Andy's Jazz Club Ratings and Reviews
Food and drinks overpriced. Undisclosed cover charge at the door ($20 for 2 people - adding to the already absorbident total). Band was decent, but far too loud and the drummer kept soloing unnecessarily and for extended periods of time. The patrons (including us) kept looking around at each other in awe that this kept happening. Service was par. There are other lounges with better live music that are more reasonably priced.
We celebrated our son's 18th birthday with dinner and a great combo, the Chris Foreman Soul Message Trio. The music, food, and setting were a perfect way to commemorate this milestone birthday. Chris on the keyboard, Lee on guitar, and a most phenomenal drummer whose name I can't recall (sorry! but fantastic). So glad we could find some jazz on a Tuesday night.
My wife and I went here for her birthday on a whim to stay in Chicago for the weekend, we didn't even know it was there and just saw it in the local area. The staff working there were so friendly and polite and treated us really well, our waiter Elias was really really friendly and took care of us wonderfully. The music was fantastic we saw the quartet play for about an hour and a half and they really blew us away. The food was fresh the atmosphere was just great. So glad that we stumbled upon this gem in that area. Highly recommended.
Had a reservation for 1 here on a night when the Low Down Brass Band was playing. I didn't plan on eating a bunch of food before I arrived but I got hungry before my 9:15pm reservation, so all I ended up ordering were Truffle Fries, which were great!
$15 cover charge for the music but I would've been willing to pay more! The band was great and I was very impressed with the restaurant's light up menus and servers that could somehow hear people's orders despite all the noise.
The ambiance is so great and very authentic. Highly recommend if you love jazz and a cool, snazzy atmosphere.
This was a really bad restaurant. We went for a night of jazz and bar food. The food was bad, the service was terrible, the $10 cover charge wouldn't be refunded even though the band was 45 minutes late and we only got to see 20 minutes of it. On top of all of it, the jazz was really really bad.
David is a hospitable host. The East Hubbard Jazz Orchestra was a 16-piece fire-breathing dragon. To see a band this talented and tight in such a small venue is a special treat (and this group plays here weekly!)
In a city full of live music options, Andy's is one of the first places you should visit.
Overall the experience was good. My wife and I went for our Anniversary, since she loves live Jazz. The music was great, and the staff was pleasant. The only downsides is that the service was a little slow, and the food was mediocre. I would still recommend the location for the ambiance, history and music, and we could certainly wind up back there again. Overall I think I would go somewhere better for dinner next time, and then head to Jazz Showcase for a more intimate music experience.
Andy’s Jazz club was already highly recommended to me when i found out that they were completely booked Saturday night. Determined, i went back Sunday night and got to listen to the house band play. Food was phenomenal, drinks were just okay. BUT the music!! It was amazing. It’s been a little bit since I’ve heard jazz live and i can’t wait to go back again.
My experience began as a great one, but over the course of the evening it began to decline. There was a $15 cover charge at the door per person, the wait staff was ok but a little slow. Towards the end of the evening we ordered drinks but due to a 2 hour sitting limit at a reserved table you get booted and are forced to stand at a crowded bar if you choose to stay. While waiting for our drinks our server was unable to find us so the drink order was lost and so was cash we dished out on the drinks.
While waiting at a crowded bar area and when I say crowded I mean over crowded literally shoulder to shoulder, we decided to leave. The food was great, music is phenomenal, service could use some work but other then that I would not return on a weekend night, maybe it's less crowded during the week.
