgiving dinner.
Wonderfully delicious Thanksgiving dinner with terrific service.
Delicious Thanksgiving luncheon. Everything was great.
