A mix of modern and traditional Italian cuisine, our cozy ristorante has long been a local favorite. Sisters Anna and Maria, originally from the Basilicata region of southern Italy, first opened the doors of Anna Maria Pasteria in 1989. Beginning at age seven, Anna fell in love with cooking, creating her first plate of Pasta e Fagioli, a simple peasant dish which is now an Italian specialty. Enamored with cuisine and hospitality, Maria followed the family tradition and put her heart into making the best and most heavenly Tiramisu. After nearly two decades, Anna and Maria continue to dedicate themselves to the finest home-made Italian cuisine and service. Each entree is prepared to order with only the finest and freshest ingredients.

This was our first time at Anna Maria it seems very unassuming on the outside, which belies the experience. Excellent meal with exceptional service. We enjoyed appetizers and two different pasta dishes, all of which was delicious and clearly made fresh with fresh ingredients. We will definitely return.
Great food - pasta melts in your mouth - authentic and dependable every time. We hadn't been in a long time and my favorite dish, chicken marsala, was not on the menu anymore, so we asked the waiter, and he said that they could make it. And it was as good as I remember! They also accommodated my partner who had some special requests. A friend had the stuffed tortelinni, and I may order that the next time we go; the pasta was heavenly! And the mini cannoli are a great way to end the meal.
We were there on a Sunday evening and enjoyed the live music.
Our only disappointment came when we learned that they no long offer grilled calamari, which was one of my favorite items on their menu.
Nice variety on the menu, salad was excellent, entrees were good. Service was attentive. On a Friday evening there was live music with a singer. It was very nice that the restaurant had this but it might have been better if it started later. We were there at 7 with out-of-town friends, so we wanted to talk yet felt uncomfortable talking while the singer was performing. She was very nice and friendly, but the vocals were a bit loud for the size of the room.
Everything was great as usual. They had a jazz combo there the night I was there which is wonderful, but it would have be nice if they could have lowered the volume down a bit (early in the evening at least) as it was hard to talk and hear. Other than that everything was wonderful as usual.
Wonderful, reliable choice for pre- or post-meal after a show at the Black Ensemble Theater just steps away. I love that they offer choice of pasta or steamed veggie with dinner entrees which are generous and tasty. Only wish their bread basket included the end pieces. But maybe I just missed out to another table this time!
And don't miss the yummy tiramisu. Totally worth the calories!
Service is friendly and efficient.
We went to Anna Maria's for my partner's birthday. I hadn't been there in over 10 years, so it was nice to reconnect with the staff. The food was great, and we enjoyed the wine selection. The restaurant was not too busy for a Friday night, and we overall had an excellent evening.
Anna Maria always delivers. We often go for holidays, birthdays, and other occasions. The regular menu is excellent, the specials always live up to their name, and the desserts are some of the best in Chicago. And it's a very good value. Thanks, Anna! Thanks, Maria!
We went on New Year's Eve. There must have been some problem with staffing as they only had 2 wait staff and no hostess. We had slightly less attention from our waiter but he had over 10 tables, did the best he could do.
The food did come quickly so no shortage of staff in the kitchen. Food was really good. This was my first time at AnnaMaria, I'd probably go back.
