Menu includes Mediterranean classics as a Greek salad, grilled lamb chops and a swordfish kebab. There's a raw bar, and daily specials that might include Seafood, Artic Char, Monkfish, Lamb Shank or slow-cooked pork shoulder.
Great food and service ! Definitely highly recommended! Wide, varied menu comparable to Avra And Milos, bit more reasonable pricing and much more casual atmosphere.
Food came out way too fast. Barely into salad when entree brought. Incredibly noisy. Food good so experience ruined by service and ambiance.
We were unlucky enough to reserve for a Thursday eve, a night there's a DJ so there was deafening bass.
The dips were tasteless.
Shrimp moussaka was special - with eggplant and zucchini as the base - both delicious and fresh without being too heavy. Greek salad is, as expected, perfect with flavorful tomatoes (not always the case at other places). Wait staff is attentive but not overbearing and very friendly. Will definitely visit again.
Food was excellent. A little pricey. Nice ambience
This restaurant is in a great location and that's the only reason I go back. I have had better food for less money.
It's the noise level that is the worst for me. Having said that it is noisy at most NYC restaurants.
Great place, never Disappoints!!
Delicious food, oversized portions, but a bit too expensive to warrant a complete rave.
Wait service was very slow to take our order. Then it took 45 minus before our food arrived -- it was an omelet and moussaka -- shouldn't have taken that long.
The omelet had one tiny piece of lox in it -- could barely see it.
Beside the food and ambiance, the service is the best. Very attentive.
every time I eat here, the waiter removes my plate which I finished, while my friend is still eating...that's a BIG NO NO at a good restaurant ! Bad manners.
We have eaten at Anassa Taverna many times. The food is truly outstanding, the service friendly and attentive and just a little loud if the DJ is playing music. While we love this restaurant the prices are a bit steep and some might be in sticker shock when they view the menu. We always order and love their Anassa chips which is an appetizer priced at $22. Other than some pricey dishes, this is a place that is consistent and delicious.
It was a gear overall experience.
3rd time dining here and it is always very good.
Would definitely recommend if you are in the area.
Two friends and I wanted to talk and enjoy each other's company. The noise level was medium when we arrived at 6 pm and by 8 pm, it was unbearable. I cannot imagine anyone having an enjoyable dinner there. I will not go there again.
The best chicken
Little too loud w music
Should keep upstairs wuieter
The food and service are always good at Anassa, but some tables are less desirable than others. In particular, a group of tables for 2 in a narrow cul-de-sac along the 60 St window are a bit too narrow and a bit too loud for complete comfort. The inevitable bumps and brushes by staff and other patrons trying to negotiate the narrow aisle wear a bit after a while.
Our waiter was exceptional.
We didn’t like the table we we seated at. It was the first time this happened. Besides this time it’s one of my favorite restaurants. I miss Roberto.
Amazing food !
The food was wonderful. The greek salad, grilled calamari, and seafood were fresh and delicious.
All parties of 2 were seated in a very narrow and close area. We were lucky to have arrived early before all the tables were full.
Lamb Chops was delicious.. Good Spot to visit during restaurant week.
The food and atmosphere were good except that other lobster entree was a ripped off as we had like a tiny teeny bite of the lobster only.
This was my first time at this establishment for restaurant week. The decor and atmosphere was very nice. The food was excellent but my group had a slow start due to the lack of attentiveness from our staffer at the beginning of the night. I notice other guests were being service that arrived after my party, which I did mention to my staffer. When I am spending money, I expect to be treated the same as other guests. The food was great but the lack of attentiveness from my staffer caused me to rate with three stars.
Dark, Extremely noisy and very tight accommodations. The food was fair and if you want to be rushed through your dinner, this is the place to go. We were half through our appetizer and the dinner arrived.
I will not return, I would not recommend, I would avoid, too many great options in NYC
My daughters and I always dine during restaurant week. This is our second visit to this establishment.. great food and excellent service.
We were seated in the street section which is very dark and cramped. Had to use a flashlight to read menu Previously we sat in the dining area which we expected to get but we’re disaapointed to wind up in the dark. Service and food quality were good but the experience was very bad
I love their Greek salad, but feel it is over priced
Went here with my sister for Restaurant Week & so glad we did! Service was friendly & attentive. We opted for the grilled octopus and lobster moussaka which were both incredibly delicious and filling! That grilled octopus was PERFECTION! The cherry on top was the Galaktoboureko.. I’m in love!
As per my ratings, this is a very good restaurant on all counts (straight 4-star). I dined with my wife and daughter and we all loved our food and enjoyed the experience. Definitely would return. Not a "gourmet" "high end" restaurant with all that implies (including price) (which is why I do not give 5 stars), but if you want really delicious, non-pretentious food in a nice restaurant, you will love this place. And by the way, this food, while not pretentious is definitely not pedestrian fare - the lobster moussaka was an inventive twist that was melt-in-your-mouth fabulous, and the grilled octopus was several cuts above ordinary. Highly recommended.
The food was amazing! Very fresh ingredients and balance of flavors! Everyone was happy with what they ordered. Cheesecake was awesome!
Food great. Service very good. Downstairs music too loud. Had to move upstairs.
Great location in NYC.
My husband and I eat here all the time, it’s the most Authentic Greek restaurant in NYC! Food is amazing.
I went here for restaurant week with my family and the food and service was outstanding
We did the lunch course during restaurant week and everything was delicious. Their table bread was fresh and crisp. The artic char and Chilean sea bass were absolutely delicious!
Service was excellent. Entree selections covered beef, fish & vegetarian. The fish entrees we enjoyed, were excellent.
Always a great choice. Have never been disappointed. Excellent authentic Greek food to ensure you keep your healthy Mediterranean diet regime! Lovely atmosphere convenient to get to and a neighborhood gem!
A little loud and a tiny bit cramped but Food was delish. Waitress was attentive. I would definitely go again.
The food is consistently good. Great value for restaurant week as well
