All was delicious - food, decor, service and wine
My favorite combination: a moderate size room, peaceful vibes from the decor, great food, a fabulous bartender....what more could one wish for????
Annisa surpassed our expectations. The food was world-class, the service attentive but unobtrusive and the atmosphere welcoming. The dishes were examples of true culinary artistry.
Fantastic. The Foie Gras dumplings and the stuffed pig foot are to die for or, so thanks goose and pig. Really lovely place - do yourself a favor and book a table ASAP.
I think the dining room only has a dozen tables... that explains the impossible reservation but I finally dined Sat. night at 8pm... and it was WELL WORTH the WAIT!!! AMAZING! Tasting menu is AMAZING! Service was good.
Outstanding food. Staff was truely wonderful. Above and beyond: I had fallen outside, and the wine person/front man, got me ice which has been crucial to my speedy recovery
We have waited a long time to get a table and it was worth the wait. The understated menu and simplicity of the ingredients led us to chant "oooh this is so delicious, hmmmm, i need more' throught out our relaxing time there. The flavoring and the little touches just combined to this most explosive flavoring in your mouth. We love food and will dine from holes in the wall to celebrated chefs. This is one chef who understands how food moves and cooks. After having your neurons explode, your palette clean, you are waiting for your next bite that does not disappoint. Cozy atmosphere and a very serene atmosphere, friendly staff: we are prepared to wait again for our next tasting.
Annisa provided a wonderful setting to propose to my fiancée and get engaged. The 7 course meal was truly a "Top Chef Master" experience. Can not overstate how special and wonderful the meal was, and how wonderful everyone at Annisa made the evening.
We had one of the best meals we've ever had in New York City at Annisa. Fantastic!
My wife and I both had the tasting menu. We ordered the 7 plate and 5 plate menu. The waiter stated that they could only do one or the other. Knowing that my wife couldn't possibly finish 7 plates we ordered two 5 plate menus. I guess it would be easier to plate 2 tasting menus of the same quantity. Anyway the waiter sensing my slight disappointment went back to the kitchen an asked if they would split the size of the tasting menu; and made me very happy. So the service was excellent, the ambiance was quiet elegance and the whole experience was fantastic. The recommend that you write down what you ordered on the tasting menu as it changes constantly, and the next time you go you can eliminate what you tried already..fascinating.
This was one of the best meals I have ever had. I ordered the 5 course tasting menu and all of the dishes were balanced, flavorful and perfectly composed.
Outstanding food and service. The best meal I've had in years. I highly recommend.
Tight dining room. Wonderful menu of creative original cocktails was a highlight. The menu could benefit from a few more accessible appetizers and entrees, but overall good.
My husband and I were very pleased with all the dishes we had. The duck soup dumplings were amazing but then again so was everything else. We decided that the evening wasn't going to be so involved with wine selections so we opted for the Annisa Cocktail which held a very happy note on its own throughout our dining experience. We will absolutely return to try their 5 or 7 course tasting during our next visit.
Spectacular meal from the moment of arrival to the departure.
We were celebrating a special birthday and it was sheer perfection.
We were welcomed as if we were old friends (first visit) and escorted to a wonderful booth that was roomy and perfect for our party of 5. We had the tasting menu which was a series of 5 HITS...no misses. Each course was superb with amazing care taken in preparation and presentation. The strong Asian influences were easy to identify...but trust me, having eaten at the best restaurants in many Asian cities...Annisa can more than hold its own...The service was super efficient, friendly and relaxed....I cannot more strongly recommend this restaurant.
Service was outstanding and very attentive. I was truly impressed. Food was delicately prepared and full of flavor. Never had anything like it and I go out to dinner a minimum of 5 nights a month. Big recommendation.
Food and ambiance great, service horrible. Our waiter barely spoke. It was odd and didn't fit with restaurant.
this place keeps getting better and better, never lest you donw.
Incredible food. One of the best I have had.
I was really looking forward to Annisa and had been trying to plan a date to get a reservation that wasn't after 10pm. Finally got to go yesterday! Did the tasting menu which I really loved, were able to accomodate my pescatarian ways without it seeming overly fishy. Very good service and so much fun.
The only "miss" was the dessert course, none of them stood out as excellent....
