Angelo's Tavolo at Glen Sanders Mansion - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
This restaurant used to be one of our favorites for a classy, cozy place to eat. We had not eaten there in quite a while. The Mazzone group runs it now. They own about 6-7 restaurants and catering, mostly all high-end places with large price tags. We were disappointed in the food and the service. After complaining, one dish was taken off the bill and we received a complimentary dessert. But, I don't think we will rush back.
Celebrated anniversary at Tivola as we were married at the Mansion 18 years ago. Service was horrible. No one congratulated us on our anniversary and we were the only table in the place. It has really gone down hill as we have been to this restaurant through all the changes for 18 years
I enjoy Sunday Brunches.
In recent years many restaurants in the tri-state area have stopped offerring sunday brunches. Many of the brunch restaurants have closed.
Angelo's Tavelo has offerred a consistently well appointed brunch experience. The staff is motivated and work as a team to make the dining experience as pleasant as possible. I am consistantly impressed that the restaurant manager is on the floor and available to lend a helping hand when necessary.
The atmosphere is casual and attracts various kinds of customers.
My service has always been courteous and performed with care. In recent visits, I've been taken care of by Sam (Samantha). She has been an excellant server and really likes her job and the work that comes with it. Sam makes the brunch experience that much better.
Visit Angelo's Tavelo for Sunday brunch. Ask for Sam and tell her that Chris sent you.
Tavalo has gone downhill so far that it is absolutely horrible. I have dined here frequently over the years it has been in operation. What happened!!! I noticed it was declining the last few times I was here, but this time, the restaurant was empty the entire time we were with only one other party before we were done.... THAT should be a clue!!! The table we were seated at had an exposed picture hook (and shadow) on the wall where there used to be a picture...ODD ambiance! That was just the beginning. The food we ordered was extremely sub-par, not even one star worthy, and it took forever to arrive! Let me remind you that for the first 30 minutes we were the only two people in the dining room! Perhaps they went out shopping for our meal ingredients while we were waiting. Horrible experience, they should close.
Beautiful dining room and excellent service. We had 2 beers and wine during happy hour in the pub. Great wine and good price. I had lobster bisque which was ok but kind of salty. The mushroom soup was much better and 1/2 the price $6 for generous bowl. Salmon was very good. And enough for lunch the next day. Steak was a little chewy and sauce / veggies were way too salty and we love salt. Bread was delicious too.
My fiancé and I chose to come here for our 7th anniversary dinner, since we will be getting married at the mansion next year. We wanted this to become our anniversary tradition and boy did we pick right. The service was spot on, friendly, and professional. The food was beyond excellent, especially the 7hr cherry pepper pork, the salmon, and the chicken milanese. It is definitely more of a special occasion place for most. We will be coming back every year.
Leisurely lunch, attentive and friendly service, and the pasta bolognese was absolutely delicious--with tender chunks of beef and pork rather than ground meats. I had to push my plate aside and take half home--even though I got the small size. Caesar salad was very tasty, with bacon bits.
My wife and I celebrated our birthdays at brunch at Glen Sanders. The food was wonderful. There were many choices of various types of food. The desserts were so good but I did not have much room left after the main courses. Our waiter Manny was very friendly and attentive. (Thanks Manny)
We will definitely come again.
We dined in there basement bar area, old stone foundation for walls, old wood beams for ceiling. Really a cute place and could be very romantic with the right person, simply soggy with atmosphere.
Bar nicely stocked and a knowledgeable staff.
The meal I had was scrumptious.
We were unable to eat since they had no one who could serve us. We were first told to go to the restaurant. We waited but no one came to seat us. We went back to the front and they told us the only place to eat was in the bar since they close the restaurant on Sunday evenings. Then, the bartender kept getting an influx of people buying drinks so no one could wait on us. We left to eat somewhere else . The bartender was apologetic about the lack of faciliites available to serve us. OPen Table should NOT accept reservations for this restaurant on Sundays. You should block anyone from having the ridiculous waste of time that we experience.
We had a wonderful Mother's Day lunch at Tavolo. The food was great and our server Vinod was excellent. We enjoyed both the specials and the craft cocktails. Unlike many places, you could have a pleasant conversation without having to shout over music or other diners.
Only negative was no staff at reception station; waited 5-10 minutes for someone to appear.
Everything else was outstanding. Particularly impressive was the obvious training regarding every detail. Our wait staff operated with precise perfection.
Buena Salute !
I was immediately disappointed to find out that Tavolo was closed and our options were to find another place or dine in the basement lounge. The fact that this website allowed me to make a reservation at a restaurant that was not open is unacceptable. We decided to stay because it may have been difficult to get a table elsewhere. Wicked was performing two shows that Sun day at Proctor's and many local restaurants were booked. The lobster bisque soup w/crab was very salty. The crab was nice lump meat that was warmed separately then added to the bowl prior to the bisque being poured over it tableside. It made the bisque bearable. The shrimp bruschetta had nice large shrimp but the bruschetta itself was bland. The pasta Bolognese was flavorful and well executed. The eggplant Panini was very good. The squash risotto was creamy but a bit bland. Our server was attentive and kept things moving along. the overall experience was OK but I expected better. Open table should not advertise seating at Tavolo when that is not what you are getting......it is misleading and a poor business practice.
Wonderful food and service. We had a gift card and it was Restaurant Week. We were treated as if we were full paying customers in every way and would definitely return for special occasions. Tavolo is a high quality sophisticated dining experience unique to the Capital Region.
Not your everyday menu, which is a good thing. Overall small menu, but food was excellent. Servers were very nice, courteous and class A professional, but service was very slow at times. 40 minutes from being done with entre to receiving desert. Great wine list by glass and bottle. Very darkly lit, so you may need your flashlight lol.
Will definitely go back, but for more of a special occasion than regular dining.
Attentive wait staff but not the kind that are in your face all the time. Not a huge menu but enough options to satisfy. Prices reasonable. We ordered the Calamari appetizer and it was delicious! Entree sizes were large enough to take some home for "leftover" dinner the following evening. Food was freshly prepared, taste was excellent, presentation very good. The jazz style music that was being played over the speakers wasn't our style of music and at times was a little much, but it certainly wasn't a deal-breaker for us.
