Amazing value for the prix fixe brunch menu!! Service was slightly slow at times and had to wait a bit until our server returned. The main restaurant was a little tricky to find. But such a great experience overall! Was mostly empty when we went (Sunday morning) which was really nice. Beautiful space and venue. Amazing time! Would recommend 100% and would 100% return again !
Always a delight to be at AM for our anniversary. Menu could be a bit expanded. We miss the bread. Please bring back the bread.
Having dined at Ancaster Mill for a few times in the past, the recent visit was a disappointment as the food quality has slipped and the food selection remained limited despite re-opening (their menu is only one page for appetizer and main course). I understand the at the peak of the pandemic, restaurants reduced their menu to avoid the food waste due to weak demand, however, given we are in the pandemic for almost two years now and the demand for dine-out has returned to pre-Covid level, I don't quite understand why Ancaster Mill still provides limited food selection.
Our dinner at The Mill was an intimate celebration for my husband’s birthday. We came from Kitchener since we had a positive memories from our earlier dining experiences at The Mill and we really liked the restaurant’s ambiance.
Yesterday however our dining was some disappointment. We were sat at a quiet table overlooking the falls. That was nice. We also noticed that in that particular area the tables were reasonably spaced which we greatly appreciated. Our dinner started with drinks which were fine. For appetizers we ordered parsnip soup and chicken parfait. Soup tasted alright but it was barely warm and the parfait was very runny. For the main I selected the short rib and my husband chose the lamb roulaide. Again the dishes arrived lukewarm. The short rib although dressed in tasty juice was rather dry. The lukewarm temperature didn’t help. The lamb roulaide, barely warm turned out to be very plain and dry. The side of veggie pure didn’t elevate the lamb’s taste, it was simply tasteless. Our dishes were served to us with elegance and grace but no one came to ask how the food tasted nor whether everything is alright. As you would expect in this type of establishment. We ended our dinner ordering fortified coffees that were fine and somewhat compensated for a tasteless meal. Not sure whether our negative experience is a sign of troubled times we are in right now. The restaurant was very busy, it was Saturday night with numerous servers on a floor. In overall, we think there is a room for improvement.
Wonderful atmosphere, great food and excellent service.
A great brunch experience with lots of different tastes provided. The setting of the restaurant is incredible The room was exceptionally noisy.
This was a very fine brunch served at table, with an interesting selection of choices, very nicely prepared and presented. It was busy on Sunday, as I imagine the many people who made Sunday Bruch a tradition at the Ancaster Mill are happy that it is back. Thank you for a fine meal.
Meal was very good and our waiter(s) were attentive and very helpful. Overall a very nice meal
My husband and I love going to the Ancaster Old Mill for Sunday brunch. We love the service and the atmosphere is very inviting and mellow. We can relax enjoy our time, and the food is always prepared and served perfectly.
We celebrated our engagement at the Ancaster Mill and the staff really took care of us and made our experience great!… our compliments to the chef!
We really loved the new Brunch menu. Nice change for weekend get together.
A beautiful experience for all your senses- the setting is magical with the waterfall in view, food is exquisite in taste and visual presentation and service as always superb! Highly recommend for a special occasion!
Wonderful ambience, great service and leisurely dining opportunity. Thanks so much
Incredible atmosphere with approachable fine dining. Would highly recommend
My mom and I came in for lunch to the Ancaster Mill. We were unpleasantly surprised with the selection of the lunch menu. There was basically no lunch options in the only options were larger portions that we were not interested in for lunch. We then decided to get the chicken liver parfait which was delicious. It was very creamy and had good flavor. I then got the endive salad with chicken and my mom got the same salad with salmon. It was very good but it was not a wow salad by any means. We felt a little disappointed because we were hoping to have a variety of lunch options like the Cambridge Mill has who is their partner. We had cocktails which were absolutely amazing and probably the best out of anything we had. We had the pumpkin smash and cherry pie cocktail which were amazing and perfectly seasonal!! Overall I don't think I'd be back for lunch but potentially would try out dinner.
Excellent food, well thought menu and gorgeous view. Every detail has been considered. Treat yourself and someone you love cause it doesn't get much better than this!
I was dissappointed that it was expensive and no bread was served before the meal. Some people from our table were left feeling a little hungry still and that should not be the case. There was also no vegetarian dishes or pasta dishes for choices as entrees.
Everything was great. our server and the food were both amazing but we did have to wait over an hour for the entrees to come, so that was a bit disappointing.
We are still talking about hoe good it was a day later.
We had the celery root soup - spectacular taste and presentation
the chicken - moist and tender - lentils were a little overboard
the trout - delicious, enjoyed the crispy skin, risotto delicious and the right proportion.
The beet dessert was absolutely labor-intensive, delicious, overboard with flavour and how in the world do you make beet dust.
Thank you for a very enjoyable lunch out with friends.
We have been coming to the Ancaster Mill got the past 20!years snd have always been impressed with the food and service.
We ate there again last night. The food was once again, outstanding but given, the rise in prices, we felt that the mains should include something like a few fingerling potatoes potatoes or? At least another choice of starch.
Hi there, Thank you for joining us and for being a frequent guest in the Dining Room. As the world is still recuperating from the pandemic, the restaurant industry continues to deal with the downside of increasing prices from food suppliers. As such, we have had to adjust the pricing on our current menu. I can certainly relay your feedback to the team as we strive for continuous food and service excellence. Regards, Desiree Farol - Dining Room Manager
Lovely meal, courteous staff, excellent food. We had a seat by the waterfall which was wonderful. Only glitch was we were expecting a prix-fixe brunch as per their promo email but found it was not offered. However the menu was great so we were satisfied overall.
