Anthony's HomePort - Des Moines
Not sure what was going on during our last visit to Anthony's but the service was mediocre and the steak my wife received was gross. We asked for medium it was over cooked and no flavor at all tasted a bit like it was tossed into a microwave and warmed up. We would have asked for a new steak though our waitresses visits to our table was far and few between. We haven't ever had an experience at Anthony's like this before so I hope its not a trend going into the future. I would have to say if a person were to put a price on this meal it was probably worth $75 (with drinks) out of the $150 we spent.
We requested a quiet area since my mother/in-law is hard of hearing. We were seated at a far table by the window with a lovely view. It was perfect. Our server was lovely, patient and informative. Aside from an over dressed salad, I should always request dressing in the side, the seafood was delicious as was dessert. We enjoyed a leisurely dinner. Anthony’s is a favorite place for my mother-in-law and it had been some time since she was last there. We enjoyed a special evening together. Thank you.
Valentine Day is always busy, but we had a great meal and fun time.
Exceptional service, fantastic food. Was a memorable Valentine's Day for my wife and I
Even though it was Valentines, our server made us feel like we were the only people there. We got our drinks and appetizer quickly, and refills on the beverages and bread was seemless. I look forward to coming back soon.
Excellent fresh food. The mahi mahi was out of this world. Though it was very busy we did not feel rushed. Sitting in the bar looking outside is outstanding. Though Anthony's is a bit pricey it is a great place for special occasions. Great variety and prices for happy hour!
My wife had the Mahi Mahi and loved it. I tasted it and it was great. You don't get much for the price but that's Anthony's. I had the fish and chips. Batter was a little soggy (perhaps oil was not hot enough) and the fries were not hot and crispy.
Once we were seated the service at the table was very good, and the food was very good. This after a discouraging beginning when the front desk mishandled our reservation upon arrival and again after waiting over twenty minutes. Poor front-end management.
Wait staff seemed overly rushed and stressed. Relaxed wait staff makes it a more enjoyable time. Stress rubs off on the customers. Was Anthony’s a little short on wait staff that evening. Most of the time service is excellent. Thanks.
Our visit this time was disappointing. One of the party got the crab toasts which she felt was very good, another guest got the Mahi Tacos which were mediocre and a disappointment from other occaisions. I got the pan fried oysters but the batter was a bit doughy, the texture felt as if they had set too long under a warmer. The help was a not as attentive as they should have been, we had to wait a long time to wave a server down to get a spoon for the soup.
Server was so attentive and we love the winter 3-course meal specials!
Anthony's is always a great choice for a special occasion dinner. Food was excellent!
It has been awhile since I have been to Anthony’s Homeport in Des Moines. This was a birthday celebration for my daughter. The food we ordered and the service was great. Ashley our server was always checking to see how we were doing & making sure if we needed anything & servers going around asking if we need more coffee and cream. Thank you.
A little loud, it was very busy in the dining room. Food was ok and the service excellent.
Food was great. Of course you can't help but love the view. Only thing in my case I was busy trying to handle two 90 year olds on their 69th anniversary. Would love if the waitress had asked if we needed our parking validated. Thankfully it wasn't downtown price since I forget all about it. All in all they had a wonderful time. Would always recommend Anthony's!
There was no single thing that made it a sub-par experience, but many small annoyances. A few items were: Some of the waitstaff was great, but one was missing in action for most of the meal which made ordering things difficult, one of the drinks didn’t show up until half way through the dinner, the main meal took nearly an hour to show up, one entree was thoroughly over cooked, the house lights were really bright, glaring the windows so much there was zero view even though it was one of their best tables, and so on. I considered actively complaining at the time but I’ve had to do that before at one of Anthony’s restaurants and I’m not comfortable being the guy who always finds fault, plus the waitstaff I’d complain to was missing. So we just dealt with it.
Anthony's Homeport was outstanding as it always is.
The OpenTable app allowed us to schedule our reservation for 4:00. We arrived to discover the restaurant doesn't open until 4:30. We had a thirty minute wait to be seated. The reservation app needs some help.
It was very pleasurable. Arrive on time for our reservation and greated with a smile by the hostess. Asks us about our preferences of tables and puts in an amazing spot. Waiter Jake was very attentive and helpful. Our drinks and meal were delivered timely with the food tasting amazingly delicious. Overall great experience.
Undercooked food and slow service. Not recommended
Convenient. Great rapid service. Good use of native/Washington State foods.
Fantastic dinner. Two of us enjoyed the Island Duet & two had steak. All was excellent with great staff.
Food and service was outstanding!
Wonderful service and great dinner.
They were very cooperative with our requests for low salt and peanut free ingredients. The food was very good and, of course, so was the view!
Dependable but not outstanding food quality. Nice location with good views and free parking. Since there's not much else in that area, it's an easy go-to place but Anthony's has been resting on its laurels for some years and needs a shake up.
I bring guests from all over the world to dinner to Anthony's. So Sad it was dark before 6:00 pm when we arrived. Hard to show anything off in the dark. (Not your fault, just a comment.) We love coming to your restaurant. Thank you as always for the great service & food.
Excellent serving staff and consistently marvelous food!
Anthony's is one of my favorite places, especially for a celebratory meal. Since we were celebrating a birthday that night, they added some extras, that we didn't know about.
The wait staff is always quick to check in with us to make sure all is going well..
The special Sunset Dinner is a great value.
So happy you are close to where we live so we can visit often.
We have eaten at Anthony's for many years and have always had a pleasurable experience. This time I felt the quality of the food was not up to par. Watery mashed potatoes, so so salmon..skimpy shrimp, etc. I think their reputation has allowed them to lose some of their superior food preparation.. more like eating at a buffet, not sit down dining.
Great dinner and best table in the house. Really an excellent evening. Thank you for the new elevator.
A little spendy for what it is, but its delicious and worth the splurge every so often!
Celebrate our birthdays at Anthonys every year. Cant beat the $25 3 course meals that are available in Jan. Food and service is excellent!!
It was my birth day and I wanted a special shrimp they were offering and the manager and our server made it possible for me to have it off of the bar menu - exceptional service. Made me very happy.
Great food! A nice birthday dinner with my family.
The service was impeccable, the food was delicious, our table was ready when we arrived at our reservation time. It doesn't get any better than that. Our server Tori was really, really good.
Anthony's presented our group of four yet another grand birthday dinner. It's one of my top go-to restaurants and never ceases to please.
The food was perfect, from appetizers through dessert with good menu choices. We'll be back soon!
Husband, daughter and I went on a Friday night. Enjoyed a calming evening together.
