Menu includes Mediterranean classics as a Greek salad, grilled lamb chops and a swordfish kebab. There's a raw bar, and daily specials that might include Seafood, Artic Char, Monkfish, Lamb Shank or slow-cooked pork shoulder.
The food was amazing, while the noise level was perfect upstairs to where you can have real conversations. So glad my friend introduced me to Anassa!
We are regular customers at Anassa Taverna because of location and because we enjoy the food and service very much. There are a few good wines by the glass and a fairly large array by the bottle including some great Greek wines. The vegetable chips are great but require a long wait as made fresh. Always share a Greek salad while you wait. Daily specials are terrific and the fresh fish are usually our choice. Even the coffee meets our expectations.
I’ve received a notice from you that I didn’t dine at Anassa last night as we had made a reservation
For 2, we were there & enjoyed a very lively dinner!! If I had to change my plans, I certainly would have cancelled, but we did certainly honor our reservation. Esther Ades
Salad was just some greens and a huge tomato cut in quarters. Booooooring.
Spanakopita was tasty.
Waiter was uninterested - maybe if we had ordered drinks or more pricey food he would have cared. Oh well...
There's not much around that neighborhood for real, sit down meal. Expensive for what it is.
Fabulous valentines dinner
Nice place. Actually makes a real Greek salad (there is no lettuce). Dressing is incredible. They seem to know what they're doing.... Been going for years
Delicious fresh fish. Appetizers also outstanding. Large portions
Great experience but the venue was loud music and people talking over the music
Food was good waitress wasn’t helpful
Went there for a business lunch. Conversation was excellent. The food was amazing. Worth going back for dinner.
AT Is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. Unfortunately they ran out of the grilled red snapper for two so we ordered salads instead.
I will continue to have dinner at AT.
I love his restaurant so much that I have decided to comeback for Valentine's day with my wife. Food was great and service.
The waiter seemed annoyed when we asked questions, was not attentive, and stopped serving us without notification in the middle of the dining experience.
The Octopus Salad is the best ever. Wow! And yes, our server was magnificent! Thank you.
Good in general. Hostess at the door is not trained for receiving patrons as she seemed more interested in the phone calls. No greeting at all. Manager had to come to take care of the arriving patrons.
Service is very good and attentive.
A step above most neighborhood places. It never disappoints.
VERY VERY NOISY!!! Host was informed that it was a Birthday dinner. He did nothing! Did not remind waiter.
This is a very attractive restaurant, with a very comfortable feeling even when it is crowded. The menu is interesting, the food delicious, and the service prompt and unobtrusive. We had to wait a little while for out coffee at the end, but it did not diminish our enjoyment of the lunchtime meal.
Delicious as always. Fresh, authentic. Where do they get such good tomatoes in the middle dole of winter?
Superb authentic Mediterranean food, great service, good acoustics so you can hear each other talking, would highly recommend this fabulous Greek restaurant!!
Fabulous food ! Where else can you get a really red ripe delicious tomatoes in a salad in the winter???? Tender flavorful octopus, grilled fish to perfection and a generous pour for your drinks! Excellent wine list too.
I definitely enjoyed my birthday at Anassa Taverna. I was pleased that we were seated so quickly. The service and food were very good. They also had a live DJ. I will be back with my friends. It’s also very close to my job, so I anticipate bringing clients there as well.
Food was excellent! Nice ambiance and great service.
Delicious but pricey for a tavern!
Love the food and the service.
Consistently amazing Greek Cuisine with dual level dining, great music and comfortable and fun atmosphere.
I come to this restaurant often because the food is so fresh. I always have the Greek salad and the Loup de mar. It is so delicious that I sometimes have dreams about it. Just a lovely experience.
Everything was good except the octopus which is what I was looking forward to the most, unfortunately it was overdone and several pieces were rock hard from being charred. The other 3 dishes were good though!
Always a delicious meal at Anassa.

Outstanding food and cheerful staff on a very busy Friday night. What could be better?
Could be better overall.
Food was fine - nothing special. For some reason, it feels sloppy tired. Good menu but very pricey for the quality.
Maybe because of the location ( high traffic, touristy ) they don't think they have to compete with Avra and some other Mediterranean restaurants - but the others are much better.
It is one of our favorite restaurants in NYC! It has never disappointed and the food is always so wonderful!
Amazing time every time we eat here. Food is excellent and service awesome. Bruno is our favorite waiter. Over the top excellent.
Requested main level, because no elevator. We were falsely told our guests requested upstairs - they had not! Food was not hot, service was lacking - and they were not that busy on upstairs level, so no excuse. This was always a favorite neighborhood gem. Sad to see deterioration.
Felt a bit rush after our lunch from the waiter. not a nice feeling to have him hover while filling out the check.
Everything was wonderful!
Food was great as always but the service was terrible. One of our parties meals was completely forgotten about, the staff basically ignored us the whole night. We had to keep asking for everything.
delicious food but this restaurant is pricey and it is very noisy and the tables and chairs and layout are uncomfortable. The atmosphere and arrangement are equivalent to a Greek dinner but at restaurant prices
The service was inattentive and slow. Had to ask for basic items. Bad attitude by server.
