Beautiful restaurant staff were great and the food delicious. We had a great meal!
The whole fried flounder and the catch of the day were over the top. Our server, Jessie, was the best. Will absolutely go back and will recommend. This is perfect Charleston!
Very nice meal in celebration of our Anniversary. Although the downstairs room is nice, the upstairs room is beautiful and I certainly would have preferred if we were placed there instead. Otherwise, very good.
Fabulous Classic Charleston Experience!! From the gas-lit lamps outside, to the personal service inside, and the delicious food, I highly recommend this Charleston favorite. We had 3 fish dishes, plus the NY Strip steak dish - all terrific with great accompaniments. The almond basket with ice cream dessert is enough for 2 - 3 people, and im still dreaming about it. Great wine menu. Our waiter, Darnell, made our evening a celebration.
The service and the ambience were excellent. We were accommodated with the quiet table we requested.
The food was average; there are other places that serve the traditional foods we ordered (oysters, fried green tomatoes, crispy flounder, pork chops, etc) prepared better and less pricy.
Amazing! Get the flounder, you will LOVE it!
Anson was everything we had hoped for and more. We were serviced immediately after we were seated and the service was excellent. The food, however, was absolutely exquisite. Both my husband and I continually said that "this was the best meal we think we've ever had!" He had the Whole Crispy Flounder and he said the sauce totally made it. I had the Salmon Dinner which was the tastiest meal I think I've ever had. We will definitely return to Anson on our next visit to Charleston and will tell all of our friends about it also.
We visited Anson on a Wednesday night. We were seated upstairs, which seems to be the more quiet and intimate area, as opposed to the ground floor. The food and service were impeccable, and of the three restaurants we visited in Charleston for dinner, Anson was the most enjoyable. Would definitely make it a regular on our restaurant circuit if we didn’t live on the West Coast.
Excellent food and environment. Would definitely like to come back.
Food and service were outstanding. Definitely would go back.
We're from Chicago and had not been here for years. We came to celebrate our anniversary and Anson was spectacular! The food, service and what a beautiful room upstairs, made for a very special occasion! We highly recommend!
Everything was excellent except being seated at a table next to the bar. It was an early reservation, so it seemed ok until the bar crowd poured in after work and took over the place. They were loud, crowded the space around our table and distracted from what was a very nice experience.
Usually Anson's is one of my favorite restaurants. My last experience was a litttle disappointing. The food was not up to their normal excellent standard. I will return.
Food was just so-so. Service average or slightly less
Charleston is renown as a town for foodies - Anson is working hard to change that, unfortunately. Food was awful; drinks were watery; and, service was terrible. Will never eat here again and will not recommend for anyone looking for high quality food and service. I have no problem spending money for a great dining experience. Unfortunately, I only got the spending money part right tonight.
The restaurant was very nice! The food was good, we had to send back one dish because the the fish was severely over cooked! The manager didn’t seem to care. Our server was pleasant and very attentive! For what we had it was a little over priced, even if we were down town Charleston
Incredible. Can’t wait to come back on our next visit
We always enjoy Anson. Overall, our favorite place in Charleston.
In a word, everything about Anson was FABULOUS!! The food, the atmosphere, the waiter, the bartender and the owner were all making sure the evening was perfect!
Excellent food and service. Beautiful restaurant. Very friendly staff.
As always top notch all the way! Great food, wine, deserts-knowledgeably staff. Been there enough it feels like home! Always a high light of our time in Charleston
Great flavors, ambience and service. Pricey, but a terrific treat!
Excellent food ,service and atmosphere. I will definitely return.
Beautiful restaurant with great service. We will be going back to sample more of the menu.
Awesome experience! We're greeted at the front door by a host and the general manager. General manager's name was Mike and he checked on us quite a few times during our meal. Very impressive! Our server was Darnell who did a great job and was very knowledgeable. Our Food and drinks were great. My mother really enjoyed her 82nd birthday at Anson's and we were treated exceptionally! Would highly recommend for locals and tourist!
The food was absolutely delicious. However, it took over 45 min to be served. The waiter stated they had a large party upstairs and it was keeping the kitchen busy. We understood, but there was only one other party down in the dining space.
The food and service here are Outstanding in every way! The staff and management go above and beyond to ensure a positive experience.
We enjoyed our dinner - had to try the flounder and it was very good. Not something I would usually get (whole fish). But it was very good
Amazing dining experience! Wait staff was spectacular and the food was wonderful :) Would definitely recommend for a fine dining experience in Charleston.
My best friend and I recently met in Charleston (me from FL and her from MD) for 4 days. Prior to our trip, we did a lot of online research about places to see, things to do and, of course, where to eat. Anson exceeded our expectations - loved the ambiance and the food was wonderful. Highly recommend it.
This is a really old looking restaurant. It’s very stuffy, which isn’t what the pictures suggest when you see their bar. The upstairs is one big sit-down, white table cloth room. They are in desperate need of an update to their ambiance. If I knew it would be like that I never would have gone. Appetizers of roasted garlic and fried green tomatoes were good, but the entrees were not. I got chicken under a brick and the chicken was a brick itself. It was so over cooked I literally couldn’t cut it with a steak knife. It was inedible. It came with kale, and they left the stems in the kale, which are hard and chewy. So the kale was also inedible. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant at all. It’s not even in this century and it’s not anywhere near as good as the reviews suggest.
We had a fantastic meal. The oyster app was yummy, as was the flounder. It's right in the middle of the histrionic downtown. So worth the trip and $$$.
Our server was amazing! The food was absolutely wonderful!
Very good overall though Very Noisy for dinner
Whole fried flounder was outstanding! Also the roasted garlic appetizer was a winner.
A pleasant dining experience with good food and excellent service but a difficult sometimes for conversation.
It was amazing!!! Our waiter, Mark, was great and recommended the perfect dishes and places to visit in Charleston.
It was wonderful. The food to service I will be back!
Right when we walked in, we were greeted so kindly by either who was the manager or owner. We were a little early for our reservation but were sat immediately. Our server was prompt to greet us and was attentive throughout the meal. He offered suggestions on what to order and he did not steer us wrong. While we sipped on our drinks, we were brought the freshest bread then we started with the fried okra, which was great! For our meal we ordered the shrimp and grits and the flounder. I will DREAM about this flounder forever - it was incredible. Cooked perfectly and the flavor amazing. The shrimp and grits were also amazing - so flavorful and rich. I would definitely come back to Anson on our next trip to Charleston.
