Menu includes Mediterranean classics as a Greek salad, grilled lamb chops and a swordfish kebab. There's a raw bar, and daily specials that might include Seafood, Artic Char, Monkfish, Lamb Shank or slow-cooked pork shoulder.
Good food good service
It was very expensive
The dj’s music was too loud
Because we had a little late reservation which was 9:30pm, the staff kind rush us out. But other than that everything was amazing!
i'm a repeat brunch customer because the food is great.
i've stopped going for dinner because the music is way too loud..........and i'm not old
When we arrived We were greeted by 2 women, one decidedly unfriendly, and told they couldn’t seat my guest and me upstairs, as I had requested. “Private party.” Why didn’t someone bother to make a quick phone call and let me know in advance? 1st floor very noisy, as expected. Table service was ‘ok’, not very attentive. Food was very good, although the appetizer arugula salad was enough to feed a table of 4.
One of the worse dinning experiences in NYC in the Las 15 years .
Not quite up to Avra Madison in any way, Anassa stakes its own claim. A bustling, ear-splitting room with a menu that offers decent, if not that many choices in its prix fixe lunch which is attractively priced. Service is extremely pleasant, if at times uninformed or spacy. Asked for a taste of a draft beer, instead got a whole glass. Asked for burger medium rare, mistakenly told it was already cooked with cheese inside: both untrue. Service was extremely slow, with 20 minute wait for starters, 30 minutes for entree. Avgolemono soup excellent, burger plate nice and a fine walnut cake for dessert. Others were pleased with their selections.
Excellent and pleasant service
Amazing place and nice food
Love this place.
Perfect for brunch or lunch in the neighborhood after a movie or a day shopping.
Service was very polite and our brunch selections (a salad and farmer's omelette) were well prepared. Nice touch was the hummus and delicious crusty bread on the table to start.
Excellent three-course Prix Fixe Lunch. Also Lunch Entree Salads were large and loaded.
Food was great. Service not so great.
Waiter was very good and attentive
The service was very slow and inattentive. The food was mediocre and not very authentic. Prices were high. Essentially we paid a lot of money for an experience that made me feel that I had missed the opportunity to have a memorable experience.
AMAZING food. Their octopus is tender and cooked extremely well. I got the Mediterranean fish (had a decent amount of bones), my date had the Sea Bass which was prepared very well and cane with a sauce that complimented it very well. Drinks were pretty overpriced, cheapest glass of wine was around $15 and beers were $9-$15.
Food came out very quickly but our waiter didn’t get us our bread or water until we were waiting about 10 minutes. He also barely came by to check on us or offer another drink when we were done. They looked busy, so wasn’t necessarily on him but they seemed short staffed.
Would 100% recommend to anyone, regardless of the average service the food is totally worth every penny.
I love this restaurant! I come here for the octopus appetizer, which is unlike anything else I’ve ever had anywhere - and after that I’m always delighted by whatever entree I choose. This time it was snapper baked in parchment and it was absolutely exquisite. The service is also terrific, and the whole experience is wonderful.
It’s one of my favorite restaurants in NY. Food and atmosphere is excellent there
This is quickly becoming my favorite Mediterranean restaurant. I love the atmosphere and the food and service are excellent.
This was a last minute dinner selection and was well worth it.
Food is consistently good. Noise level high but still enjoy this restaurant..
Wish we had a different server.
Our server kept trying to rush us.
Very good but very expensive
This is a great place. Friendly staff, fabulous food and great value. We’re from London and this restaurant is a great find. We now come here every time we go to New York!
Always love the food and ambience but it’s a little noisy!!
Despite a specific request at the reservation time, we did not get the table we wanted. The noise is too high not allowing a decent conversation and the food price is well beyond the expectations.
..the spinach pie was delicious! It’s fish is also very good.
What a great birthday treat! The salmon and the veggie chips were simply divine. The greek salad and meatballs were just delicious. A great place for a family gathering and a birthday celebration!
Very expensive for lunch but good food and service.
Great food and service ! Definitely highly recommended! Wide, varied menu comparable to Avra And Milos, bit more reasonable pricing and much more casual atmosphere.
Food came out way too fast. Barely into salad when entree brought. Incredibly noisy. Food good so experience ruined by service and ambiance.
We were unlucky enough to reserve for a Thursday eve, a night there's a DJ so there was deafening bass.
The dips were tasteless.
Shrimp moussaka was special - with eggplant and zucchini as the base - both delicious and fresh without being too heavy. Greek salad is, as expected, perfect with flavorful tomatoes (not always the case at other places). Wait staff is attentive but not overbearing and very friendly. Will definitely visit again.
Food was excellent. A little pricey. Nice ambience
This restaurant is in a great location and that's the only reason I go back. I have had better food for less money.
It's the noise level that is the worst for me. Having said that it is noisy at most NYC restaurants.
Great place, never Disappoints!!
Delicious food, oversized portions, but a bit too expensive to warrant a complete rave.
It’s was our professors” birthday party and we all enjoyed. Service is amazing as usual. Food is excellent meet lamb chops are wonderful and fish is huge selection on any ones choice.
Excellent service from hostess, waitress and manager who was welcome to all of our guests.
Thank u for great hospitality
Wait service was very slow to take our order. Then it took 45 minus before our food arrived -- it was an omelet and moussaka -- shouldn't have taken that long.
The omelet had one tiny piece of lox in it -- could barely see it.
Beside the food and ambiance, the service is the best. Very attentive.
every time I eat here, the waiter removes my plate which I finished, while my friend is still eating...that's a BIG NO NO at a good restaurant ! Bad manners.
