I usually eat at Annunciation at least once a year when in NOLA. It never disappoints, and this year was no exception. There’s a new chef and the menu is now more Creole than before, but dishes are still outstanding and everyone in our party was pleased. Richard, the maître d’, was fantastic, as always.

Service was very poor. We had 8pm reservations and at 8:50pm we still hadn’t even placed our order. The food was average at best. Very disappointing

Food was very good but waiter was lost. Took starter order for only two of our party of six rather than entire party. Could not answer questions on wine. Talked too much while chewing gum. Removed starter plates, etc and started replacing silverware, etc and had not taken our dinner order although we had been there for well over an order. Did not apparently understand the order of service. Requested a sweet wine and brought us a fruity one but not sweet. After we rejected it and ordered more wine he told us he was told not to open any more wine at our table. We are hospitality professionals having opened and managed restaurants and hotels all over the country (Hyatt, Renaissance) as well as worked and trained for Disney for 20 years and never been treated this way. Maitre’ D had to finish our table.

Superb food and service. The mid-size menu provides a broad choice of fish, meat, fowl, and vegetarian entrees. For appetizers, the oysters with spinach and brie are excellent, as are the fried green tomatoes with shrimp and remoulade. The duck and the pan seared fish were perfectly prepared and presented. The bread and desserts, especially the butterscotch cream, are delicious. Our waiter was appropriately attentive and friendly without being irritating. I recommend Annunciation highly for any occasion.

We absolutely loved this restaurant!! It was probably our best meal of the entire trip to New Orleans! My husband and I split two appetizers, the fried chicken and dumplings and the fried oysters with Brie. They were both AMAZING!!! We then split the trout almandine for our entree and my husband said it’s the best he’s ever had. We will definitely be back! We are frequent visitors to New Orleans and this is one of our very favorite meals we’ve ever had there!

Great new find in Nola. We thought Boudin Balls were very tasty and not heavy. Beet and Caesar salads excellent. Bread could have been better, not bad but not great. Tuna was outstanding. Will be back. Portions larger than expected but just perfect. Dillon our waiter was very knowledgeable and friendly.

I have seen the restaurant many times as I ride around the city. It wasn't until a waiter at another restaurant suggested we try Annunciation. I'm so glad he did. I cannot wait to go back. I suggest beginning with the baked oysters or chicken and dumpling. My friends and I tried several entrees: pasta primavera (ask for the grilled shrimp , grilled fish and yellowfin tuna were all exceptional.

First time at Annunciation. Had heard mixed reviews, but was pleasantly surprised. Our server was very attentive. I got the tuna my date got the fresh catch which was drum. Both were very good. Had good looking appetizers, but all were fried. May want to look at adding 1 or 2 that aren’t fried.

One of my regular spots in NOLA (a local). Good food (oysters/Brie, steak, shrimp, veal, lemon ice box pie), good service and typically a moderately busy yet cozy spot.

We went to The Annunciation Restaurant for our last dinner in NOLA. It was the best restaurant that we went to while we were there. From the moment we walked thru the door, we were welcomed, seated right away, met our waitress, who gave us awesome reccomendations, she was very knowledgeable on all the drinks and meals, and very enthusiastic. Couldn't ask for a better waitress. The meal was beyond what we were expecting. Can't wait to go back for our next meal there. Thank you for an delectible meal.

Food was good but to stand out in NOLA you have to be better than good. Wedge salad was average (a lot of hard white lettuce in the middle). Brought our wine after we were half way done eating. AMbiance is nice. Good restaurant but in NOLA not sure how it makes it. Just average in my opinion in a city with where average puts you out of business. I would not go again with all the other options in the city. NY Strip was very good though. almost as tender as a filet.

First and foremost the food and drinks were amazing! The only semi issue i had was that we were the only table in the restaurant; Granted we were a table of 12, but the service seemed to not be able to keep up with us. Drinks were given after food, and we just felt that the waiter would just drop off our orders then leave, never checking to see if we wanted more drinks and what not... When the 20% gratuity is automatically added, it felt that the waiter knew he was going to be tipped accordingly so no need to exert more than needed service.
We were celebrating my husband's bday and i called ahead of time to make sure i can bring a cake. The woman who answered said yes, then when i get there they tell me it is going to cost me $25... Well i already had the cake with me and couldn't not bring it in so i agreed but it still would have been nice to know that little tid bit... again the food was delicious just wish the service was oon par.

