An Urban Table Ratings and Reviews
Very accommodating. Our reservation initially was for 3 people and grew to 5 at the last minute. Your staff was helpful to find a time when we could be seated. Also one of our party arrived much later but your people were so understanding and did not try at any time to rush us - and it was very busy. Will certainly return and recommend.
Came here for Sunday brunch; luckily it wasn’t packed and we were able to get a table in the covered patio area. Tables are a bit close for my taste but it still worked overall. We had the Monte Carlo sand which; was a bit dry and the ham a bit too salty. The jam that came with was delicious !
A great dinner at Urban Table. I can't say enough about the pork chop! By far the best one I have ever had. And as aleways the brussel sprouts were delicious. Our waiter suggested the artichoke fritters, and they were INCREDIBLE! After a so-so experience last time, this dinner delivered! Actually exceeded my expectations! My only complaint is that the small, skinny type on the menu is difficult to read, particularly in the very poor lighting above and around our table. You may need to use the flashlight on your phone like I did to read the menu.
We regularly go to Urban for brunch. One of our favs in the city. Tried it for Valentine’s night casual dinner and was not disappointed. The chicken meatball app was amazing with a little cream, basil and spinach. Both had pasta- which is hand made— literally some of the best I have ever had in KC. Parpadelle and the cacio e peppi would both highly recommend. Seriously impressed with how good food was last night. Sat at bar and had incredibly attentive service.
My husband’s Ahi Tuna was not fresh. The hostess first seated us out in porch area, it was too warm, as overhead heaters were running and sun was shining through windows. We asked to be moved inside as it was much cooler inside. Waiter was great. Food was disappointing for one of us.
We had been to Urban Table several times before -- for dinner, brunch and lunch. All previous experiences were excellent. It's been over a year since the last time we ate there but decided to go back for dinner during a recent date night. We were surprised by two things - 1. how cold the restaurant was inside. When we asked about this, the server said, I think the furnace isn't working...it's having a hard time keeping up. 2. we didn't realize the menu had changed so drastically. When the server greeted us and asked if we had been there before, he explained they changed the menu about 6 months ago to "Italian". Based on our previous experiences, we didn't think twice about it...until the food came.
We ordered the Short Rib Ragu with potato gnocchi, chili flakes, and ricotta. This dish was a complete disappointment. The gnocchi were so large and dense, they were impossible to eat. And with no flavor whatsoever, we were quick to push it aside once we finished the small portion of short rib -- maybe 5% of the dish.
We also ordered the chicken parmigiana. This is hard to get wrong but, unfortunately, they did. The chicken was overcooked and the bucatini that was served on the side had zero flavor. Come on UT. If you're gonna to go Italian, you gotta be able to serve a decent chicken parm.
Lastly, we ordered a side of spaghetti squash. Not only was the presentation not appetizing, there was also no taste. It was cooked with sautéed kale, roasted tomatoes, herb butter, and parmesan. The tomatoes were juicy but the rest was just a big pile of "blah". We took two bites and didn't touch it again.
It's disappointing when restaurants go downhill. Hopefully they'll look into some of the issues and make corrections. Unfortunately, I won't be dining there again.
Went to brunch here last weekend. I've been a couple times before, but it's pretty consistent. The food is 3-stars, but the service and drinks would be 4 or 5. I got the corned beef hash, and it was just okay. My friend said her salad was just okay too. We got mimosas which were made just as we had asked. Our waiter was great, very attentive. I like coming for brunch here because it's a fun spot...just wish the food was better.
Took 20 mins for waiter, 45 mins for food to arrive. Got wrong food after specifically asking for gf option. Didn’t get ordered drinks. Loud, couldn’t talk, Sat afternoon. Altho the drive was 30 mins, convinced my group this was a great place. Been there once before and had a great experience so recommending but at your own risk. Making a reservation was easy and respected.
We arrived early and were seated right away. The service was ok. Our waiter did not ask if we wanted refills on our mimosas. In fairness to him he also had a large party, probablyly 10+ on the other side of the restaurant. Food came out quickly. The corned beef hash was very good. The quiche was very bland. What little flavor ingredients were placed on top. So it was mostly a one inch piece of processed egg. The crust was very good. Rhe restaurant is very noisy.
We have been to UT many times over the years, but their change in mains to mostly pasta is a winner! Bar service was good, table service was good for a busy friday night. My main complaint, and it’s an old one, is it is too noisy. There is no attempt at all to soften the noise with acoustic material. Perhaps that’s part of the “Urban” feel, though in a decidedly suburban environment. You just shouldn’t have talk loudly to be heard in a restaurant, IMO. But I’ll be back!
I love this place, the food is really good and the service is outstanding. Upon arrival, we were seated in the indoor terrace and after we "mentioned" it was a little chilly for us, they accommodate us in the dinning room inside, as soon as a table was available. Our friend was 1 hour late and the staff, again, was flexible and understanding. On top of that, cocktails are great and the place is modern and comfortable. A hot spot for weekend brunch. I can only find a con: it is quite noisy with the music and the conversation but even with that, this is a "must-go" for us when we are in the area.
All four of us went to an Urban Table thinking that we would have a good experience, but it was far from that. Each of us had something wrong with our entrees. The papperdelle had meat that was in large tough chunks and could not be cut. The gnocchi was very dense, so much so that my husband could not eat it. It was unlike any gnocchi we had ever had. The udon noodles had three full jalapeño peppers, making it over the top spicy. My pasta dish was very small and tasteless because it did not have enough of any of the ingredients - pasta, cheese, cream, basil, pepper, and red pepper flakes. We will not be going back. The only good thing about the meal was the wine.
