We really enjoyed the food and atmosphere! Food came quickly and was very good. Other than the lady at the next table complaining the whole time and letting her kid run around, it was fantastic. That’s not on Angelo Bellini’s, she was a pain for the staff too.
Nice casual dining. Good service. Not so good wine list.
Always consistent and wonderful ... excellent value in the neighborhood and wonderful owners and staff!
Pasta was good and cannoli also except the bruschetta
It was disappointing , to say the least. We were 10 people and according to their website they offer. three levels of pre fixed dinners. When we ordered, and there were only four other guests in the place, they informed us we all had to do pre fixed or everything was a la carte. They refused to turn on the ac until we were midway through the meal. The food was mediocre and the manager/owner rude. This was two steps down compared to my regal dining, but, I order in from them occasionally. Poor food, no ac, bait and switch menu . Why is open table supporting this joint?
We found the restaurant cosy and quiet and the staff were very attentive. We ordered pizzas and a pasta dish and they were generous portions. The 12” pizza is more than enough for one person! Location - it’s a bit off the beaten track but certainly worth a visit.
They have excellent pizza, and the service is very attentive.
Wonderful food and very personable staff. My only complaint is the air-conditioning. It’s not efficient enough for summer days and nights.
I was there for a family reunion. Food was fair; entrees were small portions. Seating area had tape all over.
We decided to try this restaurant because it was recommended by the concierge at our hotel and we were not disappointed! The food was good, the ambiance was delightful, and it was exactly what we were hoping for.
Great food. Terrific service.
The food was fantastic! One of the best meals we had during our recent weekend visit.
In addition, the service was excellent.
It would have been better had the air conditioning been on because the restaurant was quite warm with the doors open to the outside; the outside doors being open also allowed the smoke from people smoking g outside to enter the restaurant which also detracted from our experience.
Lovely casual Italian restaurant. Friendly service and good food. A nice atmosphere.
It was my first time there. I ordered the chicken marsala with penne. The chicken was well-cooked and tender, but the marsala sauce lacked much taste. I would go back but try something with a tomato sauce next time. My friend liked her spinach ravioli with pesto sauce.
We are vegetarians and ordered a salad and pizza. Unfortunately the minestrone soup was made with chicken stock, so not available for us. The salad was fine, but nothing special. There was plenty for the three of us to share. We ordered a large pizza and it was very good. I agree with another reviewer that they should have some fresh Parmesan cheese, but I don't add it to pizza anyway, so I didn't notice. We didn't try any other entrees. The staff was fine; our server was fairly new, but offered to pour us a sample of two different wines we could try before deciding on which we wanted. The prices were reasonable and we enjoyed the food and experience.
A cozy neighborhood place with great food! Plus, a noise level so low that you can converse easily with friends. I’ll be back!
We went at 5pm on Mother’s Day, party of 8 with 2 very young children, and two teens. The restaurant was empty which worked out well for us but a little off putting. We were all so pleasantly surprised. The food was great, typical red sauce Italian fare. The service couldn’t be better and the price was fair. They do a high take out business which may account for the empty restaurant, given the awful weather. I would definitely return! Perfect place for families!!
Food very good. Veal piccati excellent. Service good. Amazingly, for an Italian place, they were out of Chianti. The alternative wine was good but overpriced as retails for about $17 (per Vivino) but marked up to $80.
We lucked out and the restaurant wasn't busy when we arrived for our reservation at 6:15p.m. on a Saturday night. Celebrated my nieces 11th birthday and the staff were incredibly kind to her and us. The playlist was also perfect for her! Good food, service and conversation. We'll be back!
Double tipped me after leaving a cash tip at their request. Very unprofessional and sneaky.
We stumbled across this place several years ago. Loved the pizzza! We were back in NY and wanted to go back. We new the general area it was in but couldn’t remember the name. I googled pizza and looked at the images and remembered the bar and the brick walls! We were so happy we found it again! They didn’t disappoint! Our waitress was a lovely young girl that was very sweet and attentive!
Very good food & service.
The food was fine, but nothing special. The service was aloof, non-attentive and just generally poor. We had a disagreement with the waitress about the 2 bottles of wine that we had ordered. No concession on their part that the wrong wine had been served. They made us feel like we were the idiots. Never checked if we needed anything during our meal. The restaurant was mostly empty when we arrived and they put us at a table that was too small for our party. Generally an unpleasant dining experience. Won’t be back.
Great food, great service, great atmosphere.
