Anthony's at Paxon Hollow Ratings and Reviews
Fabulous food...fabulous service! We had our wedding reception here two years ago, and it was FABULOUS (do you sense a theme?!?!). We thoroughly enjoyed our "date night," thanks to the continued great food and service! Dave was our wonderful waiter, and it was good to see Melissa again (she ran the show for our wedding).
My wife had gone here on a girls night and found it quite good so we took our "dining out" friends with us for a couples dinner. Sat outside on the patio so the live music was enjoyable without disrupting our conversation. Great food and staff was excellent! We would do it again.
Horrible. We should have followed our instincts when we first entered and turned around and left. To begin there was a band playing (at 7pm) that was so loud you couldn't even hear the hostess at the opposite end of the room. People were talking so loud trying to have conversations over the band, the noise level was deafening. To avoid the noise we chose to sit outside in the intense humidity. We both ordered something with crab and at first bite we both noticed that there was an obvious "fishy" taste. Not the way fresh crab should taste. We got fries but had to ask and wait for ketchup, and the Cole slaw that was supposed to be a side dish was laughable. If there was 2 tablespoons in the little soufflé cup it's served in, that would be a generous estimate. My husband is a big fan of shrimp and crab but couldn't even finish his meal. Although our waitress was very nice the service could have been better. Back when I was a waitress years ago we were told to let the manager know if it even "looked like" a customer was dissatisfied so they could try to amend the impression and save the customer. Our waitress was aware we weren't even interested in even taking our leftovers home and when she asked if they'd see us again, and we said no, we were very disappointed, nothing was done. It was a complete waste of time and money. So wish we had gone somewhere else but had wanted to give this place a try. Sorry we did.
Noise level for a Saturday night was unacceptable. When you have to lean over the table and shout at your date to be heard, that is too loud. Having the bar in the dining area doesn't help. Deejay playing far too loud was also no help. I ordered crab cakes, two undersized portions that were tasty, but still required a trip to McDonald's afterward to satisfy my appetite. My date had a fish taco, also quite small. Prices are reasonable, but not for such small portions. Won't return.
My wife and I had a light dinner this past Sat. We had not been there since the end of last year. It was a bit chilly for outside, so we ate at a table in the bar area. We split an appetizer of clams casino, which we both liked. My wife had the spicy scallops and I went with the crab cake sandwich and fries. There seemed to be a lot more entrees than previously on the menu. The drinks were well made and not overly priced. The food came out as scheduled, and our waiter Dave was very helpful with his menu explanations and service. All in all, a nice night out. We're looking forward to a return shortly when the weather gets warmer. We enjoy the summer dining on the outside deck overlooking the 18th hole on the golf course.
Menu did not have numerous items that are on website. Did not have items listed on printed in house menu, Scallops and ran out of Baked Clams. This was at 5:30 PM on Friday. Server said they don't order a lot because on open Fri-Sun, for remodeling the ballroom. We were told we could not use a gift card because they had no computer access due to remodeling the ballroom. Our server was very good and made her recommendations on the food we right on.
Compared to Anthony's Drexeline the menu is very limited. Our gift card is not good at both locations only Paxton Hollow. Over all a disappointing evening.
Anthony's has a terrace overlooking a golf course. Sitting on the terrace is lovely on a summer night. The food was very good and very reasonably priced.. and the service was lovely. I had never eaten there before and all the good things were a welcome surprise.
Dave forgot our salad and brought out entrees, he did comp our wine as a "sorry"! I don't think they ever checked us in because I got a phone message that our table was ready when we were 1/2 way through dinner, they place was empty when we got there so I guess although I said I had reservations they did not check us in. Don't think I ever got the 100 dining point either.
We enjoyed our food at Anthony's. I like the lighter Bistro items they now include. I ate fish tacos which were fantastic. They will be my go-to menu item there. Chop salad was also good. My husband had a pepperoni pizza that he enjoyed without raving.
The outside ambiance overlooking the golf course is wonderful and exactly what I eqnt d on a (finally) warm evening. However, the noise level marred my enjoyment. We were there on a Friday night when they have music. The duo was low key, Boca-nova beat-like and very good. But the narrow deck meant they were too close to diners. We avoided their speakers and sat towards the deck for the banquet room patio. That meant we were near cigarette smoke and noisy groups. Seemed like it was hard to find the perfect spot. I wish they wouldn't try so hard by having music. It's not needed. The indoor seating is extremely noisy with no sound absorbers. I'd like to eat here more often because we live so close, but the noise issues made it a chore.
Cut to the chase: A Saturday seating @7pm and no less than 4 items of the menu were unavailable. What food was served was tasty: Shrimp Lejon and Gnocchi with chicken and shrimp. Unfortunately, the bar wasn't supporting well either with a poorly produced mixed drinks including an Old Fashioned that seemingly the recipe was too old to find on a smart app.
This was the second time we've come for Easter. Not being a big fan of buffets I am very pleased by the selection and quality of the food. I think having the break mid-day and then changing to a new menu is a very smart idea. There were just enough items to provide variety and they were prepared well. Our server was very attentive and all the staff was pleasant. We had a nice time.
Good place. Thought we'd try it. Best salad was awesome. Although I missed the walnuts that the other places add to the salad. I had chicken Anthony. It was good, my hubby had the filet Lorraine. He said the filet mignon was really tender. Not a huge menu selection. But it a good choice. Only two desserts to choose from.
I would go back, sometime !!!
We just tried Anthony's because we had a birthday pack coupon. It was very quiet in the bar/restaurant for a Friday night but that was good. The service was very good and the food was delicious. It was a limited menu though and I thought a bit pricey for a casual bar/restaurant. But we liked it and it was a nice change of pace.
