Lovely ambiance. Not a buffet on Sunday but a carefully planned brunch. Nicely presented and very tasty.

Excellent value and quantity of food. Service was outstanding. As usual the ambiance was gorgeous. Kudos to all the staff for safe social distancing and adding to our experience. This restaurant never disappoints… both before Covid and during this challenging time. Thank you Ancaster Mill!

The vegetarian option was amazing… it was a mushroom Wellington.. I had to order a side of mashed potatoes, I found that completed the meal. Over all it was a great meal.

As always, excellent food and service. The open table starters at brunch were particularly memorable. The location is calming and beautiful. Tables were well spaced.

It is not my first time at the Mill. I love this place for their close attention to details. This time, the menu was very limited (it was never large to begin with). There was only one choice of salad; it included endives, which are bitter, and I happen to not enjoy. So, I requested a simple Caesar salad and was told that they only serve what's on the menu. For the entree, I came for the chicken that I had a few times before. Their quarter white meal was always very delicious and served with a side of freshly made mashed potatoes. This time it was one half of an organic chicken breast, accompanied by a grain similar to barley in aldente texture. It was different but I can not say that I enjoyed it. Plus, it was topped with kale that was very chewy, so the combination of both the kale and the grain was too different and not complimenting.
There were only two dessert options, highlighting again the limited menu.
Service was very mediocre. We had 3 different people bringing out our food, one of them (a tall fellow whose name I didn't catch) was very dismissive and abrupt. We had questions about the menu and he looked very noticeably bothered by it. The other two servers were very nice and chirpy, which was much appreciated.
Overall, this was not my best experience at The Old Mill. I would have spoken to the manager to voice our concerns, but we had a guest with us. Instead, I have decided to write this review to voice my concern in the hopes that management will see it.

Table service was very slow, a long time between courses and took over 20 mins before drinks arrived. Can’t wait for the buffet to come back

Lovely late brunch with a view of the waterfall and outside. The restaurant was decorated for the Christmas season, and while the big brunch with carving stations etc is missed, we enjoyed a nice prix fixe menu. Food quality and presentation was fantastic and everything was delicious! There was something for everyone, and the server was also attentive to guest allergies.
Would highly recommend!

Our server was not friendly! He was impatient and did not get my order right ! I had asked for coffee with dinner and did not get it ! We waited for the food for over an hour! The trout was good but what ever was under it was way too salty I could not eat it! When my coffee finally came someone else brought it! I asked him for milk and I got a dirty look! We won’t be back !! So disappointing!!

We have been coming to the Old Mill to celebrate our wedding anniversary since our reception there 18 years ago. Service and meals for the most part have been very good to excellent.
Last year was a bit of a disappointment where there was a delay taking us to our table, slow service and then rushed out before ordering dessert because the allotted time was up. Covid was having its impact.
This last time, Sunday, the Old Mill Team did a stellar job; the staff was very courteous, responsive, caring and coordinated; the food was excellent and portions were decent; and the ambiance was, as always, quite magical. The experience simply could not have been better.
Thank you. You made our special day most enjoyable. Merry Christmas to you all!!

Amazing value for the prix fixe brunch menu!! Service was slightly slow at times and had to wait a bit until our server returned. The main restaurant was a little tricky to find. But such a great experience overall! Was mostly empty when we went (Sunday morning) which was really nice. Beautiful space and venue. Amazing time! Would recommend 100% and would 100% return again !

Having dined at Ancaster Mill for a few times in the past, the recent visit was a disappointment as the food quality has slipped and the food selection remained limited despite re-opening (their menu is only one page for appetizer and main course). I understand the at the peak of the pandemic, restaurants reduced their menu to avoid the food waste due to weak demand, however, given we are in the pandemic for almost two years now and the demand for dine-out has returned to pre-Covid level, I don't quite understand why Ancaster Mill still provides limited food selection.

Our dinner at The Mill was an intimate celebration for my husband’s birthday. We came from Kitchener since we had a positive memories from our earlier dining experiences at The Mill and we really liked the restaurant’s ambiance.
Yesterday however our dining was some disappointment. We were sat at a quiet table overlooking the falls. That was nice. We also noticed that in that particular area the tables were reasonably spaced which we greatly appreciated. Our dinner started with drinks which were fine. For appetizers we ordered parsnip soup and chicken parfait. Soup tasted alright but it was barely warm and the parfait was very runny. For the main I selected the short rib and my husband chose the lamb roulaide. Again the dishes arrived lukewarm. The short rib although dressed in tasty juice was rather dry. The lukewarm temperature didn’t help. The lamb roulaide, barely warm turned out to be very plain and dry. The side of veggie pure didn’t elevate the lamb’s taste, it was simply tasteless. Our dishes were served to us with elegance and grace but no one came to ask how the food tasted nor whether everything is alright. As you would expect in this type of establishment. We ended our dinner ordering fortified coffees that were fine and somewhat compensated for a tasteless meal. Not sure whether our negative experience is a sign of troubled times we are in right now. The restaurant was very busy, it was Saturday night with numerous servers on a floor. In overall, we think there is a room for improvement.

This was a very fine brunch served at table, with an interesting selection of choices, very nicely prepared and presented. It was busy on Sunday, as I imagine the many people who made Sunday Bruch a tradition at the Ancaster Mill are happy that it is back. Thank you for a fine meal.

My mom and I came in for lunch to the Ancaster Mill. We were unpleasantly surprised with the selection of the lunch menu. There was basically no lunch options in the only options were larger portions that we were not interested in for lunch. We then decided to get the chicken liver parfait which was delicious. It was very creamy and had good flavor. I then got the endive salad with chicken and my mom got the same salad with salmon. It was very good but it was not a wow salad by any means. We felt a little disappointed because we were hoping to have a variety of lunch options like the Cambridge Mill has who is their partner. We had cocktails which were absolutely amazing and probably the best out of anything we had. We had the pumpkin smash and cherry pie cocktail which were amazing and perfectly seasonal!! Overall I don't think I'd be back for lunch but potentially would try out dinner.

I was dissappointed that it was expensive and no bread was served before the meal. Some people from our table were left feeling a little hungry still and that should not be the case. There was also no vegetarian dishes or pasta dishes for choices as entrees.

We are still talking about hoe good it was a day later.
We had the celery root soup - spectacular taste and presentation
the chicken - moist and tender - lentils were a little overboard
the trout - delicious, enjoyed the crispy skin, risotto delicious and the right proportion.
The beet dessert was absolutely labor-intensive, delicious, overboard with flavour and how in the world do you make beet dust.
Thank you for a very enjoyable lunch out with friends.
