We arrived on time for our reservation (7pm) to find the place dark and devoid of life! Sitting On the steps at the next building were two people we asked if they knew anything about the restaurant being closed. Well, they were the musicians that had been hired for the evening
To play at Antibes. The were making calls and checking the website for a clue of what had happened, to no avail. I felt very bad for them , we could find another place to eat, but they were out a nights pay. So, I have nothing good to say about this restaurant!
When we arrived at the restaurant, there was a note on the door stating that the restaurant was closed all week for maintenance. Someone came the door and shooed us away. We had to find another restaurant quickly as we had tickets for a show at 7 p.m. Since I went to the restaurant's website to check on the menu, there was no notice that it would not be open for the entire week.
Not enough wait staff working at all for a Saturday night! Service was a bit slow and the male waiter seemed irritated by having to wait on so many groups at once. Online menu does not match menu at the restaurant (prices, entree names, etc.), and menu at the restaurant did not give an accurate description of some of the items (ex: grilled jumbo shrimp appetizer is actually small cocktail shrimp). Would go back again for dinner, but not with more than two people.
There were two other people in the restaurant besides my friend and me and waitress wouldn't turn down the very loud distracting music. When we asked nicely she gave us an attitude. The water bottle had something floaty inside and we asked for fresh bottle and glasses and again, gave us an attitude. She didn't check on us much and we had get up ourselves to ask for the bill. Will never come back.
Highly recommend Antibes Bistro - delicious! Not busy on a Monday night but very well decorated, cozy, and hosted a live guitarist. Food was 10/10: the asparagus appetizer was spectacular, the branzino fresh and tasty, and the bread pudding delicious. Very home-y spot, great for a date or a low-key get together.
After hearing about and reading reviews on French restaurants in NYC, I decided that we should try Antibes Bistro. We've been to and enjoyed Matisse (NYC) ,Le Canard Enchaine (Kingston, NY) as well as others which may or may not have survived over the years. Without a doubt, the food here is very good. Notable dishes include the Seared Foie Gras, Roquefort & Poached Pear Salad, Guinness Braised Short Ribs, and the Coriander Crusted Salmon. The Short Ribs were a tiny bit too well done but the salmon was perfect at medium. service was very good but the Bistro was very warm and you could not feel the AC anywhere in the front of the restaurants. Towards the back and against the far wall, it was quite a different story. Menu is definitely very limited but what they do, they do well. Also serving French cuisine with a Mediterranean slant (tahini and Lamb Kufta inclusions on the menu) makes for a unique experience. Note though the beer selection is limited but even more so when they only had three options available (8 choices but alas 5 sold out)> Wine list was a little better but still a short list but thankfully cocktails/Whisky/Cognac/Calvados/Armagnac were nicely stocked. Also the bar area is definitely an option but please note that the Bistro is very small and the bar maybe can accommodate less than 10 people.
From a pricing/value perspective, Antibes is a little on the expensive side for a french restaurant in that section of NYC.
All in All, a very pleasant experience and we will be back .... Definitely recommended
Cozy neighborhood West Village French bistro with good food and warm atmosphere. Service was great. It's noisy but friendly.

This place was vacant. We were the only people there except for the flies. They ran out of coffee for brunch and several items on the menu. Food was below average but staff was really nice.
Didn't have a lot of things on menu. Service was horrible. Even though there was no one there!!food was good but not excellent.
The lamb was very good, but the risotto wasn't, at all. While the lamb had a really good soft meat, the rusotto tasted like rice on water.
Also, the waitress kept messing up our order, she was unable to remember the four dishes we ordered.
This Very unusual evening hosted 2 big celebratory groups - so Unusually LOUD and raucous - Not our wish/need - but staff Very helpful and accommodating; wine & food were good. It's a lovely place. Try for a more lucky evening!
The food portions are ridiculously small. We ordered the beet "salad" and, I kid you not, it came with the equivalent of ONE beet cut in pieces and ONE tiny segment of orange. For $13. And it didn't taste any differently than if I (or anyone, really) would prepare it at home. Never going there again.
Nice place for a casual, but quality meal if your on the LES.
It looks like a French provincial farmhouse - casual and rustic but candlelit and romantic. Food was delicious, but portions quite small ( which I like, but my dinner companions wanted more) - Lovely service - friendly and relaxed. Little live jazz was nice, but a bit loud for dinner conversation. I really enjoyed our evening and will return.
We chose Antibes Bistro as our post matinee dinner spot. We didn't know what traffic would be like after the show, so we made a later reservation just in case. Thankfully, they could seat us early before our scheduled reservation. It was a bit loud inside, so we chose the table on the small entry patio. The food was good and the service was great.
We booked a table for Feb 14th about a week before Valentines. There is an expected crowd and shuffle for the occasion at any restaurant, however, with a prefix menu it's expected that the food should be timely. The servers were very nice but we had to wait 30 minutes to place our order. They skipped the first course and brought us our appetizers along with the bottle of red we ordered. The red wine was cold....
My gripe was with the pricing and available options. Looking at their regular menu it would be approx $45-50 per person (not including drinks) if 3 courses were ordered and the selections were on the higher end. The V-Day special was $60/person and the selections were not as enticing.
The drinks were good and the food was well prepared, ableit lukewarm in some instances. Overall a nice little LES spot that I'd go back to and try cocktails and apps before committing to dinner.
We made a reservation and they had no record of it. A table was available, though, and we took it. We had a well-meaning but incompetent waitress. We waited 40 minutes after making our drink order to finally get it--partly because we had to keep changing the order. The bar was poorly stocked for a Saturday night, and was completely out of three of the four listed gins they supposedly carry. Our appetizers arrived before our drinks, and we had to be asked not to be rushed through our dinner. The wild mushroom risotto was not as described--few mushrooms and far too many incidental vegetables. Should have called it a primavera. It was also pretty flavorless, lacking in seasoning. The Branzino was quite good, but the overal dining experience was such a disappointment that I cannot in good conscience recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Antibes Bistro is a lovely place to have a date. The ambiance is very romantic. Cocktails are decently priced. Food is great. Easy to get reservations. & it's right next to Spreadhouse coffee which a really cool spot to meet up with your date before heading to dinner.
I used to really like Antibes, but I did not feel welcomed this time around. It seems to have become a very "local" hangout, and the service staff were more interested in talking to and hanging out with their regulars than in taking care of us as guests. THe welcome was disorganized and luke warm, the service not particularly friendly or attentive, the food OK but rushed, and the music only so so and too loud. I doubt I will come back. There are other comparable places in the LES that are nicer to be at.
