Excellent food. Great service. Definitely going back and try their dinner menu.
Our second visit. We were engaged here back in 2013. We told the wait staff but it did not seem to have an impact. We had no expectations.
Food was delicious! Service was friendly, prompt and caring.
The only difference between this visit and our first was that we noticed on our first visit that just about everyone on the staff took a minute to chat with us and made the experience very personal. On this visit we didn’t experience that which was a bit disappointing.
Otherwise the experience was very nice.
Had steak frites and it was very tasty and a good size steak, but there was a fair bit of gristle and fat. The French fries were the large king with a bit of the skin on - overcooked. Great wine selection!
The experience overall was very pleasant, however, when we received the bill, we were surprised to see a charge for opening an expensive bottle of champagne.
Because of where I work, I am often asked to recommend places to eat, I do say, Andre Bochee often. Next time I recommend you, I will mention the corkage fee.
Also, the black cod that I ordered, had a rather strong taste.
We have been wanting to try Andre's Bouchee Bistro since we moved to Carmel and I'm glad we did. We started with the Chicken Liver mousse and it delivered! Great creaminess and a hint of the chicken liver. The toasted bread was crunchy and buttery, fantastic. Wish we had a touch more mustard. Next we had the Butter Lettuce Salad and the Cream of Wild Mushroom soup. The BLS had this wonderful roquefort vinaigrette and radishes. (it's a breath stinker but worth every bite). The CWMS was so creamy and delicious. You really got a good mushroom flavor from this soup. Last course we had The Local Black Cod Special and the Confit de Canard in a Lentil Bacon stew. I can't comment on the LBCS but the look on my wife's face, and the yum sound, said it was delicious. CdC dish was very rich but that's why you order duck confit!
We're definitely going back to try some of the other dishes!
The food was pretty good and the service was excellent but priced too high for the overall quality of the dinner.
There are several restaurants of better quality in SF and even in the City the prices are lower.
I guess it is the surcharge for "by the sea"
We had a lovely time, and the food was delicious.
We have visited Carmel for years, however this restaurant has only been in town for 2 1/2 years. We liked the Open Table information, so selected it. GREAT CHOICE! Although it was Tuesday in January (That's a local phrase) we dined in style. There was only two other couples in the restaurant, so we had plenty of time with our waitress, LOUREN (?). She was superb! Friendly, smart, attentive and cared about us. Throughout the dinner, we engaged her in conversation. She recommended a local wine to us which we thoroughly enjoyed. She has been at the restaurant for 2 + years and is married to the Executive Chef. A great couple. My wife and I discussed our evening as we drove back to our motel and both agreed is was the highlight of our visit to Carmel. We will tell others about Andre Bouchee's Bistro and will return again, ourselves. Sure hope Louren will be there to greet us!
Wonderful as always
This is the most charming restaurant and the perfect neighborhood gem.
Very nice place with good service, a little over priced for what you get.
We've been before but this visit was way off. It seemed like they were very short staffed. Our meals were not excellent, just ordinary. We were sorely disappointed.
The only thing I can complain about is the time it took for our entrees to arrive. We waited 30 + minutes which caused our lateness to our concert. Not the waitstaff fault, the wine list was also expensive but very good, nice sommelier!
The food is fresh, deliciously made and beautifully presented. Meet the expectation of a French Bistro.
We enjoyed everything about our New Year's Eve dinner with family at Andre's Bouchee -- the food was absolutely delicious, service was attentive and very friendly, and the atmosphere was great! We had a wonderful time! We're looking forward to visiting again next time we're in Carmel.
Love it. Perfect if you want choices that are typically French. Delicious.
This has become one of our favorites in Carmel. Great menu, great service, very comfortable - just love it! We shared the house made pate, which was great, both had the cream of mushroom soup, which is the best ever; I had the rack of lamb and hubby had the steak au poivre. The lamb was perfectly prepared, and served over a bed of roasted baby root veggies, which were exquisite! Would have loved to have to dessert, but dinner was too good to leave any behind.
This restaurant was a disappointment. The food was good the wine list was mediocre but the service was the main problem. Our server completely ignored us from the minute we sat down .. we spent much of the meal waiting for him to return with more water or another glass of wine. We weren’t asking for much but he was terribly unattentive.
