Andrew Michael Italian Kitchen
Very disappointed. People at work encouraged me to go to dinner at this restaurant. We had the tasting menu and I couldn’t have been more underwhelmed. The first course was swordfish and it was incredibly fishy, to the point that I couldn’t eat it. The second course was duck. It was way over spiced. I think it was cooked well but there were so many conflicting flavors on the outside of the meat it overpowered the duck. The third course was lamb. It was basically a stew. Lamb can be prepared in so many wonderful ways, I’m surprised they chose such an unimaginative way to prepare it. The main course was beef which was actually pretty good. The dessert course was strawberries. Just a plain strawberry shortcake. Nothing special. Overall, i didn’t see anything the least bit Italian or appetizing. I won’t waste my time going back.
We've eaten at Andrew Michael's on many occasions, but this was the first time we had poor service. Our table of 4 ordered the 5 course meal and the server thought only three of us ordered that, so one person had to wait to get food. When asked about the tasting menu, her description was, "it's good." She didn't explain what our first course was and didn't mention the wines at all, so we had to ask the folks bringing the food for descriptions of the food and wines. She may have been new, but it wasn't a positive experience and certainly much different than any other time we've eaten at AM.
One of the best meals I have had in Memphis.
Food choices are interesting and not the same old choices. Food is fresh and beautifully presented. Tried new tastes and glad to find new favorite! Not usual wine selection.
Staff very attentive. Clearly explain the choices and willing to offer suggestions with rationale for what the dish has to offer.
Only down side is can be a bit noisy, though balanced by sense of intimacy w the small rooms.
Food was delicious and our server, Mickey, was fab!
I had heard so many good things about this restaurant. I was very disappointed. The food just wasn’t very good. The service was great though. For the amount of money we spent, I expected the food to be much better.
Yes, I have recommended A/M to many people. Always perfect service. Amanda was a wonderful waitress. The food is always innovative but, the flavors are familiar. Observation: No one table had salt & pepper shakers.... They don't need them.
We celebrated our anniversary at Andrew Michael Italian Kitchen. Our favorite Memphis restaurant has been Catherine and Mary's (also an Andrew Michael Restaurant). The food was just as amazing as C&M's, but it was much quieter, which made it a great spot to celebrate our anniversary. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and helpful, including with making wine recommendations. We will definitely be back.
The Andrew Michael staff and management help make my wife's birthday dinner an excellent night. Thank you so much A|M!
This is our favorite place in town to celebrate any / all occasions.
I found the atmosphere and the staff down to the valet impeccable! The scallops and the soup was fantastic. However, the rest of our choices were mediocre. Both pasta dishes, both with ground duck, and the lamb were passable with the octopus being pretty good. I had a garden salad which had too much dressing and too tangy for my tastes. The two desserts we shared (the top two according to the waitress) were really good-- a chocolate type pudding cake with chocolate sauce in the center and bread pudding. I hope to go back before I leave Memphis and give them another chance.
Stunning food. Beautiful atmosphere--warm, inviting, quiet, comfortable, candle-lit (with REAL candles), understated perfection. Impeccable service--our waitress, Amanda, was friendly and open with informed, genuine recommendations and the rest of the staff made you feel like family as well. I cannot recommend this place highly enough, they made our 15th wedding anniversary a lovely memory.
Great food and service! Great place for a date night or a night to catch up with friends!
We have been to hundreds of restaurants in many places around the globe, and we both totally agree that this meal was the very best we have ever had. Recommend VERY HIGHLY. Love the place!
Had a wonderful dinner at Andrew Michael for our 11th year anniversary. Food, service and atmosphere was top-notch!
We had appetizers and pasta there and the food was great. Our service was efficient and we loved the environment. The valet is great as well.
Very interesting menu and knowledgeable servers. Excellent sommelier who helped us make some nice selections.
Birthday dinner and everything was outstanding, as per usual. The octopus remains a favorite. The happy hour specials are delightful and the sticky toffee pudding is to die for!
Carbonara was loved by my 8 year old and portions were perfect.
We had an incredible experience! The food was amazing. The service was amazing. The drinks were amazing. It felt like everyone went above and beyond just for us to have a great night. Our server Mickey was very helpful in explaining the menu and giving us recommendations. We both decided to do the Chefs tasting for our dinner. With that, I knew I wanted to do the wine pairing which I was very excited for. My boyfriend does not care for wine but loves whiskey. When we told Mickey that he went to the bar and his manager Evan with the information and Evan immediately offered to do a whiskey pairing with the dinner. My boyfriend agreed and loved it. Evan and the bartender Will did a great job of pairing each course with a unique whiskey for him. They also did the same for my wines. Evan was very knowledgeable and up to the challenge. We were so impressed and thankful. It really made our night that much more amazing!! Thank you so much!!
