The shrimp and grits were amazing! Great food and great service.
Amazing food and service. The whole founder with apricot sauce was the most amazing dish. And the grouper was cooked to perfection. Fantastic friendly service from everyone qe interacted with.
Rusticated in a classy gentlemen's club way is the pleasing decor on entering.
Then the menu...first class takes on traditional southern classics. With, for us, the star was an adaptation of a Chicago original, shrimp dejong. The crispy bread crumbs of the original recipe made glorious with the right zing of spices and sherry. Well dressed ceasar salad with the proper hint of anchovy. Extensive wine list. Professional service. This was a second visit.
Pretty much at pre Covid level on all counts.
One our favorites for special occasions
Service excellent as well.
First night of a birthday celebration. Food was fantastic, server was wonderful but over booked with tables which made service slower and more rushed when she was present. Even with that though, everything was great.
Great food and service, ate on the 2nd floor with not much noise and quite corner table.
Very good food
My husband and I traveled to Charleston from Nashville to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. We chose Anson for our dinner. It did not disappoint. The manager sat us himself in a quiet corner spot on the second floor. It was perfect! We ate she crab soup, fried green tomatoes, the scallop meal, and shrimp & grits. My husband raved about the shrimp and grits and said they were the best he’s EVER had! Our server was very knowledgeable and answered all of our menu questions with ease. The manager came by during our meal to make sure it was the anniversary dinner that we hoped for. It really was! And they gave us a free dessert to help celebrate. We will definitely dine at Anson in the future during our next trip! 5 star service, food, and atmosphere!
Great food and service!
Always excellent food, service and location.
The food and service where great! Nice relaxing atmosphere.
Waitress was great. Food ok. Beautiful decor
Beautiful place, location, good atmosphere, friendly waiter. Relaxed atmosphere, we took our time eating.
The food was outstanding ; will go back next time in Charleston .
My wife and I had a 3 day vacation in Charleston. We decided to take a carriage ride at Old South Carriage on Anson Street. While we were there we noticed Anson Restaurant, so we made a reservation through OoenTable. I had Salmon and my wife had flounder. Both were well prepared and tasty. Very good service, nice quiet atmosphere.
Excellent, but should serve bread , as is usually the case in fine dining establishments. Otherwise I would have given them 5 stars.
Excellent food, attentive service.
We had a great time. Food was great. Perfect choices of different items on the menu. Our server, Julia, made our experience complete!
The interior is not what it used to be before the fire. Upstairs is nicer than downstairs. The waitstaff while nice, are not truly professional. We ordered a half bottle of champagne and started to drink it. We ordered our dinner and another half bottle of wine to pair with dinner. Without even checking, our server whisked away our champagne without even checking if we had finished it. Our service was rushed like they wanted to turn the table quickly.
The food was average at best. The veal parm was kind of bland and overcooked. The app was a blend of calamari and some peppers and was quite good. Caesar salad was blah. Overall would not go back as there are plenty of places that offer better food and certainly better service
Lovely atmosphere, cozy and inviting. Food was excellent and the service was prompt, engaged without interfering.
Lovely people, food and location. I would recommend to anyone wanting an intimate dining experience.
The waitress was spot on when she recommended fried green tomatoes, calamari and roasted oysters. The main meal was great, one of our party shared bone in rib-eye and they were very impressed when their meal already came split in 2 servings. The cashew crusted grouper was wonderful. As for the deserts we had creme brûlée to share with the group. Great service and such a great restaurant. We will definitely come back if we’re in the area.
Birthday celebration with part of six and everyone loved it. Great atmosphere, found and drinks. Service great and friendly. Will come back again when in town.
Great experience, ground noise was loud
Best she crab soup. Awesome calamari. Extensive wine list. Delicious halibut. Outstanding service by Kyle.
Halibut, she crab soup, shrimp and grits
Such a cool place. We had dinner there one night - loved it. The next night at a different place was not good so we hit Anson again. Ditto great time!
The food was amazing! The ambiance was
Our waiter, Darnell, was so knowledgeable about the menu and about the wines and about the specials. He was great with us... He was great with the children.
I just can't say enough about him...He was awesome.
The food was great really good !
I literally cleaned my plate.
Would highly recommend Anson's!
This was the first time for either my wife or I to eat here. It was absolutely, totally spectacular! Her salad was great. I had both raw and baked oysters as appetizers (6 of each). The baked oysters were butter, garlic, Parma, and bread crumbs. Both exquisite. Her scored founder was a great price of flounder perfectly cooked. My duck two ways was delicious as well.
We had a fabulous meal! Everything was excellent from the moment we walked in. I highly recommend eating here. We had two different shrimp dinners, and they had no problem changing my husbands dish from grits to mashed potato’s since he is not a fan of grits. Our waiter Kyle was wonderful ( I think since I’m not good with names),he was quick and very attentive to all his customers!
Food was ok. Server had a bit of an attitude but was serving a large group and wasn’t happy when we offered to move. I’m sure this was not a typical evening. It’s looks like a lovely place.
It was great.
Great food and service. Darnell was really great. Wonderful time!
Loved it! Great location. Excellent service. The best shrimp and grits we had in Charleston! Loved the fried green tomatoes and delicious French onion soup too!
Made reservations in plenty of advance time. First to visit Charleston and hostess sat us upstairs with no ambiance at all. Basically a conference room with white table cloths. Disappointed
Four for dinner. It was good, but two of us had fish, and they were both slightly over cooked. For $40+ , I would expect a little bit better.
But, Anton is still a favorite.
Very good. Expensive. I had Fried green tomato app , grouper dinner. Husband had she crab soup and shrimp and grits.
As always, a fabulous dinner and evening. Our waiter, Darnell, was great—very attentive but not intrusive. Food was great. Best she crab soup, calamari app is exceptional. Dinner was great. We highly recommend.
A truly wonderful first experience at Anson. A beautiful building with delicious food and fantastic service; we'll be back!
