Anthony's HomePort - Des Moines Ratings and Reviews
We go out to a nice brunch once a year as a tradition. We decided to change locations this year after a somewhat disappointing experience at another restaurant last year. We picked a beautiful day and the view can't be beat. The food was good, probably not the best we've ever had, but very good. The potatoes were dried out and not tasty at all. The blueberry bread was excellent. We sampled the mimosas and bloody marys and thought they were average. Service was excellent. We'll see what we decide to do next year, but Anthony's Home Port will be on the short list.
Celebrating two birthdays at lunch. Most restaurants serve bread with a meal. Bread at Anthony's is an extra expense. Most places we've celebrated birthdays give the celebrants a complimentary dessert. At Anthony's, if you order a dessert, the celebrants get a free candle! Seriously? One tea bag and some hot water, $3.99. Wow! This group will not be returning.
Outstanding service!! We went there for an anniversary and I proposed to my girlfriend. The manager Dana did a fabulous job for us in presenting the ring The waitstaff assisted also and videotaped the occasion for us. We couldn't be more happy with the staff. Thank you Anthonys for creating a memorable experience for years to come!!!
Have eaten at this Anthony's many times, and have always had a decent (consistent) meal. The other night, however, the food was not up to their usual standards. Maybe because it was quite busy, or new help in the kitchen, or ??.
Anyway, it will be a long timbefore we try it again.
Hadn't been back to this Anthony's since I proposed to my wife there 27 years ago. We had a fabulous view of Puget Sound from our table and the food was very good as always (we normally hit the Kirkland location, as it is closer to home). Anthony's is always so consistent for food quality and good service. We'll be back!
Great views and seafood. Really a stunning location and great for those staying near the airport or with a long layover. Only one word of warning: this is not a place for vegetarians and really doesn't accommodate them well. That's on us, as we could have checked with the restaurant ahead of time. For some reason, we thought every restaurant in the Seattle area would have a vegetarian entree. Not so.
Went to Anthony's for 25th anniversary - booked 7:15 rez with Open Table - got there 7:05, hostess told us it would be a few minutes - by 7:20 we wandered off to the bar, debated getting a drink - went back to the hostess and told here we'd be in the bar - she again told us it would be a "few minutes" - it was close to 7:30 by now so we spotted a window table in the bar area and just seated ourselves - never did get seated in the restaurant area. Not a problem, full menu in the bar and the steamer clams and salmon were outstanding.
Fresh food, good seasoning and will be back again. I chose the seafood knowing it was fresh. My halibut was perfectly cooked. For a dinner for two adults and two children was $224 and with a tip it was 242. Though I would like to eat there more often it's a little too pricey to go there with any regularity. Perhaps coupons for special offers would bring people more often.
Service wasn't bad the server just wasn't personable or genuine. She whipped her hair and it hit me in the face when I was sitting down. I also didn't have a spoon for my coffee which is just a small (but important) detail. The patio is beautiful but you can't see the waterfront. The seats could use some cushions.
This was our first time at Anthony's. I had lots of family in town so we were looking for something reasonable with a nice view with easy wheelchair access. Everyone enjoyed themselves and their meals. It's a great place for large out of town groups. I recommend the coconut prawns.
One of our favorite restaurants. Consistently great food and excellent service. There is a lovely view of the yacht harbor. We always enjoy arriving a bit early to take in the happy hour at the bar. We have been here so many times over the last 20 years - too many to count. You won't be disappointed.
I wanted to avoid the I-5 mess this weekend. So Iwe stayed local and dined here. This is a hidden gem! Lovely NW views throughout the dinning room. Great seafood and steaks for the entire family. Our family of 4 dined on Father's Day. It was one of the best dinning experiences that we've had...anywhere! My husband and I ordered surf and turf. Each steak was perfectly cooked. My 7 year old son had the sliders which were simple and tasty. My 10 yo daughter ordered tempura platter and gobbled it. She did not like the coleslaw and would have liked another option on the side dish. I tried out the tempura asparagus and was impressed. Jessica was an amazing server and checked in with us regularly in spite of the holiday crowds. She offered a warm welcome, suggestions on menu items and unequalled service. She even gave our kids an upgraded lemonade (their strawberry lemonade). My husband and I are already planning a return visit.
We went for a Father's Day brunch as did many other people. Most had reservations and all moved thru in a timely manner. The menu had both breakfast and lunch options. We all enjoyed our meals; especially enjoyed the fresh made blueberry muffins and fresh fruit plate that were served to all and included in the price. Our waitress was exceptional. We saw the chef come thru the restaurant asking various patrons if they enjoyed their meal.
We had a nice walk along the waterfront after.
Disappointed in the Sunday Brunch for Father's Day. Service was excellent. But the food was not. Had the crab cake egg bowl and seafood omelet. Soggy crab cake, warm mushy potatoes, sourdough slice that was barely toasted and not warm. Egg was perfect. No flavor at all to the dish. The seafood omelet was similar. The best part of the experience (other than hot coffee) was the blueberry coffee cake. But not good enough to entice us back again. Sad!
