An Urban Table Ratings and Reviews
We visited Urban Table for Tuesday Date Night. We tried a varied assortment of small plates. The broccolini & brussel sprouts were just ok. The meat & the chicken meatballs were great. The spaghetti squash was tasty. Our server was EXCEPTIONAL -- very attentive, always making sure our water glasses were full, plates were cleared, & we had everything we needed.
Urban Table has a new comfier chairs and a new menu that is very good. They have added several new entrees. I tried the Shrimp Oreganata and thought it was delicious. My husband said his salmon was also really good. We were disappointed that a few things were already sold out by the time we ordered, which was about 7:30 on a Saturday night. The tuna, filet and gorgonolza mashed potatoes were all unavailable. To have that happen so early on a Saturday night was frustrating. I think they also need more fish/seafood items. That being said, I rarely eat beef or pork at a restaurant. Overall, though, the menu has a lot more good options and all the food was tasty--including the garlic monkey bread--yum. Had a good Pinot Noir and enjoyed our server. It was a great night and we will definitely go back!
Our entrees were good. The waiter, first day, delivered a grilled chicken sandwich instead of the ordered chicken salad sandwich. Was corrected quickly enough. Both of us chose the house salad as the "choice of." Hard to imagine anything more disappointing or less imaginative: arugula with grated parmesan. There was no description of the house salad anywhere. Must have been too embarrassing to put in print. It must have cost one or two cents total, as opposed to the other, labor-intensive options of coleslaw, fries or sweet fries. They've got to do better with that. Despite the tasty entrees (chicken salad sandwich and quinoa burger), we're not interested in returning. For the price, it wasn't a value.
In reviewing the menu of several restaurant options in the area, the menu for Urban Table looked inviting; I like the concept of local and clean eating. I started with the chili and my dining companion had the roasted red pepper soup. Both bowls came out cool - cannot even say they were luke warm. It took so long to flag the waitress and get her attention that we kept eating (flavor was good, would have been great if hot). When we informed her she appreciated the information and would relay it to the kitchen, but no real apology or offer to make it right. I then had the chicken tacos. I was excited, because the waitress promised some kick. A few issues - they were nearly flavorless, and the moisture/liquid in the tacos soaked through the corn tortillas and they fell apart; quite messy. I walked away full but entirely unsatisfied. There are too many good options in this area to have me return.
This was our first visit since it transitioned to its Italian menu. Menu was interesting, our food was good. The chairs are a nice upgrade from the old metal chairs of the past. Service was a bit slow. And the main dining room was very loud. We had requested the outer room, but they accidentally sat another party at our reserved table and we had to eat in the main dining area.
Overall, it was a nice evening out with a friend, but not as good an experience as all the times we ate there before.
We have eaten at this restaurant several times. Our most recent visit was a horrible experience. Elizabeth struggled with the drink order, the food order and the delivery of the food. The appetizer course came first followed by the salad, main course and vegetables all being delivered at once. The food was good but the pathetic service made us want to leave immediately.
This was our first visit to Urban Table and we enjoyed our visit and the food very much. We both had pasta entrees that were unique and excellent, and the Monkey Bread appetizer was even better than friends told us it would be. Our server, Britt, did an excellent job of leading us through our first visit, making us feel welcome and making good suggestions. I'm sure we will return.
No complaint with food or service. Only complaint to management is that there were six of us and all six black chairs were so broken in in the seat that we felt we couldn't reach the table comfortably. LOL We asked to exchange chairs for six others (tan ones at another table) and they were just fine.
