Andrea's Ratings and Reviews
Great Italian restaurant in the heart of Metarie. Restaurant provided last minute limo service for pick up from our hotel. The owner Andrea, was very accommodating in both the service provided and stayed open late for my family to dine and relax for our anniversary. The food was fresh, and was prepared with the heart. The menu was full of great dishes to chose from and our waiter Santino made great recomendations on seafood. This is a classy restaurant and you get what you pay for, so don't expect Olive Garden prices. Highly recommended for a nice dining, real Italian experience.
Andrea never disappoints! The crabmeat ravioli is to die for and the rigatoni carbonara is delish but rich. This is one of FEW restaurants where you are not rushed and the service is excellent. It is nice to eat in a quieter atmosphere too. The decor may not be HGTV but I come for the food and service. Chef Andrea always visits the dining room to thank the patrons for coming. He rocks along with his salmon entree. Will continue to be repeat customers.
We drove into New Orleans and stopped for a late night dinner at Andreas'. We were greeted by Andrea himself. The service was great, some places for after 9 dinner rush you and are cleaning up around you, you feel in their way. Not Andreas', we felt relaxed and the food was great! The atmosphere were very nice as well. Great place. They have a separate bar area with jukebox music and bar food, people were dancing and having fun, we noticed as we were leaving.
Four senior-citizen friends had lunch at Andrea's. Food was good, ambiance was good, service was good. We enjoyed our meal and had coffee afterward. I think price was average for this level of restaurant, although being seniors we have to be careful with our money and not too extravagant. To us, this is a "special occasion" restaurant and not someplace we could eat every day. All-in-all, an enjoyable experience.
The food and wait service is of good quality. My disappointment was the air condition was not functioning and we were not informed before our party of 8 arrival at 8:30 a. m. We were seated in dining room and it was uncomfortable. No one apologized for our discomfort. However, after our quick breakfast, we noticed the other side of the restaurant was cool. It was set up for a lunch or banquet perhaps. We were out by 10:15 and would have preferred a more pleasant temperature. Or at least a comp for our coffee and teas. Rather a disappointment.
We enjoyed the food, service, and evening very much. Mr. Andrea came out and talk to the guests at the tables. Mr. Bobby Ohler was playing music in the lounge area and we listened to him for several hours after our meal. He was excellent with a great variety of music. As I said, it was an excellent night and looking forward to our next visit.
Not sure if there was a problem with our server or the kitchen, but several things were incorrect. She did accommodate our granddaughter's indecision by bringing an alternative dessert, on the house. This was quite unusual for Andrea's which has always been top notch in both food and service.
Very good food and the service was wonderful. I am the server if the pompiano was fresh She checked with the kitchen and I was assured of the freshness of the fish. I had the Pompano with lemon butter and capers and it was delightful. My friend had Veal Parmesan and loved it. We ordered dessert , homemade Praline Cheesecake and it was decadent.Love going to Andrea s
I love Italian food.
I loved when the chef/owner came to our table to welcome us and thank us for coming.
Thats where the love stopped
It took our server 25 minutes to provide water and a chef comp
35 minutes to take the order and then I had to remind her i was waiting on a bottle of Caymus (a top shelf wine)
Before i recd my salad the waiter for adjacent table spilled a martinii on me (he apologized but offerred no assistance or compensation for my now alcohol filled linen shirt).
When the appetizers were served the server put them down incorrectlly .
When the entrees were served they put a pork chop in front of me and said it was the duck (biggest duck bone I ever saw)
Took 20 more minutes to bring my duck which was still cold in many places ( i belueve they just took it out of the freezer.
I would say I wanted to love it but in reality they need to fire some employees and get it right if they want repeat business
one star for food everything else zero
oh yeah they took $20 off my $200 dinner when i told the chef/owner my duck was cold
they should have comped the entire meal when the waiter gave me a martinni shower
there are lots of better choices in nola sorry chef!