A wonderful and enjoyable dining experience. When we visit the Carmel area again, this restaurant will be on the top of our list.
Outstanding French Calif Cuisine. Lovely attentive service
Menu is creative and a special place to share with ? To create a great memorable evening out
Lovely bistro. Warm and cozy. Excellent service.
Authentic French menu, and vey nice ambience.
Good to sit down at a table, or enjoy time at the wine bar.
Much appreciated that the mayonnaise was made from scratch. How many restaurants would do this these days for their customers?
Amuse-gueule of bone ham and accompanying bread was perfect in its simplicity.
Only regret were the pommes frites from unpeeled potatoes. Don't like the bitter taste due to the skin (and it puzzles me that 90% of the USA restaurants haven't figured this one out).
Overall a very pleasant dining experience.
We were staying in Carmel during Christmas Eve so planned to have a nice dinner with my wife in the Bistro. Overall experience was very pleasant, food was brilliant as well as wine. We enjoyed the evening very much and would recommend the place.
This was our third visit, and have been very pleased each time. Love the daily specials, and of course the happy hour pricing and selection. The staff is very friendly and everyone works well with each other, and they each pick up the slack as needed.
Perhaps my expectations were too high. I wasn't as impressed as I had hoped.
Charming restaurant with a quaint ambience.
Service was very attentive & friendly.
Food, however, wasn't as expected. First, eclectic menu didn't make it easy to even find something we really wanted.
Do not get the onion soup...
May give it another chance, but with so many great options in Carmel, it won't be soon.
First impression, the dining room had a disgusting smell of broken sewage.
Then, other 2 tables came later than us were served with food . I raised my hands and the waiter realized that they forgot our dinner order. Although he apologized but lied about why other later customers were served (they order Oysters and easy to make ). On my way to the rest room, I saw this table of customers order steak, no oyster. So, I knew the waiter lied and no further apology and compensation for us waiting more than 1/2 hour.
We will not recommend this restaurant to others based on our 1st impression of sewage smell and lying waiter😔
Very nice food salmon and steak plus good service and a good wine list
Lovely romantic dinner, delicious food, warm hospitality. Truly outstandingly no experience!
Charming French bistro. I had the veal tenderloin and scallops, best veal I've ever had. Lovely braised vegetables. Nice French ambiance, good staff.
Good but expensive.
Fabulous meal. Great service. Food was delicious. Fabulous bottle of wine at an amazing price.
Wish I had the option of giving this place 4 1/2 stars. My wild mushroom soup and my husbands partridge pate were excellent. Unfortunately, the seared Foie Gras and the abolone, while good, we’re not as good as the first 2 dishes. The sauce on the seared Foie Gras was too sweet for my taste, but someone with a sweet tooth would probably love it.
This is our second dinner at Andre Bouchée and it was even better than we remembered. Our friends from Napa have wonderful restaurants to choose from, so their high praise was especially gratifying. From appetizers through entree and dessert, everything was top notch. Their sommelier Jacque is very knowledgeable and our group was thrilled with his assistance. We were celebrating my husband’s birthday, and he was so happy with our table, the food and service that he made a pact with our friends to celebrate his 60th birthday there next year. We will be back in between.
Best Dinner in Carmel! Returned to Andre's Bouchee for a nice dinner out, and were not disappointed. Mushroom soup and the Pate du Jour were delicious! Entrees were the Black Cod and Dover Sole - rarely found on seafood menus in California - both excellent as well. Service attentive and timely from waiter, server, hostess and manager. We shall return!
We enjoyed a lovely evening here on Thanksgiving. I was worried the special menu would be limiting but in fact I had a great selection. Would have liked to have had the option for full menu but as it was Thanksgiving I guess it made sense. Sommelier was very friendly after a lukewarm welcome at the bar and was very knowledgable about wine and gave us some great advice about local wineries to try. Ambience was lovely and staff very friendly but didn’t over fuss the table which was nice.
Went for Thanksgiving dinner. Everything was so delicious and perfectly portioned. The service was excellent everybody was so friendly. Eating out was a different change of pace for us, but was made special Thanks to you!
not worth the price - mediocre at best. meal was served lukewarm, and flavor less.
The food was ok.. the rib-eye was wonderful, but the mushroom soup was not good!