We absolutely loved our server! We enjoyed watching the waterfall during dinner. What a wonderful and romantic view.
Limited menu disappointing and food very blsnd
Short rib dish was served Luke warm, kohlrabi not very tasty. Background music was turned up too high and basic elevator music.
Trout dish was nicely cooked and lentils were very good.
Great spot for ambience and the experience. The fish was really good. My Husband got the burger which was good, but we were expecting it to be more gourmet from this restaurant. It kind of looked like he got the kid’s meal compared to my beautifully plated meal lol. We had a great date night, service and ambience was great. The food was good but I have had better from less expensive places. I think you are really just paying for the experience which was worth it.
We ordered lamb shanks and bugger with salad. The lamb dish was ver small. My bugger was burned. The salad is hard to chew. The place is beautiful. With quite a expensive price, you should have had better quality of food and better menu choice. The waiter did not even come back to check with us if everything is OK. We won’t come back.
Beautiful scenic place, great atmosphere and service. One down side is that its a wedding venue, so every time we’ve been there there’s crowds. We also never got a chance to sit close to the waterfall, every time it’s basically as soon as you walk in the dining area. This last time, for our anniversary dinner we would of liked to be seated closer to the waterfall.
Server was nice and knowledgeable, great service and food!
Food was delicious although my husbands meal was rather small.
Throughly enjoyed our time
The food was excellent.... but getting a refill cup of coffee or more hot tea water was non existent. Our waiter was good, but we sat too long waiting for service. However, we will be back again.. Your reservation asked me for our dining reason ...which was our 63rd Anniversary.... Why did you ask???
Food was amazing. Never disappointed.
When we arrived to the lobby, there was also another wedding going on. Those guests were wandering past your employees UNMASKED and observed by your staff. It was 4:00. One of your staff told us to go on into the DR. When we passed the 2 staff minding the door, I asked if she wanted to see our proof of vax and ID. She shook her head sideways. I said "You really don't care do you?". I guess she thought I was joking because she just laughed in response. THAT first 10 minutes honestly ruined the anticipation of our anniversary dinner...2 seniors wondering if it was even safe to eat there. SOOOO disappointing for a restaurant with such a stellar reputation. The waiter was good. Oh, and why not...we (and the table across from us by the window) happened to order the duck spread with toast (the name escapes me right now). We made it clear that it was to split between the 2 of us. It came with the spread (delicious) and 3 pieces of toast. The other table commented on the same. Maybe some common sense or math lesson following the lesson on Covid 19 procedures would be a good idea. It was not a good anniversary dinner.
Environment is excellent and well maintain. Server very friendly and they carefully check the vaccine record before allowing people in.
The lamb shank is excellent ! The Craft cut short rib is ok, the Sunchoke Soup taste good and excellent presentation. The only dish I think slightly disappointing is Chicken Liver Parfait!
My mom really thrilled with the overall experience. I will bring the family again.
Another fabulous dinner at the Ancaster Mill! Our party of four enjoyed our meals immensely. The burger was delicious and the roasted char was perfectly done. The service (as always) was exceptional and the views are so beautiful. We find everyone at the Mill is so welcoming & attentive. Thank you!
Hi there, Thank you for joining us again and for your kind words! It was a pleasure having you, as always, and we look forward to welcoming you again in the future. Regards, Desiree Farol Restaurant Manager - Ancaster Mill P: 905.648.1828 | C: 647.884.0080 | E: email@example.com
Service was amazing and beautiful location but food quality was incredibly poor given the price. In the past my wife and I enjoyed the food but clearly the quality has gone downhill. It doesn't seem like there is a proper chef in the kitchen.
The food was great, the server was awesome. The only thing I would come comment about is don’t ask if you have any special requests if you are not going to try to fulfil it. It was our wedding anniversary and it was a simple request.
It was a wonderful experience! The environment is superb. The waterfall, the garden are just gorgeous. The food was great and at very reasonable price. The service was good too. I will definitely go back again.
An excellent dining experience! I would definitely recommend the Ancaster Mill.
My husband and I visited the Ancaster Mill for Thanksgiving dinner yesterday and it was excellent!. The liver pate parfait was the best pate we have ever had. I hope they offer it on the regular dinner menu. My husband had the Lamb saddle and I had the turkey and we loved both. Both so flavourful and tender. Thank you Chef Andrew!
Our waitress, Rebecca was so professional and attentive. She definitely helped to make our evening just perfect. We have already booked our next dinner!
We were very disappointed with our meals. There were 6 of us and no one liked their meal. The salads were under dressed. When I asked for extra dressing we were brought containers that were just oil. My turkey dish was lukewarm, under seasoned, and tough. It also should have been served with a gravy or au jus. Three people in our party chose the lamb entree and it was basically raw. Not rare, raw. One person ordered the vegetarian entree and she said it was OK. The sides for the table were lukewarm.
If we had not been pressed for time we would have sent everything back.
This was an expensive meal. We felt that we had been ripped off.
The last time that we were at this restaurant we were also very disappointed but thought it was a one off. Apparently not. Years ago this used to be a very good restaurant. Not anymore.
