Situated beside a creek, with a large dining room built out overlooking the falls, Ancaster Mill is in demand year-round for weddings, family or corporate events and celebrations. Restored to keep its authentic character intact, this is a place where ambience fuses with fine food and great service.
Fantastic. Food, service, amazing atmosphere, everything. I would definitely return.
Children diners putting fingers into chocolate fountain and staff finding it cute........enough said.
Very good as always, no complaints!
Been to the mill a few times, but was pretty disappointed this time around. The waiter was slow and was never really there to take away dirty dishes. You could tell that a lot of the food in the hot food section had been sitting around in the heaters for quite sometime.
I always love the Mill, however Father’s Day brunch was a bit of a let down. I booked my reservation quite a while ago and was told that it would be a maximum two hour booking which I understand and appreciate given it being a special day. We arrived a bit early and checked in for our 11:45am reservation and had to stand in the extremely crowded and loud entranceway until 12:10 when we were finally seated in the Fallsview room which was at least 1/3 empty. Not sure what the wait was for, but given that we have two very small children (2 and a newborn) at home with a baby sitter, we then had to rush through our brunch and fight through the crowds to get food, which took forever to come out. There were several bookings for large parties (I.e. birthday party, baby shower, etc...) who all swarmed the buffet at the same time. It was overwhelming and a let down because the chaffing dishes were mostly empty and we didn’t get to enjoy all of the dishes. I will return to the Mill, but certainly not to enjoy a milestone day like Father’s Day. We left disappointed.
The whole experience very enjoyable, lots of events going on during the fathers day weekend. Servers really look after our needs and were very attentive to what was happening at our table. The valet service was excellent, one of the attendants offered to take our picture near the falls. Would like to return on a dinner night rather than brunch.
Beautiful location with attentive service. We celebrated Fathers Day brunch and it was busy. They could have had more stations for the crepes, waffles and eggs. Lines were long 15-20 min wait as they only had 1 waffle maker, 1 crepe pan, and 2 egg pans. Had a good brunch selection. Would recommend for special occasions.
Most enjoyable lunch with old friends.
Excellent surrounding. Nice food & service. Definitely will come again.
Our waiter Andrew was very professional, friendly and had great service. My husband and I were entertaining our friends from London England and celebrating their 13th wedding anniversary.
A couple dinning had a baby. The baby cried most of the time and it was quite disturbing.
Other than that we enjoyed ourselves.
Our party had a wonderful time. Top notch from the front to the back. Food was excellent and all of the people in the dining room took very good care of us. Highly recommend the Sunday supper, so relaxing and enjoyable.
We had previously dined at the Mill and had enjoyed both the food and atmosphere. This was not the case on our visit June 10/19.
The food was very lacking, biscuits were over salted and dry, the eggs Benedict had little to no hollandaise sauce and were cold, as were many of the hot dishes . The lamb was overcooked and the beef, although tasty was overly fatty.
The coffee tasted burnt and the Caesar cocktail was undrinkable. It was also presented without celery or a straw which is what one would expect in a restaurant of this caliber.
We were a party of four out for a birthday celebration and the Ancaster Mill disappointed us. After this visit it will be difficult to recommend the Mill.
This was our first weekend getaway for my boyfriend and I and we wanted to enjoy a nice dinner out at a beautiful venue and Ancaster Mill definitely provided!
Our waiter was named Stephen and I highly recommend him as your server if anyone ever goes to this venue.
This might be the best venue we have ever been to. Better than a sunset on the Indian Ocean. Better than a table looking up at Mount Norquay. Better than dockside in San Fransisco on a rare, warm evening ..... Service was excellent, wine list was very good and menu is farm to table. Food preparation & presentation was very, very good. What's not to like?
It was a lovely place to have an anniversary dinner with my wife. Especially, I love the fall right beside the restaurant. Service was fantastic, too!
Wanted to take my wife on a "date night". The Ancaster Old Mill came to mind for its beautiful setting, ambiance, great service and great food. We have been to the Old Mill many times and have never been disappointed. This last time was no exception. If you need a "must have" perfect evening then the Old Mill should be your choice.
Only complaint we had was the lack of parking..had to sit in parking lot 10 min. waiting for someone to leave. this was after going through all parking areas.