I was disappointed with the approach of the restaurant. I ordered the calzone and had hoped to order a side of ravioli as well. I was eating by myself. The waitress said they could not accommodate my request. Being that it was 7 PM on a Saturday night and at one point I was the only customer in the restaurant, I was a little surprised by her response. The food on the menu was reasonably priced.
The service was great
Quality of food and cost was better then I expected , paid more for my limited Buffet breakfast at the hotel I stayed at......
Will definitely return when back in the city
First we ordered the cold antipasto. It was a plate of lunch meat with 2 postage sized pieces of cheese. Then I ordered the veal Piccata The sauce was good but the veal was very tough. Then I ordered the”chocolate soufflé. It should not be listed as chocolate soufflé, it was nothing but a warm chocolate cake. Not impressed at all.
The Pizza was amazing I had a vodka personal pie and it was so delicious! I also enjoyed the tasty fresh Sangria they offered! It was great! Great spot for a date night/first date or Friday night bit to est when you don't feel like cooking. All the waitresses/ hostesses were lovely!
This restaurant is what I call “fake” Italian dining. It felt more like a corner store pizza shop then Italian dining. There was not even fresh Parmesan.
We found this gem while searching high and low for a post-theater dinner. The food was exquisite, the atmosphere warm and inviting, and the price was unbeatable. I'd choose Angelo Bellini over any of the "big name" Italian restaurants in the city any day.
Hidden gem! Best Chicken Francese in the world. Great service. Excellent value. Can’t wait to go back.
This was a family get together of 9 people. When we were brought to our table, the one side that had a long cushion was a joke. It was cut almost the entire length of the cushion and needless to say it was embarrassing to me as the host. The service was slow, the waitress seemed overwhelmed (she did try her best and we appreciated the attempt). The only positive was the food, it was very good. The drinks were on the weak side but the prices were standard Manhattan prices. When you are getting together with family members from out of town, you can always make the best of what you are dealing with and that is what we did.
The wait staff is nice, but it also seemed as if most of them were in training. No mention of specials, no recommendations, etc. We ordered 4 dishes fusilli with pesto, linguini with meatballs, cheese ricotta with pink sauce and cheese ricotta with bolegnese sauce. The pesto was more than plentiful as the entire dish looked like it was glowing green. The meatballs were not what you’d expect in an Italian restaurant as they had little taste and a wired texture. It tasted like is was just beef with not many spices and a lot of bread crumbs and eggs. Definitely *not* the perfect mix of beef, pork and veal. The tomato sauce was just an average plum tomato sauce. The ravioli definitely was fresh and made on site, but the sauces left a lot to be desired: the bolognese had salt, but not much. The sauce was a bit on the brown side as it definitely lacked tomato and flavor. The pink sauce was just OK— a blend of cream and the average plum tomato sauce. We didn’t finish any of the dishes nor did we want to eat dessert here. Really disappointing for at 1000 point restaurant.
What a great first-time find from a clearly venerable establishment. Great Eastern European staff and bartenders who took expert, wonderful care of us. Thank you!
Great food. Nice staff
Small hidden treasure on 53rd that is well worth going to.
Food was delicious! Our server was very nice and attentive.
Good atmosphere and reasonable priced. Would go back again.
I picked Angelo Bellini based on its Open Table reviews and its proximity to midtown. When we entered, I was pleased by the ambience--quiet, relaxed and in great contrast to the crowded, noisy atmosphere of most Midtown locales. However, service was poor. I ordered pasta Bolognese; my date ordered chicken Parmigana--two staples dishes. My date had asked for lots of sauce. Her dish arrived cold, with congealed Parmigan cheese, and one dried out piece of chicken. My pasta Bolognese would have made a nice appetizer, not the hearty meal I was contemplating. After she sent her dish back, it arrived in somewhat better condition. When we finally got the check, we waited in vain for a good 15 minutes for our server to take my credit card--I finally got up, found the hostess and told her that she could take it or we would leave without paying. She took it. We were glad to depart.
The food arrived almost cold and not at all impressive. All three ordered dished tasted very plain. Also when ordering dessert, we picked the cannoli which had a picture of three, which was perfect since we were a company of three. When the dessert arrive it was only one on the plate. We paid $10 for one cannoli. We expected three. You can't have pictures on the menu if it don't represent what you actually get and pay for!
They charged an 18% (!) service fee, which was not deserved. When asked about it, the host had no idea what I was talking about. You would think that they are aware of the fact that they are charging people an additional 18%. We did not tip extra, since 18% was way more than we would have tipped.
