Angelo's Prime Bar & Grill Ratings and Reviews
Another Angelo Mazzone hit... our meals were very very good - I ordered the salmon which was delicious. My husband enjoyed his filet and my sister had the smoked chicken which she said was excellent. Our server was friendly and efficient. The only downside to the dining experience is that the restaurant is in a Hilton Garden Inn, so the vibe is pedestrian and not upscale like its sister restaurants in Albany and Saratoga. There were scruffy looking teens lounging around at the entrance / lobby area, and it was a bit of a turn off for me. If you're looking for great food at a fair price you can find it here - but keep in mind the ambiance is similar to a shopping mall restaurant. Prices are half of what you'd see at Prime Albany or Saratoga, so good value.
We had planned to eat in Saratoga before a SPAC concert, but because we were running late, decided to eat at Prime in our hotel. Ordered an appetizer of Korean BBQ wings. They took over a half hour to arrive. The waitress was very nice and apologetic and offered us a complimentary dessert. The wings were very good. I had the grilled half chicken which was well flavored but quite dry. Didn't eat much of it. My husband said his burger was very good. As we were eating the manager sent over a huge plate of nachos. Nice gesture but we were short on time and no longer hungry. Never got the free dessert, but no time to eat it anyway. Not impressed with the place, but maybe we got them on a bad night. Must stress, though, that they were very nice and totally owned the unfortunate delay. PS: Sting concert was great!
Dinner for four after a day at the track. Restaurant is located just off the lobby of a Hilton Garden Inn. The ambiance is about what you'd expect at a hotel restaurant. Nothing special. The service and the food on the other hand, was excellent. Main courses were cooked perfectly and our server, Alex, was attentive but not overbearing. Would recommend, even if not staying at the hotel.
Angelo's provides very good food and excellent service in an unexpected location. One doesn't often think of a Hilton Garden Inn, or most hotels for that matter, as a good dining spot. Angelo's is one of the exceptions. You can get anything from a burger to diver scallops, and everything is always very good. If you like meatloaf, try theirs, but bring a large appetite. It is enough for three meals, seriously, and some of the best I've ever had at a restaurant. This is truly one of Clifton Park's hidden gems. I'm almost afraid that it will get so popular that we locals will not be able to get in.
We took advantage of the Monday Burger n' a Beer special, which was just what we had a taste for. Burgers were cooked as ordered, the fries were great, and the draft beers which are different every time, were very good too. Server was very attentive to our needs. Thank you.
Very good food and service. Interesting menu choices. We arrived a little late, but still no problem in getting our food quickly, so that we could get to SPAC on time for a concert. Always enjoy Angelo Mazzone's creative menu and superb preparation, no matter which of his restaurants we visit!
The service and ambiance was wonderful. The food was very good. great selection of wines, beer, and drinks. The Maplewood salad was excellent, The coconut creme pie was just out of this world the best dessert I have ever tasted. That is saying something because I have had a ton of desserts in my lifetime. The pie is nothing like your average coconut creme pie. I am not a coconut fan but this was fantastic . Drinks were perfect. Only con was it was a little expensive .
The waiter did not tell us that there was an upcharge for substituting Brussels sprouts for mashed potatoes and Visa versa. It was only $2.00 each for a total of $4.00, but he should have told us. My friend asked for a house Cabernet and he gave her a more expensive one.
First we did enjoy. I made reservation on line and when we arrived there was no record of my reservation even though they had confirmed by email. The food portions were large and the meatloaf very good. Paula was the wait person. I had dropped a twenty on the floor and Paula came out to the hallway to find me to return it. It was the only money I has on me so even though I wanted to offer it to her I just couldn't. I would like to send a note of recognition to her if I could ,Thanks
We come in a lot on Mondays especially because of the burger and beer special. Hamburgers are always done well and they come out juicy and the fries and choice of beer you really can't go wrong for the price. The service the managers the scenery it's just really really nice. Have come on other than Monday's and still excellent. It is a fun place to be.
Great food, fast service. We enjoyed it!! My wife and I had an early evening meal there, and the food was unusually good. The service was fast and the price was decent. It wasn't too crowded, and the noise level was low enough so that we could enjoy a dinner conversation. I was surprised we hadn't checked Angelo's out earlier, since we live in the area.
The best part of the experience was we had a reservation and we were seated right away. It went downhill from there. Every step of the process took too long from getting water, then bread, then drinks, then our meals, then our check. Then waiting for our server to pick up our payment. So many different servers delivered things to our table it was hard to know who our actual server was. The way our server spoke to us was odd. She asked, "What can I get you for an appetizer this evening?" Instead of asking us if we even wanted one, which we didn't. She asked the same thing for dessert. When we said we weren't getting dessert, she said, "Oh, I'm sorry to hear that." Then she asked us if we wanted our food boxed up and it was already boxed up on the table right in front of her. Someone else had already done it AND bussed our table. We were ready to go! We had to flag our waitress down to even pay her. As for the meals, one of us ordered the scallops w corn/bacon/potato hash. Aside from it being a little salty, it was pretty good. One of us had the salmon w brussel sprouts and onions. It wasn't very good bc it was overcooked but the dog enjoyed the salmon we had boxed up for him. That sounds harsh but we didn't want it to go to waste. The bite sized bread that was delivered to the table was good.
Never fails to disappoint me. I have eaten here many times and the menu is always changing. And when it appears to be similar, they tweak it just enough to add another memorable meal to the repertoire. Service is always excellent. If you ever dine here, remember to say hello to Ryan and Charlene - two of the finest, friendliest and most professional people in the restaurant business. (And no-I'm not related!)
