Angelo's 677 Prime Ratings and Reviews
We were in the Albany area and decided to eat here based on reviews. The steaks for 2 people must be cooked all one way or they cut it in 2 thereby losing the juice. Additionally, all steaks for 2 come pre sliced.
We ordered the steak tartare, table side, which was good. The toast points however were extremely salty. We also got the foie gras which was good but overpriced for the portion. For mains we got the filet mignon, which was dry, and the cowboy steak which had too much fat and gristle for the price. Wine list very good but on the expensive side. Desert, donut for 2, was very good. Overall, good but overpriced.
At the bar we had 5 bourbon drinks, 3 martinis, and a wine and the bar bill was $170. We did not think to check the tab but that seems a bit excessive. The drinks were good but . . . $19 per drink? Other than that everything was 5 star. As always, the bartenders were awesome, as was our server, and the food was AMAZING. We do love it here.
Horrible, Horrible, Horrible...Took us over 1 1/2 hours to get 2 salads and 2 appetizers. Lightly breaded calamari should have said lightly calamari'd...tasted like heavily breaded onion rings from BJ's. Chopped salad always a hit or miss...mostly onions this time. Sushi was cold but my bone marrow was hot. Worst part was the total lack of service. Had to ask for a waiter after being seated, asked for a waiter to check on our order, asked for a waiter to box our leftover calamari (that we should have just thrown out), and had to ask for a waiter to get our check. We basically didn't have a waiter because he never stopped by to check on anything-
I thought the food and presentation were great with 1 exception. When you buy a steak for over $100, the preparation should be dead on. I ordered my staeak rare and received closer to medium. A piece of fine prime beef that is overcooked even a little is a crime.
what a great steakhouse.....friends tell me best restaurant in albany and after my visit I agree.....very nice setting.....varied menu and very friendly and helpful staff........strongly recommend reservations.......i enjoyed the lobster tails..........if you want a great dining experience and great food......this is the place
Everything about this place was spectacular. My menu had a broken light, but that was quickly driven from my mind with the appetizer. We got the surf and turf tempora roll, and it was the highlight of our meal. My boyfriend got the Surf and Turf meal and it was fantastic. The brussel sprouts were awesome. My filet minion was not as good as we would have liked, but it’s still very good.
Food is good to very good, as always. Interior has been redesigned to reduce the noise level by toning down the piano. Good move, does not intrude on table conversations. Service is good, if a little aggressive. Very good choice in downtown Albany. Recommended.
Took our son for parents weekend to the restaurant for a good steak. We all wound up ordering the same thing: filet mignon on the bone. Each was perfectly cooked. I also ordered a bottle of 2010 Brane Cantenac which was perfect. However, there was a little bit of sticker shock when we got the bill.
Nevertheless, it was a great meal, great service, and wonderful memories made
Angelo’s delivers what you expect from a high end steak house - fantastic food, wonderful decor, and attentive service. But it also brings the expense for that experience.
Could you find a less expensive alternative, perhaps? But for special occasions or the need to impress, Angelo’s has you covered.
It starts with a beautiful 2 block walk to this classy supper club, lot full of great looking cars! Two smiling valets held the doors, and we decended in the stylish, vibrant bar, loaded with a well groomed gang of beautiful folks and superior bartenders. Our server, Eric introduced himself in a friendly, semi-formal manner, until he figured out that we were as loose as could be. Amuse bouche followed a tray of cocktails, and then we hit the menu hard.
Steaks prepared perfectly, sides to die for, all served hot, timely and with a visual preparation of flair. ( side note: our guest’s whole red snapper, was really loaded with small bones, that she couldnt get around, so Our server took in in to clean it up. That is the reason I downgraded a bit, although I think that she didnt really know what she was getting in to )
Now, wait! For dessert, two huge, warm, glazed croissant donuts for us all to have fun splitting up. Best dessert that I experienced in quite a while..
also, great wine list, pretty reasonably priced, and we we not rushed around, as we sat around in very comfortable chairs.
We shall return....
Out on a date night with my husband, on a recommendation from a friend. Loved that everyone dining was all dressed up. The atmosphere was chic, our waiter Marco was exceptional. We stick to a pretty strict carb free diet and he was so helpful and brought us some extra side dishes . The tomahawk steak for two was out of this world. Would highly recommend and will be back for sure.
Good Service, comfortable booth seating, tasty food, prepared nicely, except for dessert (creme brulee), which was very thin (maybe 1/8" thick) and sparse with a burnt taste, not a good value at all (and not sharable, as indicated). The prices are highish, but you would expect that from the way the restaurant is portrayed, and hey, look at the menu before booking. Food portions were adequate, but like so many "upscale" restaurants, you essentially pay for everything, sides and all. Entrees (Steak and Fish) WERE very good, though.
I've been here many times but this last visit the service was lacking. Maybe it was our waiter. I entertain here often for business. If this occurs again I will be searching for a different spot. Btw my steak was cold. The waiter never bother to ask how the meal was and the mature d was nowhere to be found. At this price point 677 failed miserably
Just because a restaurant is the most expensive does not mean it is the best. I do not understand why 677 Prime gets voted one of the best in Albany. We had the late summer harvest menu. The cauliflower soup was amazing. The main course was entirely too salty. The steak was cooked as requested but the crust had too much salt. The asparagus was too salty and somehow the tender tiny shoots were burnt to a crisp. The chive mashed potatoes were excellent. The dessert - mixed fruit cobbler a la mode was excellent. My decaf espresso was made from instant coffee. The wine - a Portuguese, was ok at $40 but the cork disintegrated - probably not stored properly. Service and ambiance were excellent. Not worth the money though.
