Angelo's 677 Prime Ratings and Reviews
The staff makes this restaurant! From the front desk, to the wait staff to the kitchen. They accommodated some tough food allergies while still keeping the food exciting and tasty. The food is very tasty but was looking for a few more vegetarian options. I like how they did not rush us and gave us ample time to enjoy each part of our meal. Great drink selections and ambience make this a great place for special occasions. I can't wait to return.
I ordered a bone in filet . They brought out a Porterhouse & then what looked like a strip. The last steak they brought out was a filet & I said - just leave it. I was told they would cover it. They did not. Covered 2 drinks......thanks. Pretty disappointing. I repeatedly said bone-in, but nobody listened. I will not eat here again. They do not listen or care
Disappointed with the meal overall. It was a holiday, but the resturant was not full when we sat or when we left. For the price of the selections I expected better quality. A majority of our food was cold when served. Service was ok, not great, couldn't send food back because our waitress didn't stop by to ask how it was. For a $300 meal, very disappointed - I wouldn't go back and would not recommend.
Great dinner. Medium well filet came out well done and gray but dealt with it. Food was otherwise very good. All the right touches on dishes. Cherry Pepper Pork was FANTASTIC! Basically picture the fanciest of pulled pork nachos. Big chocolate cake was BIG and delicious. Will certainly be back when we need a nice, fancy dinner (Valentines Day)
I want to start by saying the service was impeccable, the food was good. The problem I had was my cowboy steak I feel was over cooked, it was chard pretty bad on the outside leaving a burnt taste in my mouth. I will take partial blame since I ordered medium well, normally I would order medium! I just felt that for 55$ and 22 oz it would have been bigger and better, I was a little let down, since it was my birthday meal. I hate to say it but I have had much bigger and better steak at the Texas Road House. Thank you
We dine at Prime only a couple of times a year, but this occasion was definitely marked by the BEST service we have ever experienced at the restaurant. Susan, our server, was attentive and professional but not “stuffy”. Timing of the meal was relaxed, but not overly drawn out which has happened in the past, which turns a family dinner out into a three hour experience☹️ The food, as always, was very good. I had the lobster cappuccino which was probably the best version of a lobster bisque I have EVER enjoyed - wonderful light appetizer even though it was a very creamy “soup”. The monkfish cheeks were also good, as were three steaks. But always leave room for dessert ! The croissant donut is by far my favorite, while others at the table enjoyed the chocolate cake served with vanilla ice cream and a glass of milk! Great visit this time.
This was our first visit to Angelo’s 677 and we were very pleased with our lunch. The restaurant itself is elegant and beautifully decorated. Staff was friendly when we entered and that continued with the service, which was friendly, attentive and non-obtrusive.
The drink menu is creative and there is a moderately extensive variety of wines by the glass.
We ordered the Lamb Dip Sandwich, the Open-Faced Steak Sandwich, and the Salad Wich. There is Gluten-free bread available, so that most of the menu is available to those who cannot eat gluten. The soup of the day was black bean chili, which was delicious. There is a special, called the 4-Way Lunch, which consists of either soup of the day or lobster bisque, 1/2 salad, 1/2 sandwich and one side (shoestring fries, cole slaw, or potato salad). This is a bargain at $18. We were able to substitute sautéed spinach or asparagus for the side. Dessert was fresh berries with zabaglione, delightful and light. Lunch with drinks, mains, dessert, coffee, taxes and 20% tip was approximately $50 a head.
There is valet parking at the door for $3 an hour, but we were able to park on the street easily.
Angelo’s 677 Prime is definitely a restaurant we would visit again.
I will be honest with you. I had the lobster bisque and a fillet mignon. The lobster bisque did not taste like lobster to me. It had the right color but no lobster bits or ocean flavor. It filmed over very easily between spoons, kind of like it wanted to separate. I had to stir it each time I took a spoon. I had asked for the steak to be medium rare. The waiter asked me to check it while he waited and it was a little undercooked. I really appreciated that he asked that. When the steak came back I found it to be cooked properly and very tender but a little mushy. I suspect that the cook had grilled/fried.. the steak in salted butter initially, and then recooked it in additional butter. The result was that it was too rich. I did this to my self once cooking a steak at home (which I do often). I put too much butter on the steak which absorbed it and ruined it. The sweat potato fries were excellent.
My companions both had the prime burger which they said was excellent. They also had potato leek soup that both of them said did not taste like potato leek soup. They liked it but told me that they would not have been able to identify the soup if they didn’t already know.
The service was excellent. If you are looking for more feedback I would suggest serving steak with much sharper knives. I was unable to cut thin slices with the beefy, dull serrated knife. At home I use a very sharp knife to cut steak and feel that it adds to the mouthfeel of the dish.
I have been to Angelo's for dinner on many occasions and always recommend it. However, for lunch I was very disappointed with the lack of menu items. Also, there were limited side options and the fries I ordered came out cold. I would have sent them back but then my steak would get cold waiting for fries. I cannot recommend Angelo's for lunch and compared to dinner it was a huge disappointment.
Best restaurant for fine dining in Albany. Celebrated my birthday there. The food, cocktails and service was excellent. French onion soup is the best I have ever tasted. Lump crab cocktail is amazing. All of our entrees were delicious and cooked to perfection. Ended the evening with Bananas Foster served table side. Will be back!
We were running late for our New Years Eve reservations but upon arrival we were seated right away. Hostess seemed to be very friendly. We were greeted instantly for water and our beverage selections. The menus light up! Nice touch indeed! Wine list was very extensive. Our server, Annie was very attentive, friendly, and professional. She gave superb service. The restaurant was a bit cool in temperature than I would have liked. We ordered Shrimp cocktail, and French onion soup which were both delish! For our main course we ordered the filet and the Kobe beef with the hassle back potato to share. Kobe beef was amazing! A bit pricey but if you are looking to splurge I would recommend this option. Filet was amazing too, a bit larger than I expected. The array of sauces and different salts were pleasing, although the flavor of the meat really did not need any sauce. My favorite was the creamy horseradish sauce with my filet. The hassle back potato was ok, we were not totally impressed. Overall we enjoyed our meal here and would stop in again if we were ever in this area again. Nice job to the staff at 677 Prime!
Better than ok, but not really outstanding. We've had a rough time finding a place we really like in Albany. We go into the city a few times a year for shows and have tried many restaurants. This is the one where we've had the best experience. The problem was the server was not particularly attentive, the space was chilly, and the cost is quite high for the portions.
Traveled from NYC to visit over the hoildays. First time there. Ordered rib eye it came out under cooked almost raw asked for med. No flavor to steak. Ordered the banana foster it had too much alcohol in it. Could not taste the other flavors. Was not worth the price. All the food was just ok. Nothing outstanding. Very disappointed. I would recommend Ruth Chris which is a chain over 677 Prime.
My wife and I always come to 677 for our wedding anniversary. It has been a tradition and we are not about to break it. We love the restaurant for its fine dining and ambiance. The staff has always treated us well. From the food to the valet, we cannot say enough. Thank you, 677!
Food was good but way overpriced. Two people salad, dinner and dessert, bill with tip $275.00. You can have the same ambiance, same food quality and service at numerous restaurants in the capital region for half that price.
Service was very good but for that price it should be.
Server was distracted and brought additional, not-ordered starter. The salad I ordered was so saturated with dressing that it was almost inedible. We waited so long for our server to show up with the check, that one of our party went to search her out. The dining area was sparsely populated, so she was not over-busy. All in all, it was very disappointing and I will not be returning.
