Andre’s Bouchée Bistro and Wine Bar Ratings and Reviews
The bistro was excellent. Service was lovely and friendly and very knowledgeable waitresses. The guy who recommends the wine made a great choice for us after considering what we ordered. Very impressed. The food was delicious and presented beautifully. My only criticism is the lack of reasonably priced bottles of wine. Very few bottles in the $50-$100 range.
Other than that we loved it.
My best friend and I dropped in at Andre's Bouchee before an afternoon of shopping . Andre's is a quaint French restaurant in the heart of Carmel-By-The-Sea (within walking distance to lots of great shops). When I think of French restaurants, I think stuffy and overpriced, but Andre's is casual and the staff is so warm. The owner, Elizabeth is wonderful. She always makes us feel like family.
We ordered the Escargot, Steak Frittes, and Mussels for lunch and finished off our meal with coffee and the most wonderful beignets filled with creamy lemon curd. We were happy campers. We didn't order anything from their wine list because we had a long drive home, but the wine selection was very good.
The escargot was delicious. I'm always afraid escargot will be rubbery, but the dish at Andre's had a wonderful texture. The escargot was served on top of a puff pastry with a delicious sauce and pistachios and radishes that were very tasty (not bitter). All in all, it was a great Saturday afternoon meal. I can't wait to go back.
Loved it. Authentic food and dining experience all around. Only one couple on their phones. All other guest were engaged in table conversation. We had just the right amount of time between courses to enjoy each. The wine recommendations were fabulous. I'm looking forward to the next special occasion and returning here to celebrate..
Excellent French cuisine! The sommelier was AMAZING! He provided excellent drink pairings with each of our courses. We got the foie gras and bone marrow appetizers. I got the duck confit entree, while my husband had the mussels. For dessert I had the molten chocolate cake and my husband had cheese. We had a fantastic experience and will return in the future. Parking is terrible, but that's expected when going to downtown Carmel.
Our second meal under Chef Patel this year, and we're excited to see his progression as he settles in. The foie was perfect with the intense sauce restrained to a gentle touch instead of a sledgehammer. Salads are always perfect here; flawless dressing in just the right amount. Soups were excellent. I find the Croque overbrowned but our companion enjoyed it. The duck with lentils was mixed; duck was overcooked and dry but the Puy lentils were superb, done better by Petel than any I've had before. Service is ALWAYS 5-star here. Lunch menu is short compared to dinner, but you can dine superbly here day or night. This is our favorite restaurant in Carmel, and has been since we discovered it back in 2010.
I found Andre's Bouchee on my restaurant dining site. We were visiting Pacific Grove for a golf tournament. I love French food and fancy myself a gourmand, so the menu looked and sounded very creative and different. I loved the escargots in the choux pastry shell, had not seen that done before, (I will try that at home now) my husband had the abalone (both appetizers), we then had the mussels and the duck confit. Everything was superb, delicious, beautifully plated and presented with each dish having its own original, distinctive taste and flavours. It is unfortunate we live in Sacramento, otherwise we would be dining at Andre's Bouchee more often. We have sent your restaurant link to our friends in the event they are in Carmel in the near future. Bon Appetit.
They have monthly supper club events on Mondays. I've been to four of them, 2 were great 2 were awful. Wine pairings are good, interesting, but very small. With not publishing the menu, serving organ meat as the entree is just bad.
I'm done with supper club, will do the regular menu, but less frequently.
Andre's Bouchee offers a relaxing atmosphere, fresh creative food, and unpretentious attentive service. My brancino filets were perfectly grilled and placed on a bed of fresh sweet corn with fresh figs. Each bite was amazingly delicious. My husbands rib eye steak was flavorful and tender and was served with a lovely wine butter sauce. The escargot appetizer, salad with port soaked pears, and the peach tartan with ice cream and caramel sauce were excellent. Unlike some trendy restaurants, Andre's portions and sauces (not just a drip or two) were generous.
Our dinner was outstanding! I had dover sole and it was the best I have ever had. I would go back to Carmel just for that meal!! My husband had the ribeye which was excellent. The service was also outstanding and the noise level is very low, which is nice for a special occasion. Has become our favorite dining in Carmel.
My girlfriend and I came for dinner. We had a fabulous time! Our waiter, Rodrigo, was excellent and was fun to chat with. The food was really great. It was my first time trying escargot and raw oysters. Both were great! However, I think our eyes were bigger than our stomachs because we ordered 3 appetizers, shared a main dish, and shared the French onion soup - which was more than enough. However, I was glad I got the chance to taste a few different items because everything was delicious! The amstophere of the restaurant was very romantic and relaxing - including the bathrooms :)
Don't waste your money. Food was below average and service was none.
Never going back. Steak was lacking sauce and it was gray except for grill marks.
Onion soup was good but the bread under the cheese wasn't even toasted.
The beef cheeks sauce was bland. What a disappointment.
