Angus' cafe was a nice choice for new years eve. We were close to the times square action but away from the chaos. The service was efficient and friendly and the food was sufficient to curb an appetite.

So so but pricey food, no wine selection by the bottle, cheap house wine served as a Malbec, lack luster ambiance, musty damp odor. Does not deserve to be in the same street as Carmine's and should be avoided at all costs.

Terrible after waiting for 80 minutes we still were not served and had to leave as we were going to a show right next door tables around us did the same When you are a restaurant in the theater district you should be aware that your customers have to get to a show

Waiter was fun and good natured but the food was mediocre, the owner insists on such rigidity as if his menu is perfect, and the ambience was old bar. High spot are the fries if you want fries ( I didn't and got them anyway). The beef burger was either tasteless or it was a turkey burger when I ordered beef. All in all, s'ok but not going to be a repeat.

On this pre theatre dinner return visit, we elected to sit upstairs...good move. Much more quiet, better service and an intimate setting, The onion soup was excellent as was the main course meat dish. A solid wine list and out in time for the show next door...Highly recommended.

They fitted in a last-minute party of five at 7.15 pm, produced a wonderful meal without rush and with great friendliness - and got us into the theatre at 8.00. Amazing.

We were sent upstairs immediately although there was room downstairs and it is very ugly up there with no atmosphere whatsoever. The youngish girl at the reception was so unprofessional. The real reason of this exile was that she took us for tourists : I am originally from France but have lived in NYC for 40 years and my husband is a 5th generation New Yorker! We go to the theater an average of twice a week and this type of reception is very rare, so why bother? We went back to a simple, friendly and good bistro : Cafe un deux trois.
There is a lot of better choice so avoid Angus.

We were in Manhattan for a VERY busy pre Christmas weekend. We went to Angus after a theater matinee and were seated up on the third floor. It was very quiet, relaxed, and JUST what we needed after dealing with the insanity on the streets all day. Our food was very good and out server displayed just the right amount of attentiveness and has a warm personality and great sense of humor. We had as much fun with him as our dining experience. The three of us shared a Creme Brulee for dessert and it was such an ample portion that 3 of us didn't even finish it. It was wonderful and I paired it with an excellent cappucino. I absolutely will go back again.

So professional and the food was excellent and reasonably priced. I felt right at home and was treated like a regular. So convenient to area theaters too! I especially appreciated the smaller fixed price meals offered. Angus himself often greets you at the door....who could ask for more?

My husband and I went to Angus for our 10 year anniversary dinner before the Phantom of the Opera show. We had the 38 oz. Prime Porterhouse (T-bone) dinner. It was excellent!!!! More than enough food to share. Only wish we would have been able to choose our desert instead of the one that was offered with this meal, but again...it was excellent!!! And it is right across the street from the Phantom show. I would definitely recommend this place!!! And...your Amaretto sour's were great as well!!

Not quite as good as its previous incarnation, Angus McIndoe's, but this place is a very nice spot to grab a quick meal before the theatre. The 3rd floor is particularly cozy. Great for a drink and also a fun atmosphere for not-too-young kids.

The service completely fell apart halfway into our meal... both side salads were never brought, waters not refilled, and, after the plates were cleared and dessert ordered, it never came either. It took three attempts to get the check.
All restaurants have the occasional off night - I hope they get their act together.

I've been to this restaurant on 4 different occasions and each time I've had a wonderful dining experience. It begins with the adorable owner. Quite often he is the host. He has a fantastic smile and a fantastic memory. The waitresses are very professional, but also very warm & friendly. The food is delicious. I've ordered different entrees on each visit and have not been disappointed. Word of warning. You do not get cute little portions of food, where there is a lot of plate and dab of something in the center. Good food. Just enjoy.

We've been to Angus before and we will be here again. This is a friendly restaurant in the heart of the Theatre District with delicious food and attentive staff. The booths on the third floor are just a treat, and when were there on a Saturday, around 6:00 p.m., I was delighted to find my favorite college football game in progress on the tv at the bar ... Just picture, no sound, but an extra treat for this fan. -- My husband and I enjoyed a very juicy baked chicken, and our friend loved her chicken pot pie. A great time was had by all!

Angus Bistro is great for pre and post-theater as well as late night. Their regular menu is full of standards and favorites but it has a very reasonable light lunch and post-theater prix fixe. The waiters are attentive and friendly- and leave you alone when you just want to catch up with friends.

I had great food and customer service. Always do. But what stuck with me was seeing the following. I was seated in the Bar area so could the what was going on. The Bartender handed the host a card and he ran out the door. Turns out a customer had left their card, And Tyler ran after the lady. She was so grateful! Now that was good customer service!

Very pleasant experience all around. Was able to easily use a coupon and both the food and the service were very good. Smaller portions than usual, but that's not a bad thing as plates have gotten larger and larger these days which isn't always so appetizing. Would recommend it as a good place pre and post Broadway Theatre.

We chose this restaurant bc of it's close proximity to the theater where we were seeing Mamma Mia. We made a reservation for six, but ended up getting there an hour early. The restaurant was pretty empty at that time so we got a table right away. The host and wait staff were very attentive and friendly. We decided to get the Calamari appetizer and the pre-fixed dinners. There was plenty of food for the both of us, but not so much that we needed to take any with us. (The last thing I wanted to do was carry food around the rest of the night!) We enjoyed our dinner at Angus' Café Bistro and would go there again.