Dining started off great. The scallops was not the best, very bland and gritty. then had to wait about 25 mintues between the salad and entre. when waiter asked if we would like a desert we politely said no and asked for the check. Well it took this waiter almost an hour to bring us our check. it seems as though he was more interested in talking to other quest at a table in the corner than waiting on us. we even had to pour the remaining wine in our own glasses. Sadly to say I will not be back
The appetizer, Calamari, was very disappointing - overcooked, over breaded, and I sent it back after one bite, and was surprised it remained on the bill. The entree, Drum Meuniere, was outstanding, I've never had better. The dessert was a delicious chocolatey cake, hard to describe. The service was very good as was the ambience. A business group across the room was a bit loud but not too bad. I had not been to Andrea's in years, and while the beginning was not good, the middle and end were great .
Very good for upper casual to high end.
Went on Father's Day and was disappointed
to find set menu :
3 course meal only
your choice of 3 appetizers, 3 entrees, 3 deserts
Would have preferred to order from the regular menu.
No problem with the food or service, just the limited choices. Value was ok only, without choices
Do not go on slow or odd days (like day after Xmas) when the proprieter isnt likely to be on site. Huge difference (negative) when he isn't there
The food was delicious, as always, but the service was not what we've come to expect from this restauant. We do enjoy the relaxed atmosphere where the courses come at a relaxing pace, so that you can enjoy your dining experience but for this occasion we felt neglected. Yes, it was a holiday, but it was after the rush and the restaurant eps as not packed. By the time dessert was served, we were afraid to order coffee, knowing we wouldn't get it anytime soon and we're ready for the check so we could leave. We will be back but with smaller parties and request a livelier server.
Service very good. Breakfast can't say the same. Father's Day. Grits, potatoes, and turtle soup good, ditto for wine. The rest, not. Wilted lettuce, brown mushy avocado, eggs I cannot describe, crab cake I don't know, steak- don't ask. Pricey for that. Good ambiance and a nice time around the table, but left unsatisfied.
Great old school Italian vibe. Immediately I was excited to enjoy a classic Italian dish. Accordingly I ordered the linguini and meatballs. I was disappointed with the flavor and even consistency of the dish. The sauce was bland and taste and looked like something out of a Ragu jar of sauce you would buy from the store. The meatballs were tough and also not a great taste. And the linguini was over cooked. The ambiance of this place is great! Too bad the food didn't meet expectation.
Great overall. When the owner/chef comes out to talk with and thank customers, you know there is something special about the place. Furthermoore, my wife wanted a classic, non -standard Italian dish that was not on the menu and Chef Andrea prepared it for her. Great choice for a special occasion or just a night out.
The food was very good, but the service did not match. You are paying a lot of money for mediocre service. We went for a graduation dinner, spent a lot of money and was overall disappointed with the experience. When you charge 10 dollars for a side Ceasar salad, you would expect better service. Bottom line, if you are looking for good food, go to an upscale restaurant and have the whole experience. It will cost you the same.
Veal Maria Louisa was the hi light of the meal, tender veal , a perfect sauce and large lumps of crabmeat. The atmosphere is very very nice too. Very cozy and romantic. The house white wine was very good, and a generous glass. Chef Andrea came out to the dining room and warmly greeted each table.
The rest, however, was mediocre. Our waitress was attentive, but very unfamiliar with the menu. We couldn't decide if the bread was stale or just poorly toasted. $8 house salad was lettuce and tomato and the blue cheese dressing was watery, not creamy with chunks of cheese. Oysters en brochette appetizer was terrible, fishy tasting and limp. The veggies that came with the entree were tasty and well prepared and they were very nice about substituting pasta for potatoes. With a few improvements, this could be a much better rating.
My family went to eat here for mothers day, the restaurant had a special event menu for it, as popular restaurants often do on special occasions. The staff was very friendly, the food was phenomenal, and despite the large number of people there, it was very comfortable and not too loud. Loved it.
Our son took us here to celebrate Mother's Day. It was a fixed price menu. Soooo many choices to choose from. I ended up getting turtle soup for an appetizer, lamb Osso bucco and strawberry shortcake. The portions were extremely generous and the food was fabulous! We will definitely go here again!
Our first time at Andrea's was brunch for Mother's Day. The service was great and our server, although slow due to the amount of guests dining, was very kind and attentive. The food was delicious and my even my kids enjoyed their meals. My only complaint was that our table was situated right outside the server station, my seat closest to them, and I was constantly bumped into by the servers coming and going. I'm guessing they are not used to having a table there. Trying to have a conversation with my family, I had to speak over the servers commiserating while they were putting in orders. Not a great experience.
