Anthony's Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
With all the specials
It would be nice if the specials were listed on paper attached to regular menu
With so many to options to remember and chose from
we asked our server to repeat and he seemed annoyed, in doing so
which I politely told him no need to repeat, we will just order from regular menu and for go on the specials that were offered
My first time here, not very impressed by anything. My dining partner and I were seated in the bar dining room although there was a white table cloth room on the other side. Our server was nice, but read the specials as if it were a chore, instead of selling what I'm certain is more profitable for the restaurant. The bare tables and proximity to the bar would not have been my choice. I ordered a house salad and when I asked for olive oil and vinegar the waitress informed me that it comes with balsamic vingarette only. Seriously! Imagine an Italian restaurant serving nothing but ice cold butter pats in lieu of EVOO with the not so great bread. I had eggplant parm which was okay, not the best nor the worst I ever had. My dining partner had a special which she enjoyed very much. We passed on dessert and left.. I doubt I will go back, for the $90 including tip there are much better restaurants. By the way, we each had a glass of wine and my dining partner just had an entree.
My husband and I went for dinner for our 28th wedding anniversary celebration. It was very busy. There were banquets downstairs and a big party of about 26 in the room with us which I believe was a wedding reception. We were there on a Saturday night. The first time I went was on a weeknight so it was much quieter. The food was good. I ordered the same thing I did the first time I went myself but I remember it being better the first time. Perhaps because it wasn't as busy the first time. Interestingly enough we were seated at the exact same table I was seated at when I went myself. I would definitely go again and try something different the next time.
My husband and I had won a gift card to Anthony's so we decided to try it. We had the screppelle soup for our first course. The crepes were good but the broth was very bland. My husband had Penne Alla vodka and it was so bland. I had " The Jersey Special" pasta with mussels, stuffed calamari ,shrimp and swordfish. I asked to substitute the red sauce for garlic and olive oil which they did. I am not sure what the stuffing was in the calamari. There was a strange taste I couldn't place and didn't like. We both left over half of our meals and didn't want to take them home. Even the wine wasn't good. I first had Cabernet and then switched to Malbec but both were very weak tasting. I'm glad my $100gift card covered most of the meal so I didn't waste my money.
We had reservations for 5 people for Father's Day. We found the food to be very good. Would have liked to have a kids menu but waitress served him chicken nuggets & fries which worked out.
Only complaint I have would be with the bartender who made my Bloody Mary. It was the worst Bloody Mary I ever had. It was served in a small glass with a lime on the rim of the glass. It tasted horrible & I have never seen a Bloody Mary served with a lime, usually it is served with a stalk of celery & green olives. I took a few sips & couldn't drink the rest. Other than that our overall dining experience was very good.
Good food not great, but was 30 minutes before drinks first ordered. Another half-hour before appetizers could be ordered, had to beg to order appetizers and wait staff was more distracted by or attentive to others who were seated long after we were. I guess the strategy being to fill the tables first before attending to those who have been seated. Not worth putting your legs to sleep for such a looonnng dinner in a place with a without ambiance.
We visited Anthony's on Saturday for an early Mother's Day dinner, we wanted to beat the crowds on Sunday. The service was terrible and the food was awful. We were seated at 6:30 and the entree's didn't arrive until 8:00! Every time we needed our waiter we had to ask someone to go get him, guess he was napping in the back? While waiting for dinner we noticed the girl serving the grated cheese and pepper flakes was carrying the bowls with her fingers inside! She did it for every table she served, GROSS! We probably should have left at that point but we stayed. When the food finally arrived it was awful, watery red sauce, my daughter only took one bite and couldn't eat anymore.
This used to be a pretty good restaurant but now it's beyond bad!
There are two parts to this. If you go right the seating is table cloth and left, its a bar type seating (TV's etc). We really enjoy the RIGHT. Its quiet, a bit more refined and a nicer overall experience. They do have dancing which is in Bar side. After we eat we go over and dance for a couple of hours. The best of both worlds (unless you absolutely need to be near the dance floor).
There are two seating areas. One has table cloth service, is quieter and more fine dining experience. The other is more bar, TV, sports type area. Last week I we were in the former and it was much more pleasant then the later. Also, our waitress (nice person) this week forgot our salads. There is limited dancing and it is in the front of the more rustic room. The music was good (both times) and we did dance. The food was the same both weeks - which was very good (not cheap but worth it). If you are coming in for drinks, lite fare or have a bunch of kids - ask for the left - if not go right. We will go back now that we know the lay of the land.
