An Urban Table Ratings and Reviews
In reviewing the menu of several restaurant options in the area, the menu for Urban Table looked inviting; I like the concept of local and clean eating. I started with the chili and my dining companion had the roasted red pepper soup. Both bowls came out cool - cannot even say they were luke warm. It took so long to flag the waitress and get her attention that we kept eating (flavor was good, would have been great if hot). When we informed her she appreciated the information and would relay it to the kitchen, but no real apology or offer to make it right. I then had the chicken tacos. I was excited, because the waitress promised some kick. A few issues - they were nearly flavorless, and the moisture/liquid in the tacos soaked through the corn tortillas and they fell apart; quite messy. I walked away full but entirely unsatisfied. There are too many good options in this area to have me return.
This was our first visit since it transitioned to its Italian menu. Menu was interesting, our food was good. The chairs are a nice upgrade from the old metal chairs of the past. Service was a bit slow. And the main dining room was very loud. We had requested the outer room, but they accidentally sat another party at our reserved table and we had to eat in the main dining area.
Overall, it was a nice evening out with a friend, but not as good an experience as all the times we ate there before.
We have eaten at this restaurant several times. Our most recent visit was a horrible experience. Elizabeth struggled with the drink order, the food order and the delivery of the food. The appetizer course came first followed by the salad, main course and vegetables all being delivered at once. The food was good but the pathetic service made us want to leave immediately.
This was our first visit to Urban Table and we enjoyed our visit and the food very much. We both had pasta entrees that were unique and excellent, and the Monkey Bread appetizer was even better than friends told us it would be. Our server, Britt, did an excellent job of leading us through our first visit, making us feel welcome and making good suggestions. I'm sure we will return.
No complaint with food or service. Only complaint to management is that there were six of us and all six black chairs were so broken in in the seat that we felt we couldn't reach the table comfortably. LOL We asked to exchange chairs for six others (tan ones at another table) and they were just fine.
Need to get the coffee station fixed. Two weeks in a row-no coffee and no decaf. Wait staff must be new??? No decaf was brought to table until we got the bill! Last week it too 15 minutes to get regular coffe, then it was served in paper cups because no clean mugs? At 10:00 am?!?
Ambiance was nice. It was definitely a place that locals like. Unfortunately, I prefer my bloody Mary to taste like more than bland tomato juice and while some of the food was great, I've had omelets at Embassy Suites that were more impressive than their "omelet of the day". Generally, just a bland cuisine.
Urban Table has been "slipping" when it comes to service. I tried to modify my reservation the morning of because two people in our party of four were sick. I couldn't do it through Open Table without cancelling the reservation. When I let the hostess know, she was snippy. The waiter was hurried and curt the entire time. It was a holiday weekend, but no busier than the average brunch crowd (I know because we go to brunch there often). I asked for sour cream on the side for my breakfast tacos (which I get all the time w/sour cream) and the waiter was very annoyed. My friend asked for regular Maple syrup for her toast, which annoyed him as well. When the dish arrived there was no maple syrup. The food was good this time, but lately, it's been not quite as good as in the past. I'm sorry to say that we might have to make Room 39 our new "go to" brunch spot even though it's a farther drive for us.
Disappointed! Service was bad. It seemed our waiter was given too many groups all at the same time. Had to ask for beverages repeatedly. Sunday brunch was highly recommended so we took my husband there for his birthday. Several menu items were no longer available. The noise level made it very difficult to carry on a conversation. There was a loud group right behind us on the other side of the window opening. Was so glad when they left ... unfortunately, it was towards the end of our own meal. might try it it again during an "off" time as several friends had spoken highly of the place.
The food was excellent, as was the service. The bruschetta appetizer was tasty, the ahi tuna salad was delightful, and the short rib ragu was exquisite. The cocktail menu is fun and original, with good seasonal beer variety on draught. Only complaint: we were seated outside (at our request) and the busy Friday night at the shopping center meant a constant stream of people squeezing past (and even in between) the restaurant tables which take up the entire sidewalk. It was also super loud. Perhaps some attention could be given to how that's set up. So don't go there for romantic date night. But honestly, a great meal and a fun place.