Exellent service, fantastic selection beautiful setting! It has been out famiky go to for all special occasions for over 35 years! Always lovely! The only complaint I have is I requested the room with the fireplace ( 3rd time ) & have never been accommodated . I think could do a bit better than a cupcake for a birthday. Otherwise we love the mill.... always lovely
We asked for a table at the end near the falls and were accommodated - but it turned out that that end of the room is very narrow and is all hard surfaces so the noise level was too high for comfort. We had trouble having a conversation or hearing the waiter.
In future I would stay far away from the falls end of the room as the noise was very unpleasant.
The service was excellent and the food was very good. I'm afraid however that I think $12.00 for a small slice of pie is just excessive.
The setting is spectacular -- we looked out on a waterfall as the sky darkened and the lights came on. The service was attentive and helpful as well as prompt but not rushed. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. A total hit.
We got married here 2 years ago and recently went for our anniversary. I had the steak and it was honestly one of the best steaks I have ever had, my husband had the lamb and said it was quite good. I am not a pie eater so did not have any dessert but my husband had the strawberry rhubarb and said he would go again just for the pie.
Beautiful facility, great service, great food...would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great place for an evening out.
The food was very good. Portions were a bit small. The service was wonderful
We really enjoyed the quiet Tuesday evening. Only one other table in service during our meal. This made for a nice quiet intimate meal. Service was excellent. Sadly my rib-eye steak was medium well done, I had asked for medium rare. Otherwise food was great with nice presentation.
The wait staff was amazing. Great seat near the window looking at the water fall. The lamb chops where so tasty and my compliments goes out to the chef for the delicious food.
We will be back for brunch.
My daughter and I attended as a last minute treat for Mother's Day and we were fortunate to get a small table for 2 in a nice space. Our waiter was amazingly gracious to my 9 year old little girl who is new to more formal dining settings. He attended to our every need kindly and with welcoming words. We loved the high quality of choices of delicious foods from the assorted buffets provided. Beautifully presented and fresh!! It's been decades since I last attended the Old Mill in Ancaster and I am so glad we did - and will not wait to do it again! Thank-you for making our special time feel so special! Laura
The Ambiance is worth the price of admission, the staff was incredible! The food choices were ample but being it was mother's day the lines were long for the more popular choices but this was expected so not necessarily a complaint. We had an afternoon seating and they still had a nice assortment of breakfast and lunch options. Lovely to walk around and the magician gentleman at the front was a nice touch for those waiting to be seated.
Not my first time at the Ancaster Mill and won't be my last! Highly recommend.
Amazing service and a great experience
The food, service and ambiance at Ancaster Mill are amazing!
Everything was great! Food and service was top notch.
The setting was beautiful. The water was raging due to large rainfalls over the previous few days and the effect was spectacular! The food was prepared with love. This restaurant prides itself on using local ingredients reflecting the current season. The items on the menu reflected this perfectly. I love that the restaurant has a welcoming family feel; children are not just tolerated, they are embraced. it’s a wonderful place to enjoy a special occasion wether it be a quiet meal for 2 or a large celebration with all your loved ones.
Terrible buffet set up. Wayyy to crowded. Mediocre food
The exterior setting and reception personnel are very inviting and the variety is enjoyable. Variations in the variety would be welcomed by repeat customers. Thank you.
This was my first time attending brunch along with 2 others in our party I thourally enjoyed my experience and would definitely return, we did find our waiter was not around a lot and had to search him out for drinks or speak to someone else to get him for us outside of that we had a wonderful afternoon.
Nice history. Bartender hopeless. A dirty martini should not be difficult. Server good but a little loud. Food excellent. Female welcomers great! Atmosphere was ok and view was nice.
A nice lunch
Always a great dining experience.
This is by far the best value for Easter dinner buffet including wine and cocktails/beer. Aside from the value is the beautiful setting and consistency.
Thank you for a lovely family dinner opportunity.
Until next time,
Loved the Easter Brunch. Food was delicious and service was fantastic. Really enjoyed the magician who entertained us while we waited for our table.
We have visited the Anbaster Mill many times and will continue to return.
Its location, adjacent to one of Hamilton's many waterfalls, makes it unique. However, the food, drink and service are always excellent and worth the visit.
