Food is good...If you expect air conditioning when you request standard seating forget it. The entire front of the restaurant is left open and the indoor seating just has some fans going. Not great on a hot night...
We had a reservation, arrived on time to use our $100 open table gift card. There was only one employee onsite who told us she was new and didn’t know how to use it. We sat and waited, figured we would try the place and contact open table afterwards to reimburse us. And we waited, and waited. No water, no drink order, no menus, nothing. Another table walked out, they were waiting before us. Another table walked up to the pizza maker and begged for him to put a pie in the oven for him, his wife and son as they had been waiting for 45 minutes while the server ignored everyone in the restaurant and instead, just chatted away on the phone taking to-go orders. About an hour later, I received an alert from open table that we were "no shows" for the reservation. When we called later in the evening we got screamed at by the owner. Open Table has since re-instated our gift card so we can use it elsewhere. Very disappointing given the space looked great, the staff, not so much and the owner, wow...zero customer service.
We visited on 6/4/21 and New York is still emerging from the COVID shutdown. The restaurant was almost empty and there was a hostess and one waitress working. They were both very kind and attentive. We sat outside on the "outdoor seating" they built for COVID. The food was decent but nothing fancy, and the prices were appropriate for what we ate. I would come back again for an "everyday" casual dinner.
There was only one waitress for the entire restaurant. We didn't mind waiting for service but would have been nice to see more staff. The food is okay, nothing spectacular, and a bit overpriced.
Great meal, great service. Enjoyed the outdoor setting.
Below mediocre - priced for the location NOT for the food
We have fried calamari, mista salad to start. For entree, we have capetelli with clams and veal piccata. All nicely done. Wine is great, beer is fresh. The place is tucked in a row of restaurants. This is a neighborhood jem. Great value. We will have this as a go to place if we are in the mood again for Italian food!
To be fair, it was an early Monday night. We chose to sit indoors where there was only 1 other couple. There was only 1 server as well. She was very nice but inexperienced and pretty new. She couldn’t quite understand the simplest questions. She was also the bartender. I felt it was within reason to order an Aperol Sprtiz at an Italian restaurant. She didn’t know what I meant. No matter. They didn’t have Aperol.
The order was simple: Caesar salad with anchovies, fried calamari, and 2 small pizzas. She took notes as if it were a test on surgery. Fine, being thorough is better than getting things wrong.
The food was fine, nothing special. I was charged extra for the anchovies even though they are the primary ingredient in a Caesar salad.
It sorta satisfied our craving to be out again at an Italian restaurant! In this instance, once was enough.
Covid sucks. We were happy to get a res for their outdoor seating and were seated in a makeshift box with a heater in the street. The service was amazing. The food was good, although a little overpriced- even for Manhattan standards. Looking forward to trying again when normalcy returns.
New Year’s Eve
The food was really mediocre. The service was fine because we were the only customers.
This restaurant is really a nicer than average pizza place. The prices are not.
We were looking forward to an authentic Italian dinner, and instead found Angelo Bellini's sub-par food, from the dry rolls and bland "seasoned" oil for dipping, to the nondescript calamari (reminiscent of a Sysco product), gelatinous chicken piccata and truly inedible eggplant parmigiana, the meal was a disappointing start to our dining weekend in NYC.
It is not worth the price. The food was bland. On arrival I ordered a vodka tonic and it was not only warm (I had to request more ice on it) but also badly mixed, i should have figured out the rest from there. Won't be coming back.
Pizza was delicious
Mediocre Italian food. The best thing to be said is that it was hot. Bread was thumb-sized pieces of frozen dough. Noisy with one adjacent party disrupting the entire restaurant. Definitely to be avoided
Family feel at this quaint restaurant.
It was great.
Service was terrible but the food was really good. Very few people In the restaurant and quiet and clean. Waitress was condescending and rude
Nothing special; easy location from hotel
Great food and service! Excellent pizza and desserts too. Must try the thin sliced zucchini chips.
We had the table reserved for 2 hours and they were already trying to kick us out just before 1. Was disappointed at the service.
We really enjoyed the food and atmosphere! Food came quickly and was very good. Other than the lady at the next table complaining the whole time and letting her kid run around, it was fantastic. That’s not on Angelo Bellini’s, she was a pain for the staff too.
Nice casual dining. Good service. Not so good wine list.
Always consistent and wonderful ... excellent value in the neighborhood and wonderful owners and staff!
Pasta was good and cannoli also except the bruschetta
It was disappointing , to say the least. We were 10 people and according to their website they offer. three levels of pre fixed dinners. When we ordered, and there were only four other guests in the place, they informed us we all had to do pre fixed or everything was a la carte. They refused to turn on the ac until we were midway through the meal. The food was mediocre and the manager/owner rude. This was two steps down compared to my regal dining, but, I order in from them occasionally. Poor food, no ac, bait and switch menu . Why is open table supporting this joint?
We found the restaurant cosy and quiet and the staff were very attentive. We ordered pizzas and a pasta dish and they were generous portions. The 12” pizza is more than enough for one person! Location - it’s a bit off the beaten track but certainly worth a visit.
They have excellent pizza, and the service is very attentive.
Wonderful food and very personable staff. My only complaint is the air-conditioning. It’s not efficient enough for summer days and nights.
I was there for a family reunion. Food was fair; entrees were small portions. Seating area had tape all over.
We decided to try this restaurant because it was recommended by the concierge at our hotel and we were not disappointed! The food was good, the ambiance was delightful, and it was exactly what we were hoping for.
Great food. Terrific service.
The food was fantastic! One of the best meals we had during our recent weekend visit.
In addition, the service was excellent.
It would have been better had the air conditioning been on because the restaurant was quite warm with the doors open to the outside; the outside doors being open also allowed the smoke from people smoking g outside to enter the restaurant which also detracted from our experience.
Lovely casual Italian restaurant. Friendly service and good food. A nice atmosphere.
It was my first time there. I ordered the chicken marsala with penne. The chicken was well-cooked and tender, but the marsala sauce lacked much taste. I would go back but try something with a tomato sauce next time. My friend liked her spinach ravioli with pesto sauce.
We are vegetarians and ordered a salad and pizza. Unfortunately the minestrone soup was made with chicken stock, so not available for us. The salad was fine, but nothing special. There was plenty for the three of us to share. We ordered a large pizza and it was very good. I agree with another reviewer that they should have some fresh Parmesan cheese, but I don't add it to pizza anyway, so I didn't notice. We didn't try any other entrees. The staff was fine; our server was fairly new, but offered to pour us a sample of two different wines we could try before deciding on which we wanted. The prices were reasonable and we enjoyed the food and experience.
A cozy neighborhood place with great food! Plus, a noise level so low that you can converse easily with friends. I’ll be back!
We went at 5pm on Mother’s Day, party of 8 with 2 very young children, and two teens. The restaurant was empty which worked out well for us but a little off putting. We were all so pleasantly surprised. The food was great, typical red sauce Italian fare. The service couldn’t be better and the price was fair. They do a high take out business which may account for the empty restaurant, given the awful weather. I would definitely return! Perfect place for families!!
Food very good. Veal piccati excellent. Service good. Amazingly, for an Italian place, they were out of Chianti. The alternative wine was good but overpriced as retails for about $17 (per Vivino) but marked up to $80.
We lucked out and the restaurant wasn't busy when we arrived for our reservation at 6:15p.m. on a Saturday night. Celebrated my nieces 11th birthday and the staff were incredibly kind to her and us. The playlist was also perfect for her! Good food, service and conversation. We'll be back!
