Anton & Michel Restaurant
Terrific service and very good food. Excellent wine list.
Went on a Sunday evening so it was quiet and slow ,which was great for my wife and I, as we had attended a wedding the evening before so it suited our needs.
Our waiter Nick (?) was attentive and great company but not intrusive.
Our starters were tasty and well presented , our mains were fantastic .
Our deserts were excellent.
It is pricey but I consider it fair, as everything from the hostess , bus-boy(man in this case),waiter and chef is an acquired skill ,trade/profession and should be paid as such if they execute properly and the food measures up.
I will dine here again and to be fair I will choose a busier night to do so as that can have a profound effect upon the experience. That being written we were extremely satisfied with our first visit.
Very pleasant ambiance, food good but a little dated
Anton & Michel has consistently served excellent food, with excellent service. Of added benefit, the corkage is waived with the purchase of another bottle, and the half bottle of champagne counts. So order a half bottle of champagne for the two of you as an aperitif and the corkage of that special bottle you brought is waived.
Staff attentive with helpful suggestions. Delicious opa fish special. Salmon too. Bread fresh. Chocolate cake dessert with raspberry sauce excellent. Quiet on a Wednesday night which was perfect for quiet conversation.
Second time going there and both times were excellent. The interior of the restaurant has a very classy yet
Comfortable feeling to it!
Now onto our meal... the gnocchi appetizer was outstanding,, salmon and waggu beef short ribs were excellent, great salad as well. Try the Cherry Jubilee or banana foster for dessert! Will definitely go back again when in Carmel!
I struggled with giving FIVE stars. A primary reason I dropped to a 4 was a member of the wait staff seemed a bit gruff with my party of 4. Our main server Talal (spelling?) was over the top wonderful -- attentive, informative, and delightful in tableside preparation.
However, we requested coffee from a coworker of his, who had assisted Talal with our tableside prep and serving. The coffee didn't come, so we re-requested. He brusquely told us there was only espresso. I'm not aware of anything we 'did' in terms of violating decorum or him, but am concerned about the demeanor.
One other GREAT thing - the maître d’ was aware of the requests I had included in the notes of my reservation -- and fulfilled each one!
2 in my party had the lamb for 2, another had bass, and another duck. The Caesar salad (tableside prep) was extraordinary as were the entrées. The wine -- variety of price points and a huge selection. We all had Bananas Foster (tableside). SOOOO good!
Great atmosphere, good food but service was not top notch.
Such a lively fun ambiance, with live music and the singing chef was an added wonderful surprise.
Service was very good, food good, great table looking into the courtyard. I requested olive oil for my bread and they brought runny vegetable oil, it was gross. Bread stale, halibut was excellent and filet mignon excellent. Interior of restaurant very nice.
This was our 3rd year in a row celebrating our wedding anniversary at Anton & Michel. Service is always impeccable and the food is excellent. This was our 2nd time ordering the Classic Dinner for Two and it was delicious -- the Caesar Salad, the Rack of Lamb, and Cherries Jubilee were all outstanding. We will be back!
The service was impeccable
It wasnt the best place to include a toddler because it is quiet, felt bad that my 2 year old could not adhere to the quiet ambience. He was tolerated though. More of a date night, no children spot.
Lovely food & service and we had a lovely evening at this restaurant
Anton & Michel remains one of our favorite restaurants in Northern California. Have lost track of the number of times we have dined there and have never been disappointed. We always have dinner there on the Sunday night after the Pebble Beach Concours.
Before our guests arrived, my husband and I had a drink in the bar. The bartender and cocktail waitresses were so much fun. We had a blast. Several of the guests had Paella for dinner. It was delicious and the waiter was most accommodating by asking the cook not to over stuff the plate with a lot of rice as most restaurants do. Our waiter was also soooo much fun. We had a great time and when we come back to Carmel, we will definitely dine at this restaurant. I recommend it highly. Great wine list. They had my favorite - Rombauer Chadonnay, 2016, which was a great year for this wine.
