Great food and service
Bartender/server Joe Blaies is the best! Always remembers what we drink and how we like the food.
We sat for a good 5 minutes with no water or anything At that point one of the Bommaritos that was talking to a table behind us took two baskets of bread off of the table in front of us that had been set up for a larger party that hadn't shown up and dropped one basket off at our table and when I said hello he seemed a bit startled, didn't say anything and went back to the table behind us to continue the conversation with them. Finally our server came to the table and filled our water glasses and brought us menus - it was closer to 10 minutes since we sat down. We ordered cocktails and pate appetizer. The very dry pate had good flavor but was so dry it wasn't pleasant to eat. Cocktails were delivered after the pate. Meal was expensive for what it was and the quality of service. It is a waiting room for Tony's. Too bad - we used to eat at the old Anthony's and it was wonderful.
Love this place! Great ambiance, food and service!
I ordered the special Osso Bucco, it was excellent. Although, a long wait for the food to come but it was worth the wait. We were short of time as we’re going to a 7:30 show, otherwise, the food and service is excellent. I always enjoyed the atmosphere, the feel of a private dining club. We will come back!
Made reservation on Open Table like I have done many times in the past, and when we arrived, we were told Open Table Customers were only allowed to sit at the actual bar - not at any of the tables around the bar. We will never go back. Food prices do not equal bar food.
Always a delightful evening at this iconic bar. Bravo!
Anthony's brings the quality of its sister restaurant at lower prices, but one can order from Ton'y menu as they share the same kitchen. Their osso bucca is wonderful and we shared one portion with a splendid risotto. It is not inexpensive to dine at Anthony's but it is a bargain because the quality of the cooking is so good. Everything is just right. It is perhaps our favorite restaurant in St Louis, so we are not unbiased.
We booked this restaurant based on other reviews. We did not enjoy the atmosphere or the food at all. It was a bit hard to find, and when we called, we got "Tony's". Finally found this little spot and the whole experience was just a little weird.
This was pitched on OpenTable as a "$" bar experience, which describes it as, " THE cool and happening place." Sounded like fun. Instead, it turned out to be a stodgy, expensive ($$) experience for dowagers. The food was quite good, if you are looking for a fine dining experience (as you would find at Tony's, their companion restaurant next door; they share a kitchen and pricing). Terrible place? No, not if the advertising were accurate, but it did not meet expectations, hopes, or budget ... we weren't looking for fine dining in an empty bar. Put this one down as false advertising by the establishment and by OpenTable . Shame on you.
Love Anthony's Bar! Anthony’s Bar is one of the best kept secrets in the city. I am always surprised that more people don't know that it shares a kitchen with Tony's. I take clients and friends here, as well as it is my go to place for a romantic evening with my better half. Anthony's Bar is a great place to grab lunch without the noise of other downtown establishments and an even better place to enjoy an outstanding dinner.
Love Anthony’s Bar. The food is great and you can choose either the bar menu or the restaurant food menu. What a great casual gourmet dining experience. There are also a tv for sports watching if you want to watch
I love Anthony's Bar. It has a cool retro vibe, a real bar and fantastic food. It is a local gem.
We have been to Tony's a few times in the past and loved the food. Our friends love going to Anthony's because they get the same food for a bit less money. The atmosphere was cool and old school, the service the same. The food, however was mediocre. My steak and my husband's fish were both overdone.
We were in a hurry, so no time to send back. We just were no as impressed as we thought we would be. Maybe a case of you get what you pay for?
My friend's steak came out well done when she ordered medium rare. So our grumpy, inattentive waiter took it back and I had to wait an additional 10 minutes to eat my food as it sat at the table getting cold waiting for the cook to get her steak right. What's so difficult about pulling a steak off the grill before it's turned into leather? You're a restaurant, for God's sake! Then we were handed a bill for $85.00 for a Moscato, 2 beers, a steak and pork chop dinner.... never going back :(
LOVE this place. ambience is wonderful and the food is always wonderful. Hamburger was incredible! Risotto wonderful. Elegant bar. Joe is a great waiter!
Celebrated our husband-wife birthdays at Anthony's Bar and had a wonderful time. We were traveling through St. Louis and this was our first time at Anthony's, which is across the lobby from the famous Tony's Restaurant (same family). Joe was both our bartender and server; he was polite, funny and professional. Anthony's provided a beautifully set table at the window. My wife ordered the penne with asparagus and wild mushrooms, I had the risotto with shrimp, both with house salads. Our meals were delicious, as was the wine. This venue provided a memorable night for our special occasion and we will be returning.
The food was delicious. Although it is called a "bar," it has an air of sophistication. Our waiter/bartender was extremely attentive to our needs and made excellent menu suggestions.
By far the best seafood pasta ever. Joe the bartender and server is great. A classic spot in all ways.
