The deep fried whole flounder was so incredibly delicious. Overall, this was a delicious and reasonably priced meal. Would highly recommend.
We sat upstairs in the “hunting” room. Very nice ambiance. Food was good. Loved the fried green tomatoes!
Always a pleasurable experience!
We made reservations and essentially dined alone upstairs. Filet mignon was very good. We also ordered the fried chicken and sub’d mashed potatoes. They brought out cream corn then charged for the potatoes after realizing we didn’t get what we ordered. Beer prices are high for the area for local beer but other than that a great dinner.
Love the atmosphere & food! Crispy Flounder is OUT OF THIS WORLD!
Wonderful to be greeted so warmly by the host at the door and remembered! Jackson was our waiter this time and he was tremendous. Open paren we always seem to have the best waiters!)Fabulous drinks and terrific meal. Many years ago, this was my parents’ favorite restaurant and now we all (Next two generations)continue to return over and over.
Service and food was excellent. Definitely recommend to anyone visiting Charleston!
We had a lovely anniversary dinner celebrating our anniversary at Anson! MK was the most friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating server. I tried grits for the first time and was hooked! My husband enjoyed the flounder. Overall it was a fantastic experience!
Love Ansons! It's my "go to" restaurant. Phil & Mike at the front desk are the best!
Our evening started off really well - the maitre d was very friendly and went out of his way to seat us at a better table. The wait staff was also extremely friendly and the bar made an excellent (generous) drink. It was downhill from there... while my husband's oysters were fine, the she crab soup was abysmal, primarily because it lacked the main ingredient - crab. It was basically a bowl of cream with a few tiny strands of crab, no sherry flavor and a VERY bland taste. For the entrees, my husband's halibut was mediocre and also rather bland. I had the shrimp over angle hair pasta...the first bite was not even lukewarm. I mixed it up and tried again...the flavor was not bad, but it was room temperature at best. I flagged a waitress, explained the situation and politely asked if they could just warm the dish for me. She said they'd make me an entirely new dish. I said I was fine if they just warmed it up, but she said it was no problem. The waiter brought my new dish out fairly quickly. Disaster - just like the prior one - no where near being hot. Who wants to eat pasta that's not even warm? Very disappointing food and a shame given the nice atmosphere and friendly staff.
Love the atmosphere. Great steak. Fried green tomatoes can’t go wrong when you add bacon jam to anything. Worth a return visit.
We haven’t eaten at Ansons since their fire. We always enjoyed it before and we thought we would try it again. The service was very good. I didn’t feel that the food was that terrific. I had the shrimp and pasta. It was okay but nothing special. There are so many excellent restaurants in Charleston, that Ansons needs to raise the bar and produce a better offering.
The food was amazing and the service was just as good. You will not forgive yourself if you don't have the fried green tomatoes appetizer! The crispy whole flounder was fantastic, just as good as advertised. Get a reservation and go to Anson!
This was a birthday celebration for my sister who lost her husband last year.
Anson’s once was one of their favorite restaurants.
She had a wonderful meal and evening.
Thank you helping make this celebration a success
We were disappointed by Anson. Our waiter was preoccupied with getting home and completely forgot our appetizers (and didn't understand why we looked so baffled when he brought out our entrees). The fried okra desperately needed a sauce as it was so heavily breaded. The she crab soup came in a plain white cup (not even a bowl) and was barely average. My wife had the catfish, which was excellent, while my short ribs were just OK (and served with a polenta that was inedible and greens that were grey from being cooked so long).
There are so many amazing restaurants in Charleston. We'd recommend Magnolias, SNOB and Revival over Anson.
The food and service were great. Was seated on second floor, which was beautiful. The only thing that I would change would be the music played during dinner. A little classier music needs to be played for a classier place. Thanks!
The best fried green tomatoes I have ever had!!!
Leah provides great service! Excellent dinner!