Our food was excellent. My husband has been a huge fan of the Veal Annunciation which had been missing from the menu for some time. It was back on and as good as ever. I had the Gulf fish and it also was wonderful. we will definitely be back in the near future.

A relative , who lives in NOLA, suggested we dine at Annunciation . Based on numerous 4 star reviews and the seasonal menu, we were anticipating a great meal. Our experience however was simply awful. Our family of 4 had an 8:30 reservation on Sunday. We arrived to discover we were the only folks in the entire restaurant . No other diners - no one at the bar. What a tell- tale sign. Sorry we didn't walk out then ! Our waiter was in some kind of altered state. He poured sparkling water into my half filled wine glass ($100 bottle) - he apologized, removed the " spritzer" and 5 minutes later brought back a glass of wine to my husband and said " here you go - we won't charge you for that." While plating our dinners, he knock over my full water glass on to my lap. Also he kept our wine out of site and when we asked for him to pour more wine, he couldn't find our bottle . The food- lack luster and just sub par. The gumbo smelled like 3 day old fish and the beef bolognese resembled and tasted like hamburger helper. The marinara sauce was ketchup based. Just gross. My husband ordered veal and liked his meal and proceeded to order dessert - butterscotch budino. That was the best part of the meal. Something is amiss at this restaurant.

Good food, poor service. Server said "I'll be right back with your bread" four times before delivering it. Did not know what gumbo was being served - told us duck and andouie (sp?) and delivered seafood. Sent it back, but still delivered bill with the gumbo still on it. Will take it as just a bad night and definitely go back.

Love this place. Went for a work dinner and was just amazed at how great the food and drinks were. Good service as well. It's quieter but we were there on a weeknight and earlier in the evening. Good bar area. Lots of great handcrafted cocktails. Must get the oysters with sautéed spinach and triple cream brie! I had the Yellowfin Tuna and ate every bite!
Not cheap, but the entree portions are not small by any means. Perfect size.
Off the beaten path and classic New Orleans.
Will be returning very soon!

The food was really great. That wasn't the problem. I must have waited almost an hour in between my appetizer and entree. The server did their best coming and apologizing constantly and recognized that it was taking forever. Even acknowledged that we have been watching everyone else get their food even though they came in well after us. When we were done, I promptly declined dessert and we received the check. FOR THE TOTAL AMOUNT. I wasn't trying to get a free meal, but I would like to have someone recognize the timing. They did end up taking off 2 drinks, $15 bucks. But I had to say something to even get that, which I completely do not like doing. No managers, only the Host and Server continually apologizing

We were quickly seated by the friendly staff and handed a very creative drink menu. The dining room was very clean. The staff professional. The menu was not cluttered but had a diverse selection that could please any pallet. It showed the diversity of Chef Jacob Cureton’s experience. He was pitching right to my sweet spot. My eyes immediately focused on the Chicken Andouille Gumbo, and the Shrimp Etouffée. These are two staples every Cajun was raised on and loves. This is what my Grandmother cooked. So, I immediately felt right at home. But we decide on the Fried Oysters on Spinach topped with Brie and my date, a Shrimp Remoulade Salad to start. I ordered Sesame Crusted Yellowfin Tuna, and my date ordered The Seared New York Strip for our main courses. The appetizers arrived with in a reasonable time. The Oysters put me off for a second, “What? Only four of them?” But they were delicately fried. Very delicious. The flavors of the brie and spinach complemented well. But something in my mind kept telling me it needs some smokiness. Maybe some bacon? But I’m in no way complaining. It was very good. But maybe 6 oysters and throw a piece of bacon under the oyster. Just thinking out loud. The Shrimp Remoulade Salad was fresh. Well sized and placed shrimp with the perfect amount of Remoulade to compliment. The main course, “Smack! It’s a homerun!" Perfectly cooked very fresh tuna, a delicious melt of flavors. My dates steak was, cooked to perfection. The Creole Fried Rice was interesting. It was almost like a meatless Jambalaya. Except the meat was not missing. It was the Tuna on top. While I was raving over the Steel Sauce and Sweet Potato Hot Sauce. My date was raving about her brown butter hollandaise. All well prepared and thought out to complement each dish. The deserts sounded delicious. But we opted out since I had a chocolate cake I baked waiting at home. I highly recommend Annunciation. It was a pleasure dining there and we will come again.
