Anthony's Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
I haven’t had such exquisite service, food and ambience I. Years. I am definitely going back. While trying to find a place to eat dinner before the theatre we decided to come to Anthony’s. Boy are we glad we did. I haven’t been treated so kindly like this in years. From the moment we walked in to the time we left, thought we were royalty. Thank you for hiring the most gracious, wait staff and helper, greeters and also the chefs I. The kitchen. As I was walking to the back your servers had manners too getting out of my way and letting me go first. Haven’t seen that I. Years.
Service was poor and I personally never got my dinner. The first item came to the table wrong and then I never got a corrected meal. Disappointed in the overall experience. The last couple times we have gone there the service has gone down hill. Sorry to see that happening
The restaruant was recommended by a friend as both my husband and I love Italian food. The sauce on our food was extremely sweet. So much so that we could not finish our entrees. It took a while for my husband to find a parking spot. We parked 1/2 block away on a side street. The wait staff was very pleasant and very helpful, but, the food was another thing. Too sweet!!! I will go to a different restaurant next time we want Italian food or maybe just stay home and relax.
Lots of food and great, attentive waitstaff. Food was average sadly. There was too much of it which some may appreciate but it overwhelmed the plate. There was way too much cheese on my eggplant parmigiana such that I had to scrape it off just to enjoy the eggplant. The sugo was also a bit average and for a family recipe, I would have hoped it have had a bit more robust and rounded flavor; it did not and it it accompanied nearly everything that was served. The bread that was served also left much to be desired. Imagine sliced sesame-sprinkled white, rainbow bread- not Italian or authentic at all.
If you want a lot of food without much flavor or imagination, come here. If you'd like tastier food with a real Italian flare, I would venture out to a different Italian place in KC food place.
I'd seen all the good reviews for this place; I should have paid more attention to the poor ones. This was meant to be a nice dinner for friends I hadn't seen in years. Unfortunately, my vitello limone was chewy, and so drowned in its sauce I'm surprised I could taste the meat at all. The house tomato sauce must be Hunt's straight from the can; no salt, no herbs, no garlic, just watery tomato. One of my friend's seafood tortellini was overwhelmingly fishy, but I suppose that's the risk of ordering seafood so far from the coast. The other dishes were okay, but nothing special. The service was perfectly fine, it's just a shame the food was lackluster
Overall, I've paid far less for far better. I can't believe this is one of the most popular places in Kansas City.
The food was awful. I have never had worse Italian food in my life. The bread was a loaf of white bread with butter....no seasoning and very bland. The salad tasted old although the house made ranch was pretty decent. They just put way too much dressing on my salad. My husband wouldn't even eat his Caesar salad because he said it was disgusting. I ordered the chicken parmesan with pasta and my husband ordered the meatball sandwich. The marinara sauce tasted like watered down Chef Boyardee and the rest of the food had minimal seasoning. The service was ok once we got our server's attention. We sat at the table waiting to order our drinks for about 10 mins before someone came. Overall, I do not recommend this place. The food was bad and expensive for the quality.
We ate here the night of 1 August. We were delighted with this Italian restaurant. Well prepared foods, subtly seasoned (so many places use garlic beyond a simple spicing ingredient).
For an appetizer, we shared the fried provolone. DELICATE and DELICIOUS.
She had a standard salad with Italian dressing, I had a Caesar. Both were delicious and fresh!
She had the lasagna with added meat sauce poured over. In the future, we will ask it be baked a couple moments more, so that the caramelized edge forms. I had the seafood fetticine. Delicate. :) In both cases, our portions were so big we had plenty of leftovers!
I had the house red wine. Simple and elegant.
We've found our KC Italian joint!
Unfortunately my husband suffered a medical event & we had to have most of our dinner boxed to go. I do not know what I would have done if not for the owners son, who was running the restaurant that night & several kitchen team members. They were extremely patient, helpful & very respectful to my husband. We will always be grateful to them. Another reason for Anthony's to be on the list of our favorite restaurants!
My son and I come here frequently and this time I brought a friend after an evening event. Very busy for a weeknight but not so my that my food and service expectations would be lessened.
Our server was distracted and all of her mistakes such as not bringing soup and salad were blamed on "I told the girl to bring it." Many times our server would walk by, look at us but never check in to see if we had any needs.
The meatballs in the ravioli were "crunchy." Not sure what that was about.....crunchy filler, onion bits?
You are one of my favorite places and I get there early on Saturday before you run out of Wedding Soup but Wednesday night was not the standard. Definitely an "off night" but one that management should know about...........