Great food! Lovely atmosphere. Service was AWESOME!!!
Everything we ate was amazing!
Great food, atmosphere and service from our waiter (Darnell?). Noise level was much higher than usual due to a few larger groups of non-southerners drinking a lot One of the best restaurants in Charleston for high end, authentic cuisine without a lot of experimentation.
Oue Charleston favorite
Great meal and server
Our first visit to Anson's which is surprising since we've been in the area for many years. We were trying to go someplace that we've never been and we hit the jackpot with Anson's. Very good service; ambience is great. Food was very good; husband had steak (a huge steak with mashed potatoes and green beans); I had halibut with succotash. All tasty and nicely presented. I had oysters on the half shell; they were chilled just right and had that wonderful brine flavor. For dessert, I had the Almond Cup (which was enormous w/3 huge scoops of ice cream and my husband had a slice of key lime pie which he said was quite good. The martinis were excellent. I'll go back; it's a keeper.
Former High School classmate get together- food is really good, the place is really nice looking and service was perfect
Great service and food!
The fried green tomatoes were amazing!!! my mom loved the shrimp and I also really enjoyed the Chicken Under a Brick. Would definitely come back!
THIS WAS A FANTASTIC MEAL. The 5 of us came in off the street not knowing what to expect, and we were blown away with the customer service and FANTASTIC food. I've told three people about it already. WE'LL BE COMING BACK!
Always A great meal and Service At Anson, One of Charleston's most consistently pleaseing spots. The atmosphere the lighting and energy vibe is always upbeat and positive, Most professional staff in town.
The Fried Okra starter along with Deviled Eggs are great, All of the mains are super but the Whole Crispy Fried Flounder is the best. Beef,Porkchops, fish, and several other southern dishes make making a selection tough but you will be happy with any choice.... Almond Brittle Basket for Dessert, Or Key Lime Pie.
Our experience was awesome!!!!
My Wife and I was amazed with the table for 2 was upstairs ❤️
Very Nice, we shall be back soon.
Great food, amazing service would highly recommend if you are visiting Charleston
My husband ordered the flounder and he wasn't offered a side. He didn't noticed it didn't come with any and it wasn't offered or suggested.
Great drinks and appetizers to start. Gorgeous dining area upstairs. Husband had the duck and loved it. I had the flounder which was ok. Would definitely go back to try their other options, they all sound great.
Wonderful restaurant. Bar area special. Our flounder special of the day was out of this world. Very friendly and service top rate.
Dinner was excellent, but the creme brulee was the best we've ever had! Would definitely go back.
Service was exceptional, ambiance perfect, but the food, for the price, wasn't fabulous. The crispy flounder wasn't what we remembered (cilantro was added to the sauce and neither one of us cares for that; and despite what we were told that was not an ingredient in the original recipe). Four shrimp in a shrimp cocktail seems skimpy for the cost. But the staff went out of their way to make sure we were enjoying ourselves and they could not have been more solicitous. Recommended with caution.
a lovely restaurant that has been there for a number of years - quality food and service. Highly recommend.
Anson has always been one of our favorites in downtown Charleston, and our celebration there on this occasion was better than usual. The appetizers were delicious and plentiful, and the entrees were chock full of flavor! We selected a less expensive bottle of wine that was absolutely outstanding.
Unbelievably loud! The acoustics in the restaurant are the worst we’ve ever experienced. This was made worse by an obnoxious party of 6 inebriated individuals who didn’t have any regard for other people’s enjoyment. We finally had to request to be moved to a table upstairs and the noise level was still incredibly loud. If you want to visit with friends without shouting across the table or using your menu as a megaphone then this is not your ideal place. If you want to party like it’s Mardi Gras on Bourbon Street, you’ll be ecstatic. On a positive note, our server, Wing was outstanding. He was truly the only good thing about our visit.
Management failed to address a loud and obnoxious table of 8. Had our entrees to go.
