Andy's Jazz Club Ratings and Reviews
Andy’s Jazz club was already highly recommended to me when i found out that they were completely booked Saturday night. Determined, i went back Sunday night and got to listen to the house band play. Food was phenomenal, drinks were just okay. BUT the music!! It was amazing. It’s been a little bit since I’ve heard jazz live and i can’t wait to go back again.
My experience began as a great one, but over the course of the evening it began to decline. There was a $15 cover charge at the door per person, the wait staff was ok but a little slow. Towards the end of the evening we ordered drinks but due to a 2 hour sitting limit at a reserved table you get booted and are forced to stand at a crowded bar if you choose to stay. While waiting for our drinks our server was unable to find us so the drink order was lost and so was cash we dished out on the drinks.
While waiting at a crowded bar area and when I say crowded I mean over crowded literally shoulder to shoulder, we decided to leave. The food was great, music is phenomenal, service could use some work but other then that I would not return on a weekend night, maybe it's less crowded during the week.
Andy's was a special treat for us. We booked in advance (strongly recommended) and had a lovely evening. We did the earlier seating at 6.45pm. We were seated promptly and asked our preference on seating - nearer the stage, or further back etc. Our waiter was very efficient, the food and drinks were excellent. I had the short ribs, my husband the lamb - both delicious. Highly recommend Andy's for a great evening.
Server was curt but effective, was not interested in chit chat (understandably so given the live music). Food was subpar at best. Ambiance was wonderful. I sat in the center back tables by the wall with the pictures --great spot. Privacy with a great view of the stage. Not too close that you feel you're disturbing the musicians.
Andy's is an eclectic jazz experience accompanied by good food served by a welcoming and accommodating staff. I made reservations for my only available night, not knowing what kind of jazz I would hear. I got Coltrane. Not my favorite, but I would do it again. Andy's is a must see place whenever we are in Chicago.
The place was great. The music super fun and the food was pretty good. But our waiter was not very friendly. Not sure why. She did the bare minimum and when I asked her if she could take a picture of my group, she said she would be back later but never did. I also asked another waiter if they had outlets (to charge my phone) and he said bluntly "no". But overall great place and will definitively come back.
We were out of town visiting Chicago and wanted a jazz club experience. Andy’s was such a great place to go! The jazz band was really good, so enjoyable. We were surprised by how good the food was also! The teriyaki steak appetizers were amazing, and the burgers are made to order and were really good and reasonably priced. The waiters were friendly and very attentive. Thanks for a great night out.
I chose Andy's because of the music scheduled to play on the evening I had free while in Chicago.
As a solo diner, I was sat next to the stage which I certainly didn't mind as the place was pretty much full for a 9pm Friday show. The illuminated menus were a fantastic touch!
I eat the Taco Flight Trio and was attended by a great waitress (whom I should probably have tipped (more)). The food arrived quickly and my drink was frequently replaced before I needed to ask.
All in all, I had a great time and will be back if I'm ever lucky enough to be back in the Windy City.
