Andiamo at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman Ratings and Reviews
Apparently there is a problem with mosquitoes recently and as Andiamo is entirely outdoor seating, it is especially problematic. When we arrived for our reservation, we were told that they had tried to call us to let us know it was canceled due to the mosquito problem. This was not true. We had not missed any calls either in our hotel room (at the same property as the restaurant) or our cell phone. Major issue number one!
We were told we could either take food to go or go elsewhere. At our own risk, we could use some OFF and dine there anyway but it was not encouraged. There were a few other families and couples dining there, so we decided to stay. We knew we wouldn't be able to get another reservation so late in the day (7:00 pm on July 4).
Long story short: the service was slow- especially considering by the end of our dinner we were literally the only ones there; the food was fair- baked shells that tasted more like Olive Garden than a gourmet Italian restaurant; there was annoyingly loud music; and the overall awkwardness of being there alone made th mosquitoes seem like the least of the issues.
Went with my best friend for her birthday. Very friendly and accommodating staff from diverse locations (we met Canada, India and Phillipains). Great truffle fries, tasty pasta dish and sandwich, delightful dessert shots. Enjoyed a long conversation before heading over to the Silver Rain spa for pedicures. Only complaint was my friend's sandwich had cheese which she had asked them to omit.
Great ambience and service. Would have given a perfect review but for the price of the wine, a few more cheaper options would have gone well with the rest of the menu, because we thought all of the food we ordered was really good value. Loved the selection of small desserts brought to the table so you could see what looked good before ordering.
I picked Andiamo for something new and different. I did my research and I knew going in that the menu was limited and that it would be pricey for a party of 5. Most of us found the atmosphere good, though I would encourage management to investigate using screened doors with screened-in seating to keep flies to a minimum. The service was prompt and capable and the food was tasty - if only the portions were bigger! We had a 'Debbie Downer' in the group that made things, well, interesting. But, all in all, it's worth a visit for lunch.
I think Andiamo is over-priced. We have eaten at all of the Ritz-Carlton restaurants and while they are all relatively expensive, this one, the least expensive, is the most over-priced and disappointing. The wine wasn't very good and the lasagna was mushy and too salty. We won't be back.
If it's rained at all that week don't even try. We sat down and ordered drinks and we're immediately swarmed by mosquito's and we had prepared for being outside with spray beforehand however unbearable. Cannot comment on the food however ordered a gin gimlet that tasted more like a margarita - so maybe don't ask for something not on the menu either.
We just had the Pizza and some appetizers as a convenient rained-in dinner at the Ritz. Good food but nothing special to write about in the meal. The service was nowhere near Ritz level as the servers were just acting out their training.
Some of the open sitting area was closed due to rain so probably somewhat cramped their style.
The staff is friendly but unfortunately the food was disappointing. This was the first meal at the ritz that we had that was not super delicious. The pizza is nothing to write home about neither is the baked shell pasta as it needed more mozzarella cheese. The ambience is lovely and if you book in advance you can get the table that you like overlooking the harbor which is pleasant. However, I do not recommend the food at this restaurant.
I enjoyed the outdoor restaurant but my only issue was that no one told us that the place had lots of mosquitoes. Between my family of three, we were bitten over 20 times!!! Concerned about the Zika virus, I was pretty annoyed no one told us to spray bug repellent before going to the restaurant. Otherwise, service, food and overall was very good.
Myself and two friends had lunch prior to spa treatments at the Silver Rain spa. We were served by Elizabeth who was friendly and attentive. We had the burger, fish wrap and veggie pasta for lunch and treated ourselves to perfectly sized dessert "shots". Lovely experience and top notch service for less than $100 (this is impressive for Cayman). Booking online was easy and the email reminder was appreciated.
food was good portions too small i was not too happy with table as i had to choose one at the back entrance because there were 2 tables which had small crying kids , so we had to suffer with a table we didnt like because of parents bringing in small children
Came to Grand Cayman for our honeymoon. Tried Andiamo and the Ritz-Carlton. Service was excellent, food was really terrible. I will admit that I have high expectations for the Ritz restaurants, Andiamo did not measure up with the food. Our server was excellent, exactly what I expect for the Ritz.
The food was really good! I had skirt steak which was tender and so flavourful. There just seemed to be some confusion with staff that night. 3 people asked to take our order. No one knew who was our waiter. We felt rushed and took our order and fed all in half an hour. Ha. Made for a short night. The staff are super friendly, just maybe an unorganized night.
Great food, the Branzino was delicious, I definitely recommend! I ate every last bit of it. Though it's an outdoor restaurant there is a nice breeze that flows through since its next to the harbor. My kids enjoyed it as well. kid-friendly atmosphere for all ages. The Gelato is delicious as well and the service is great! We preferred this restaurant over all of the others at the Ritz Carlton Grand Cayman and we dined at all of them, but came here twice.
This place is just plain fun with a great location, superb dishes, and a spectrum of entrees.
It is super kid friendly too but is not a problem at all for those who want to be away from children while dining. Great staff and service... sit on the dock by the water if you can
Very nice place. It is outdoor covered dining. Grand Cayman has a bit of a mosquito problem, this restaurant uses large fans to keep your dining experience mosquito free but the fans tend to be a noisy but the trade off is no bites. Food was good Italian for an island far from New York Italian but a fine dining experience overall.
For being a restaurant associated with the Ritz Carlton this place is extremely disappointing. The only thing I can say was even better than "good" was the service. Which our server was very good and prompt. But definitely not the food you'd expect to receive from somewhere attached to Ritz Carlton hotels. This place is definitely a miss in our book. Travel up to Camana Bay and eat at Lola for much better Italian
