The four of us had excellent meals and a very enjoyable time.
Girls weekend getaway- lucked into a last minute reservation and we were treated like queens
Anson’s is Charleston best kept secret have been going for 20 years Mike greets us as family. I have never been disappointed with service or food. The flounder is a trademark dish that is served nowhere else that I have been . But the grouper is fantastic too! You can’t go wrong!
The best fried green tomatoes in Charleston!
Everything was great. The food was excellent, but the staff was over the top friendly, knowledgeable and seemed to genuinely want your experience to be special. Definitely will go back.
Anson was superb in every respect. The food was wonderful. We especially enjoyed talking with Phil, the manager, whom we have known for some time. Our waiter Will was outstanding. We have another reservation at Anson in two weeks.
The fried green tomatoes were outstanding. Two words for ya...bacon jam.
It was good.
Welcoming host and great food! Great service.
The food was amazingly delicious. The service was professional and personable. Parking was convenient
Our food was great a usual but our waiter left a lot to be desired. Was not interested in answering questions about specials etc. After delivering the wine he dropped the food then the bill. Never came by to check on our meal or if we needed anything
(including not refilling water, we had to catch another waiter passing by to do that. Additionally when we did see him he wore his mask under his nose (in todays situation that is unsatisfactory.) will will go back but it will be a while after this experience and if we end up with that waiter again we will get up and leave, he is definitely not putting the best foot forward for a normally great place to dine.
Very nice restaurant with an attentive staff, nice ambiance, and wonderful menu and beverage selection. Three at our table ordered the signature crispy flounder. The presentation was exceptional, and the fish itself was tasty however the heavy handed application of the sauce truly detracted from the overall taste of the dish. Such a shame too because the fish was so well prepared up until the point where the chef doused it in the overly sweet sauce.
The appetizers and salads were exceptional. Definitely make a reservation but expect to wait a bit for your table regardless. It is the kind of environment that causes people to linger and enjoy themselves. The upstairs dining area is far more inviting than the entry level. The bar is beautiful and worth sitting at for drinks. If we had been a party of two I would have eaten at the bar!!!
All in all it’s a great place and worth the visit. If you order the flounder ask for the sauce on the side!
Per usual, Leah our server who we request every time, was phenomenal. Request her, she’s great.
Food was delicious but overpriced. The service was slow but we enjoyed the evening.
Great food, especially the fried green tomatoes! Wonderful atmosphere and friendly staff!
Best fried green tomatoes I have ever had in my life. The goat cheese mashed potatoes were PERFECT with the filet mignon. Atmosphere and ambience was on point!
Extraordinary food and service at this Charleston staple.
Wonderful! From the warm welcome when we arrived to the exquisite food to the outstanding service everything was excellent. An exceptional choice in Charleston, can’t miss it if you are visiting!
My wife and I came to Charleston for my birthday. We were recommended to come here by a coworker and we were incredibly pleased with everything. The food was delicious, the service was impeccable and we had an amazing experience.
Old Charlston, or old New Orleans vibe in the decor and the architecture. Very attentive, knowledgeable wait staff. We attended during Restaurant Week. The menu was sufficiently attractive, especially the daily special-calamari appetizer that I went for the regular menu option.
We are locals, and we will return.
This spot is a hidden gem. It's an old classic in Charleston with a beautiful setting. I highly recommend the fried green tomatoes and the mashed potatoes. Their wine list is phenomenal and extensive. With an ideal location and plenty of parking, it's a great spot to meet with friends, have a reception, or have a date.
What a gem. Moved to Charleston 3 years ago and somehow missed coming to Anson. I will be back. The food was excellent. Went with 5 others and everyone liked their selection. Steak was cooked perfectly with delicious fries. Calamari apps and Shrimp and garlic with bread crumbs app were wonderful.
This is a great find and a very good restaurant. Service was also spot on.
Flounder was outstanding but salmon was dry. The elk room without a fireplace and little ambience. WOuld only visit if in upstairs front room.
We will definitely be back! Server was knowledgeable, food beverages great...celebrated my birthday, which most places no longer do, made it extra special.
First time here... Came for restaurant week. Food was excellent.
Server amazing .. food excellent ... will be back !
AMAZING FOOD! great service & process with reserving the table.
Always great food and service. Our favorite place to dine n Charleston. We have never been disappointed.
Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. Great service and delicious food. Salad with burrata cheese was exceptional.
Could have been slightly more sophisticated in meal offerings
Everything is always great. Get the French onion soup if you like!
Also the Crispy Flounder is wonderful.
We were greeted right away and seated upstairs. The dining room was beautiful. Very charming.
We had the whole flounder, filet mignon, both excellent. The flounder was the best ! Never had it fried like that. Calamari app with pork belly was amazing. Best of all our server Jonathan was perfect. Thank you again Jonathan for a wonderful evening!
Allan, Jeanne, Brian & Alyssa
Perfect in every way! Wonderful meal and service! Phil works very hard! Will be back soon.
Excellent experience overall!
Great food. Excellent staff. I gave special reservation requests and they followed them perfectly.
Great meal with great service. I highly recommend the crispy flounder entree. Anson is a hidden gem.
Went based on 5stars. Also had pic of baked oysters on website page and called and they said they didn’t have but if I were coming, after talking to chef, got oysters to the restaurant and we had 2 dozen amazing Breadcrumb and Parm oysters. She crab soup incredible - be ready very rich and creamy (as it should be). We were a bit suspect of the house signature dish - pics on website of fried scores flounder- but it was amazing!
Great choice def rec!.. great staff as well
It was an absolutely lovely experience. Everyone at the table raved about their food. The calamari appetizer that we shared was a particular hit. And the fried green tomatoes were the best we’ve ever had. We sat upstairs and the dining room ambiance was elegant and refined and perfect for the occasion. Definitely on our list of places to return whenever we come back to Charleston. Thank you.
Needed a last minute reservation for New Years Eve 2020 for my family of 5. A quick google search for restaurants close to our hotel showed Anson’s had availability. With no other options, and seeing the she-crab soup on the menu, I figured we’d give it a try. We were blown away! The ambience was perfect for a special celebratory dinner with my crew. Would be perfect for a romantic evening for two as well. Arriving early, we were immediately accommodated and seen to our table. Our server Leah was so friendly and informative about the night’s specials and offered fantastic advice as to menu selections. The she-crab and French onion soups were amazing. At Leah’s suggestion, my husband ordered the flounder and our entire family agreed it was the best dish on the table. Which says a lot, since the duck, cowboy rib-eye and filet mignon were phenomenal. Do not miss out on the mashed potatoes, my adult daughter couldn’t stop talking about them hours later. Pecan pie put my own to shame. Anson’s is truly an exceptional spot and one I know we will be visiting again and again.
I had heard good things about Anson, and what I heard was correct. The service was absolutely excellent, and the food was delicious. It is an upscale restaurant, but not “super” upscale. If you are celebrating or just looking for a great place to have dinner and a cocktail, Anson will not disappoint.
