Andrea had to be one of few favorite Italian restaurants I’ve attended. We started off my getting a salad that was special on their menu, the Caprese salad with truffle vinegrette. Let me just say it was AMAZING. Loved every bit of it. I ordered the truffle fettuccini Alfredo and my fiancé ordered the bone in rib eye. Both meals were excellent. We also topped it off with a bottle of Veuve Cliquot Rosè. We definitely enjoyed the experience and will definitely be back at our next stay at Pelican Hill.
The service was terrible at best and our waiter was very rude. We arrived at 5 p.m. for a 5:30 reservation. We sat in the bar and one of our party ordered a glass of wine. The waitress asked if we were having dinner and if so, could we pay for the wine before entering the dining room. We said we'd prefer to put it on our dinner tab. Consequently, the wine never came. We sat waiting for 25 minutes. When in the dining room, we had to flag down someone after sitting for 20 minutes to order some wine. That took another 20 minutes and when my husbands wine came (29.00 glass of wine) the pour was less than 1 oz. When I questioned that, the waiter said, it's the glass, an optical illusion - there is more in the glass than what you see! Over the next hour and a half we had to ask, several times, to order a drink, to order our food, to get bread, etc., and each time our waiter acted as if we were inconveniencing him. 3 of us had steaks - no steak knives were given to us and we had to use the dull knives on the table. We said no special dessert (celebrating an 80th birthday) and we all ordered 4 desserts individually. While eating them the waiter brought another dessert over with a candle in it. We again reiterated we didn't want it. When the bill came we were charged $6.00 for the "birthday dessert". I asked a man in a suit (he was going around asking everyone how their dinner was) why we were charged for the dessert and he said "you mean you don't want to pay for it????" - I said absolutely not. He then changed the bill. Our friend is from Spain. He wanted to have dinner for his birthday at Andrea (as both he and my husband played Pelican Hill golf the next day) and it was the worst experience.
I was disappointed with the overall value. View is beautiful and the service is good. But... for a lunch it is expensive. $29.00 for a 6 oz filet and $17.00 for a glass of wine! Price of food does not match the value.
Our waiter was nice and friendly.... but when price doesn't match value it's hard to justify coming back with so many other options.
Fabulous dinner. I had a hard time deciding because of all the wonderful specials offered. Our server, Melissa, was professional and experienced. She was very busy, but handled it like a pro, she made us feel very welcome.
We had a very nice dinner, food was superb.
I had the pleasure of dining at Andrea to treat my kids for doing very well in school. Though it was a long drive from my place, it did not disappoint us. The place was very classy with breathtaking views of the ocean. The service was empeccable from the reception to the table then to the food service. The experience was one of a kind. The food was great....presentation and taste.
Four + hour meal that felt like our server was avoiding us through the whole evening after spilling a glass of champagne on one of the guests at the very beginning. They also tried to recycle my wife's white wine glass and tried to re-serve it as a glass of red wine to another guest's wife vs bringing them new glasses. There was lipstick on the glass! We were hosting a client and his wife and would rather attend other nice locations in laguna/newport after this matter. nothing i'd rather do than sit at a restaurant for 4 hours after all of this.
We had a delicious lunch on the outside terrace overlooking the golf course and the ocean. Service was attentive and friendly and we were wished a happy anniversary by several of the staff. We were able to relax and enjoy our lunch at an unhurried pace, which was appreciated. We also received a special anniversary dessert - a perfect ending. We will definitely return and we won't need to wait for a special occasion to do so.
Had such a lovely experience at Andrea! Came here the first night to celebrate my birthday and ended up coming back three nights in a row. The food is so amazing, cooked perfectly and with such yummy flavors. The service was impeccable. Very impressed and I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants fantastic food and just a great overall experience.
The food was superb, the service was on par with the food. On a Sunday night with a late reservation it appeared the restaurant was short staffed. The general manager went out of his way to help us with menu recommendations, wine commentary (on a bottle we brought with us), a special tasting of items we considered but chose not to order and constant concern with the quality of our dining experience. It was a great night that we hope to repeat again in the near future.
I specifically requested a certain type of seating, they acknowledged the request when I checked in. When being seated I was curtly told that the type of seating I requested didn’t exists.
The problem is it does and I was looking at it.
I have eaten here 50 times and today the hostess that seated me was horrible and rude. Thank you to ruining a special lunch with my elderly mom
My friend and I had lunch here on a Sunday - no special occasion - and we enjoyed the food. I did think that the pricing was overrated. Our lunch came to $92 (without tip) and we had an entree, soft drink, and one desser to share. I would not normally pay that amount of money for a regular lunch. The ice tea was $5, and the (shared) dessert was $14. It was really small. Also, with the Filet Mignon was very little vergetables, one carrot, one potato slice. Definitely noy enough food. The ambience was grest, and the patio area is really nice.