First time back in about 5 years and everything was great. Will be back next month
I had trout and my wife a chicken dish. We split an endive watercress salad, and for dessert bananas foster prepared tableside. Everything was very good, though the bread was just OK - nothing special. We had a Roar Chardonnay, which we both enjoyed. Service was also very good.
excellent and well served dinner which is the usual offering at this outstanding restaurant
Wonderful experience for lunch
We had a pal’s 60th birthday here. The food, service, setting was Really outstanding. We were in a quiet room with fireplace. It felt like a private room, just for us. The maitre’d was incredibly solicitous. The lamb was crazy good, as were the hoisin Guinness ribs. A terrific dessert was gifted to us. The staff kept a delightful surprise ‘til the end. The pal’s daughter paid for dinner. Heaven....on so many levels.
Lovely restaurant and good food. My only complaint was my medium-rare lamb chops were very, very rare.
The service and food are always great. This is a family favorite for special occasions.
Excellent meal from appetizer through dessert. Staff was friendly, professional and helpful. Service was attentive without being intrusive.
The staff and food were of the highest quality and they deserve just praise praise. I’ll be back and I’ll make sure to let those that I know of the ambiance and flavor of the place.
Lovely setting, great meal.
Elegant restaurant with great food an exceptional service. We had lovely dinner.
Food and service was outstanding! Already recommended to some friends!
We had our two dogs with us. So we wanted to find a dog friendly place. We were sitted at outdoor patio next to the fountain. It was so beautiful. Waiter was very attentive to us and our dogs. Food was fresh! Dessert was amazing! Will definitely come back.
This is a high-end, elegant restaurant. I would describe it as formal. The service was excellent; we complained about an oaf at a nearby table uttering swear words and getting louder as the evening progressed, and were promptly and graciously reseated. However, the approach to food is not really compatible with our preferences. I would describe the cuisine as "continental," and for me, that means that butter seems to be the solution to too many problems. I'm sure we took in 3 days' worth of our normal butter intake in one meal. The food was excellent tasting and looking and in consistency, and the single order of rack of lamb for my wife very generous (six ribs!), but ultimately, not our cup of tea. Making the price seem excessively high in the end, despite the beautiful ambiance and excellent service. I have had more creative meals in equally lovely settings for 2/3s or even less of this tab. Maybe we are spoiled, though, living in the SF Bay Area, where the competition is fierce.
Great steaks and overall experience.
I’m always treated very well. Not a local, so only enjoy the experience approximately 5 times annually. Had the duck this time. Yummmm...so tender. A lovely sauce that is slightly sweet. Will definitely have again. Wonderful for quiet conversation. They have outside seating, as well.
Sounds French but it is not. Seems special but it is not. Nothing innovative or updated. Sorry but very disappointed in the entire experience.
The food was excellent-the best lamb I may ever have eaten (and I love lamb) and the hoisin/guinness short ribs were to die for. These folks are happy you are dining with them and make you feel so comfortable. Looking out on a lovely courtyard, perfect service and lopts of items to flambe! Super fun, a lillte fancy, but totally delicious!
Outstanding meal and service accompanied by a great wine list.
The tableside banana foster is incredible
Having made a reservation request for a quiet table, we were seated nearly on top of the neighboring table, such that we were almost an intimate party to their conversation. There was not even one dinner option for me as a vegetarian. I ordered ravioli from the list of starters to be served as a main dish, only to be presented with the minimal starter portion without vegetables or other sides. The dessert menu seemed purposefully limited to encourage the selection of three desserts-for-two at $30. I chose a $9 strawberry sorbet but was served a distasteful commercial raspberry sherbet instead. The overall atmosphere seemed pretentious.
Rack of lamb their signature dish is Excellent!!!!!
My family has gone to this restaurant for over 25 years. Anton and Michel never disappoint. We love the food. Outstanding wine list, too.
Enjoyed our time there immensely. Service was friendly and attentive and dishes were nicely presented and delicious.
Service was poor. Drinks weren’t served until starter course was finished and only after a verbal reminder. Coffee was served after dessert was finished. Waiter seemed to be a bit scattered. All over the place without accomplishing much. Food was good, but service ruined the night.