Great, relaxed dinner with excellent food. Anthony's is a "special gem" that makes returning regularly something we look forward to.
Excellent, great value, great service, great food choices.
We live downtown and try to eat at Anthony's Bar whenever the opportunity presents itself.
Never a disappointment. Excellent food, excellent wine, cool atmosphere and outstanding service. Another fantastic experience. As always we enjoyed every aspect of our evening at Anthony's Bar.
Lucky me arrived on Downtown St. Louis Restaurant week! Fabulous dinner starting with ricotta in eggplant roll in a creamy tomato basel sauce that was like a slice of heaven. Luscious pork chop with tasty sides. And topped by wonderful coconut chocolate tart with ice cream. ALL FOR $25!! Sign me up again! And they are also suporting the local food bank as part of the promotion.
We haven't been here for years but decided to try it out for downtown restaurant week. I had eggplant stuffed with ricotta for appetizer. Delicious red sauce . He had toasted rav. Then he had pork chop and I had Parmesan chicken. Both were great . They were busy and I think our waiter was overwhelmed. We will go back
Superb atmosphere and service, and Tony's food is amazing too!
Wow. Super surprised with the space. But our reservation was in order. Joe was the best old school bar tender/server I have met in a decade. My new go to in St Louis. Every dish was spectacular.
Always a treat to eat at Anthony's!!! Food is divine. Can order from pub menu or Tony's menu. A real treat !
Just grabbing dinner with my dad. Great, small atmosphere. Delicious food!!!
We stayed across the street from Busch Stadium and wanted a good restaurant within walking distance. Most offerings were sports bars or other casual dining options. We wanted fine dining in a casual atmosphere and Anthony's Bar was the perfect answer. We arrived early for our reservation and we're seated immediately. Joe, the do-all bartender/server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and specials. We chose to share an appetizer special (shaved roasted veal with tuna sauce) and a salad, both outstanding. We each had an entree and shared a dessert. The whole meal was excellent, along the lines of what you'd expect in New York or Chicago. Because Anthony's shares the kitchen with Tony's, it is assured the quality will be excellent. We were thrilled to have chanced upon this lovely little restaurant and will certainly recommend it to anyone traveling through St. Louis.
This is a gem of a place if you want Tony's great food but not all the formality. Very informal place. Perfect for before baseball if you don't want stadium food. Service is good. Sensitive to timing. Specials for the evening are often great. I had delicious white asparagus salad, a cold pea soup, and the appetizer size (it was plenty big) soft-shelled crab--extra delicious with a lot of meat.
Anthony's offers the bet of two worlds. A great casual menu teamed with Tony's in a casual atmosphere with outstanding servers who always make the visit special.
Easier to get into than Tony's, and uses the same kitchen.
The service issue was with kitchen backup rather than server Joe. Soup was tepid. Tasted some outstanding desserts!!!
All the decadence of Tony's in a more casual setting! You can go in your Cardinals gear & get a gourmet meal before the game! Anthony's offers its own menu, as well as the Tony's menu. The service is impeccable (of course) and the food is heavenly.
Service was horrible. One bartender had to do everything. Bar was crowded (it was Saturday night). He had to take our drink/food orders and serve our dinner at a table. Didn't get good service at all. I don't blame the bartender, he should have had help. The manager showed up but was useless unless you were a regular customer who he spent his time talking to and not helping. He called later and left a message with some excuse stating three of his staff had been in an accident and he didn't have help. Sounds like poor management if you can't get workers to fill in or he couldn't do it himself. This was a very special occasion for us (our 50th wedding anniversary)and this was a very disappointing end to what had been a day of celebration.
Perfect-a bday dinner celebration-food terrific and dessert too
The ambiance and food were excellent. The service was ok, there was only one man working the bar and taking everyone's orders! He started to get very busy and could not be attentive to all tables. Overall it was enjoyable and I will go back.
We had a great time and enjoyed some amazing food! I would suggest the scallops with black truffle to start. Maybe even one order per person. Everything we had was perfect. We will make this a regular date night event.
Stopped by Anthony's bar for dinner. We had just finished up a baseball game at Busch Stadium. Got four seats at the bar and had a wonderful time.
Two of us ordered the Black Pepper Rubbed Prime Sirloin Strip Steak with Green Peppercorn Cream. One person got the Filet mignon and another the salmon. All choices were excellent.
The caesar salad was amazing, hint of anchovies (but wasn't over powering) made this one of the best I've had. And I don't like anchovies.
Side dishes were vegetable medley, spinach or pasta. Any choice was the right choice.
Lastly, we rounded out the night with a Irish coffee but don't expect bailey's. You get real Whipped Cream to put in your coffee (received high marks) and two amazing desserts. Frozen ice cream cake and a Brown Sugar tort with Carmel sea salt ice cream (OMG).
Joe is the greatest server and bartender in town. High end and worth it. Same good as Tonys but not as formal.