Food was delightful; the place unfortunately smelled like sewage.
For a fancy date night, my wife and I were excited to get spoiled. When the smell hit us right as we arrived, it was hard to focus on anything else. I even mentioned it to my wife when we sat down and she agreed. My poker face wasn't very good and when the manager asked our feedback on the way out, I shared about the smell. He was surprised by the smell and brushed it off sadly. I've since asked others and had people tell me they've smelled it too. Sadly, this alone will keep me from choosing it as a big night out date night.
Amazing restaurant. must try the scallops!! all small dishes are incredible!!!
I have been at this place previous years and the food was perfect also the service. Never really had a complain.
Until this visit happened, the food was just ok. The flavor was just like any other restaurant nothing special as it used to be . The service was poor our waiter keeps forgetting to bring us food, bread. He had us waiting for so long.
Waiter was very informative and explained each dish. We had the pasta dishes and they were very good. Would love to see some veal dishes. Not very many parking spaces but they do have valet.
Fantastic place, intimate atmosphere. Very relaxing.
I have yet to go to an A|M restaurant and not fall completely in love with the offerings. Every dish we were served was a feast for the eyes and made us want to order seconds! This is definitely a special occasion spot, but we will for sure be back!
I couldn’t wait to have dinner at Andrew Michael Italian Kitchen after having dinner at Hog and Hominy a few times and owning the Collards & Carbonara cook book ... dinner was amazing and Michael our server was incredible !
My husband and I made reservations. We were seated promptly. The food is amazing. Excellent wine list. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal.
I had some perfectly prepared gnocchi, and the best octopus ever! My drink was spectacular as well. The menu on Open Table was the previous one, and the Halibut I came for was not to be found. However, by the end of the night I left, and immediately made reservations to return for some more octopus!
Had an incredible experience! The food was amazing and service was fantastic!
Extraordinary meal! The octopus was a truly special dish. A&M Breakfast was very tasty and unique. Delicious fresh pork rinds.
We enjoyed the lamb as well! They have a nice happy hour with snacks and the sticky toffee pudding was top notch.
The entire staff was highly professional, friendly, and warm without being overbearing. They also did a wonderful job accommodating my tree nut allergy. Highly recommended for any occasion!
Our first visit. Really enjoyed the octopus appetizer and the potato gnocchi. Mickey was our server and he was excellent. Cocktail menu is superb as well!
The night was perfect! Could not ask for a better environment:-)
My husband, my 21-year-old daughter, and myself went to Andrew Michael’s for the first time on Saturday night. It took us over a week to get a reservation in the early evening (6:15pm) as we like to eat somewhat early. When we entered the restaurant, we noticed there were very few people there, even though when I changed our party of 2 to 3 it gave updated us to a 9pm. I called the restaurant directly, and they called me back and told me that we could have three people at 6:15. We ordered the blue crab cakes for an appetizer, and our entrées consisted of shrimp scampi, chicken parmesean, and veal parmasean for our entrees. We ordered drinks, my daughter and I split Tiramasui and my husband had Creme Brûlée. Nothing really outstanding except for the crabcakes. The tiramisu and crème brûlée were very good! Of the 3 entrées the shrimp scampi was probably the best. Service was excellent, and we stayed an hour and 15 minutes, and only 2 more tables arrived. That was the enigma - why so hard to get a reservation at a restaurant when it was sparsely attended? We won’t be back, as there was nothing outstanding about the food or atmosphere.
The chicken liver toast was great. Also the pasta dish with duck ragu, fabulous. And we had the quail was real good too. Drinks are unique which adds fun to the evening. Servers are so helpful. A great night
We love Andrew Michael but this time the lamb was tough, $18 glass of wine seemed skimpy, waitress was ok and left our water glasses empty for too long it seemed, and the gnocchi was too heavy on the pesto. Didn’t make us want to return super soon -:)
Our server was very well versed with the menu and provided valuable insight into the wonderful options.
And, the popcorn gelato was amazing!
The service here was very good. Our appetizer was really good, but main course was not great.
Great food and service. WSU or was great to give spotlight in suggestions. Mexafornication cocktail was awesome!
Food is interesting and provides great flavor. Great evening!
