Anassa Taverna Ratings and Reviews
Nice restaurant across from
Bloomingdales. The service was terrific for our party of 9. Four guests were late and we were still given our table! So nice. We were there for almost three hours. Coffee cups were consistently refilled as were water glasses. Lovely service. Good food!
I am a big fan of Mediterranean and Greek food and Anassa Taverna didn't disappoint in that category. The food was excellent. I met a colleague there for a business lunch and though the food was great, the restaurant was incredibly noisy and so made it a bit difficult to talk over all the other chatter. Not sure if that's a fair critique since we were there at the height of the lunch hour. So as long as you're going for a good meal, I don't think you'll go wrong here. If you're choosing Taverna for a business meeting, you may want to consider someplace a little quieter.
Always a great meal here! The fish is front and center and there are also other options, meat and poultry. The apps are just great. We're so full we never get to dessert ! The service is really good - friendly, nice and super efficient wait staff. Great atmosphere, relaxing and dark and comforting.
Could anassa taverna have the best grilled octopus in NYC? YES it does! Tender, tasteful and lightly dressed it was a terrific and substantial first course. The spreads were as good as you'd find in any Greek island taverna... Tzasiki perfect, the Tarama briny yet not too salty and the eggplant just the right amount of smoky flavor. The grilled loup de mer was simply prepared...fresh and sweet. Wish this restaurant was in my neighborhood---I'd be there regularly.
My wife and I went on a Friday evening. They had a DJ and the music was ear-splitting. We had to leave right after sitting down because we could not hear each other -- and that was after asking to be seated by the window so we'd have less noise. Do not take my ratings as evaluations of the food or anything else besides the noise. We were forced by the website to put in ratings for each category, even though we did not wind up dining here.
Our lunch was delicious. The hummus served gratis with olive oil drizzled bread was the best I've ever had. Unlike some Mediterranean preparations, the chef did not overly rely on garlic, and flavor did not suffer. We both had the classic Greek salad, mine with perfectly seasoned and cooked shrimp. Though it was a bit pricey for a lunch with no cocktails or wine, the great food, sunny, open dining room, and excellent service will bring me back.
fresh fish. one of the greatest octopus i have tasted in New York just delicious,
we had this amazing assyrtiko from santorini. the food was served promptly and the service was efficient, overall a great experience, A must return for all of us when we shop in bloomis.
My girlfriend and I had dinner after theater at Anassa. The service and food quality was exceptionally good. We weren't rushed and enjoyed speaking with their team of waiters/waitresses. We shared meatballs and also Beets appetizers. then great shrimp Greek style finished with the custard pie. Scrumptuous
You can not go wrong at this popular neighborhood gem. We always
have the same appetizers to share: meatballs, mussels and Anassas chips and the same main to share: fish for 2 and crab cake. We love that there is booth seating and our friend who loves a block away always says this is a hot spot at night. Can't wait to eat here again. So authentic!
Love this place! Freshest fish, cooked perfectly every time. The most extraordinary tomatoes ( even in the winter!) in their delicious Greek salad- beautiful bread and humus on the table is delicious. This is one of the best restaurants in the neighborhood- Sometimes I'll eat at the bar which is actually comfortable and quick. Great staff! Service is attentive, and friendly, but never intrusive. A bit noisy when it's busy ( most of the time, understandably) but it never stops me from going.
we Love dining at Anassa Taverna. the wait staff, the hostess, Roberto and Victor they all know us since we frequent the restaurant 1-2 times a week. The food is amazing from the octopus, to the tuna tartare, Greek salad, pork shoulder and the freshest fish prepared perfectly every time. thank you guys!
Anassa Taverna always good, consistent, reliable, with 10+ years experience of going here regularly. Can rest assured every time we book, it will be a decent experience. Staff seem to be getting better even, as well as the food being super good and tasty. Portions are not massive, which is good, as they are a big enough size for any normal person. The location opposite Bloomingdales also helps!
Excellent, fresh food severed in a spacious, quiet restaurant. On a nice day the windows and walls open up for dining both inside and outside. A nice breeze gently blows through and you feel like you are dining in Greece. Prixed fixed and daily options. There is an upstairs for private parties.
Staff was pleasant and accommodating. Had to wait quite a while for food but it was the height of the Sunday Brunch time. Eggs Benedict were served HARD BOILED. Had to send dish back. Restaurant is overpriced on some dishes. Eggs B were served with some greens ; no potatoes. $ 17 too high priced. Very good coffee.