My wife and I watch Food Network regularly and on our recent trip to NYC wanted to try out Chef Anita Lo's restaurant. Service was great, trendy location and the food was delicious and of course inventive. We had the tasting menu and enjoyed every course - with the exception of the lamb. I am a huge lamb lover and this was by far the worst lamb I ever ate. The sauce was too salty and over powering and the lamb was tough and not well prepared. Left a little damper on the evening - but overall the rest of the dishes were spectacular. The Chef wasn't in the kitchen so likely the reason why the quality was a bit lower than normal is all I could imagine. As a result, not sure if I would return here - try Marc Forgione's instead
Beautiful restaurant, amazing food, great service. Couldn't ask for more.
Although we (group of 6 persons) were late from our reservation, we were qreeted with utmost delight. Excellent and discreet service topped with tasteful and exciting food. We all had a chefs 5 course menu - highly recommended. Also excellent wines were suggested.
Truly exceptional meal, one of the best I've had in NYC. We ordered a 5-course tasting menu and, after the fourth course, asked to add an extra fish course before dessert! The least successful dish was a fois gras dumpling that was still quite tasty, but not as good as the rest: slow cooked egg with mushrooms and squash, very good scallops, perfect lamb chops alongside ground lamb and tamarind, miso marinated cod over tofu and a standout broth, and the best beignets I've ever had for dessert, filled with salted butterscotch and alongside bourbon ice cream.
We also tried most of the cocktails on the menu, all of which were excellent.
Annisa is such a great restaurant. The food is fantastic and they take such good care of you.
One of the best restaurant experiences in years. Expert staff. Fabulous preparation. Truly deserves its Zagat 28 rating. bc
There aren't enough stars to properly rate Annisa. We came expecting inventive and delicious food and got it, the surprise was the service, the best we have had in years. The room is welcoming and designed for comfort over a multi-course meal, the sound level allows for conversation, the unfussy atmosphere highlights the wonderful food.
Food was excellent and the service was outstanding. It was also quiet so you could have a nice conversation without yelling.
I will definitely return.
An absolute gem. Creative Asian influenced but not dominated food with a terrific winelist. Go for a special occasion, go with friends, go when you want to eat great food, go when you are hungry, just go!!!! Intelligent service and well spaced tables that allow adult conversations.
Loved the ambiance, food and service. It was deafening at 8:30PM on tuesday. Would like to return often but the noise level was too high .
First time and celebrating a birthday. Loved it. It was perfect in every aspect. Friendly and knowledgeable service, creative and delicious menu and a great ambiance. Will be a restaurant for us to come back to again and again.
Superb meshing of diverse culinary traditions, executed with high esthetic sensibilities.
My husband and I went for the tasting menu given that it was our first time there. The food was very good but a bit on the salty side. What they claimed to be a signature dish -- soup dumplings was nothing to rave about but the monkfish and duck were very delicious. I am not typically a liver fan but a few of the dishes consisted of liver and I found them very tasty.
Wait was substantial in between courses. Food wasn't quite Asian and wasn't quite French. Didn't necessarily capture best of both worlds.
Decided to try Annisa after seeing the chef on the show Chopped Masters. You can do a la carte or a 5 or 7 course menu. We opted for the 7 course since it was our first time dining here and thought it would be a good way to sample the menu. The hot and cold tuna and the soup dumpling was amazing, but after those 2 courses there was a long wait between courses. We were expecting amazing flavors, but found that many items where either too salty and one dimensional in flavor, which was disappointing. The cheese course wasn't necessary. Dessert was good, but nothing spectacular. Overall, the food was good but nothing special. Probably won't be back.
Delectable food, perfect service and great atmosphere. All menu choices are expertly explained by the wait staff, service is efficient and unobtrusive, and the food is amazing. Great for a lovely meal with someone special!
One of the best meals I've had in my life. Every component of my meal was thought through and complimented every other piece of my dishes. Fantastic! Highly recommend it. The service was amazing - attentive, friendly and considerate.
Annisa sets a very high benchmark other notable restaurants have a hard time achieving over and over. The food is always spectacular in every way, presentation is precise and clean and the servers are always knowledgeable and very kind. It is in my top ten favorite restaurants in the world.
Food was bland and portion very small. Had $78.00 5-course tasting menu and left hungry
All around great dining experience from the food to the service and atmosphere!
