Anna Maria Pasteria
Beginning at age seven, Anna fell in love with cooking, creating her first plate of Pasta e Fagioli, a simple peasant dish which is now an Italian specialty. Enamored with cuisine and hospitality, Maria followed the family tradition and put her heart into making the best and most heavenly Tiramisu.
After two decades, Anna and Maria continue to dedicate themselves to the finest home-made Italian cuisine and service. Each entree is prepared to order with only the finest and freshest ingredients.

Very personable service, excellent food, varied menu - all 6 of us loved it! It is the perfect place to go before attending a show at The Black Ensemble Theatre, but I would also go just for dinner.
Loyal customers for 25 years and always love the staff, service, and of course the great food. Perfect Mother’s Day dinner!
A great neighborhood Italian restaurant. Consistently great food, god wines, reasonable prices. Staff is friendly and helpful.
Great food- value and in the hood. Try it! Parking everywhere
This is our favorite restaurant in Chicago. It’s our go to place. We are probably there twice a month. They will do whatever it takes to make your visit wonderful
Our family go to place for delicious food!
Halibut was over cooked. Didn’t flake like fish should. I had to cut it with a knife. Waiter took it back, and I ordered something else. Would never go here again.
The server was friendly. Bussers were efficient. The calamari grotto were good. But the entrees were disappointing. The spaghetti and meatballs hardly had any sauce. And this was the dish recommended by our server.
And the salmon entree had little flavor. We were hoping to find a go-to neighborhood Italian restaurant. Our search will continue.
Dinner after show at Black Ensemble Theater, very nice!
Great food and very friendly service. Nice for a good traditional Italian dinner starting off with great warm bread. Lovely evening out and a great break to the middle of the week.
It’s also perfect for dinner before of after going to Black Ensemble Theater. Bonus is Montrose Ave near there is free parking
Excellent food and service ce as always. A little noisy, due to one table!
Rarely do seven folks agree so stronglly unanimously and without reservation, but in this case we did. Everyone had a grand time! The food, the wait staff, the ambiance, just everything, was grand. We came after attending a most soul stirring and upbeat musical at the Black Ensemble Theater, and the uplift and joy was carried over to dining our experience, and lasted throughout! We shall return!
Just so/so. i had salmon in my pasta dish. Very fishy. Didn't eat it. had higher hopes.
Always a favorite - excellent pastas, chicken vesuvio and the best tiramisu on the planet.
I love Anna Maria’s. It’s got great
food and wonderful service. It’s a little gem in the neighborhood. 👍
This is my favorite restaurant. My husband and I go there at least once a month for the last 30 years. It’s far and away the best Italian food in the city if not the country. If what you want isn’t on the menu just and they will make it if they can...
My go to favorite never lets me down.
Anna Maria Pasteria is a very nice restaurant with a good menu and decent wine selection. Specials are really worthwhile. Service is quite good, but the noise level is not low.
A great neighborhood spot. Traditional Italian, friendly, consistent.
Going to Anna Maria's is a Valentine's day tradition of some 20+ years for my husband and me. The food has remained consistently wonderful through all the years. We particularly love the linguini with sea food, and the veal marsala, but everthing is of the same high quality. The vibe is friendly and warm. Service is always excptional.
My favorite restaurant in Chicago. We’ve been going there for over 25 years and we are never disappointed.
The hospitality is unparalleled. We came from Iowa to Chicago. Our kids had a great experience. We definitely will come back
We were looking for Italian and couldn't have been more happy with this restaurant. The food and wine were fantastic. It's a cheeky little restaurant that is nicely decorated. Look like a lot of regulars eat there. The waitress was phenomenal and our food was REALLY good. I would go back in a second
Perfect location for dinner if going to the Black Ensemble Theatre.
My wife and I had a wonderful dinner before the theater
Lovely meal before seeing a show. Staff was attentive and knowledgeable. Save room for cannolis 's !!
Good food. Convenient to theater. Good service. Very noisy.
One of my favorite restaurants in the world. Never a disappointment. great service and great food.
will accommodate any reasonable wish even if not on the menu. My husband and my go to place
We went to Anna Maria Pasteria and had a wonderful dinner and a lovely time. The service was great and we loved the ambience of the restaurant , we plan on going back soon.
Each time we’ Eaten at the restaurant, the staff was exceptionally nice.
Dinner before black Ensemble Theater
This has been a favorite since they were located in Lakeview. Their red sauce is one of the best in the city and I find the atmosphere to be pleasant and usually quiet. They do cater to the theater crowd attending the Black Ensemble Theater so there are times when reservations are necessary and the nose level can be louder than normal. I am happy to see they can sustain their business with this crowd because there have been days when I was one of two customers in the restaurant. However, even on those occasions, the food and the service have always been up to par. I still give them three paws up.
Everything about our experience was wonderful. Nice and cozy ambiance and delicious food.
Wait staff outstanding.
The restaurant had our table ready for us even with our early arrival. Food was fairly good; however, services was very slow. Luckily we allowed extra time or else we would have been late for our performance at the Black Ensemble Theater.
Great food and convenient to black ensemble theatre.
We arrived a little late due to traffic but had called the restaurant to let them know. When we arrived ar 6:30 (the reservation was for 6:15), we were seated right away. We ordered drinks and an appetizer. When the drinks were served we ordered dinner. I wanted to order a different dish but was told it would take 25 minutes. At 7:35 we still had not gotten our food and because we had tickets for an 8:00 pm show, we left without eating. I did receive a call later with an apology and an offer of a free meal whenever we wanted to come back. When you plan to go out to dinner you tend not to eat beforehand. I choose this restaurant because it was near the theatre but I am really upset with the service.
Good food and nice friendly service at reasonable prices.
We always eat here before attending Black Ensemble Theatre, which is just down the street. At first, it was because it was convenient, but it quickly became because of how much we enjoyed eating there. In a nutshell, it’s what you want from a “neighborhood restaurant “: cozy, inviting, super friendly, inexpensive, and tasty and well prepared Italian dishes. Just a great little place.
Extremely convenient if going to the Black Ensemble Theater. We have dined at the restaurant several times. Never disappointed.
Anna Maria's never disappoints! Great food & service on a consistent basis. We love going there!
