aMuse- Le Meridien Hotel- Philadelphia Ratings and Reviews
The place was empty other than our table of six and one other table of three. Now we know why. Two of our six meals were cold or not as ordered. The other meals were mediocre at best. The wait staff was friendly but disappeared at great lengths. Simple requested items (grated cheese for kids’ pasta, bread, etc) took forever to get. They did replace a steak that was cooked wrong, but by the time the replacement steak arrived, everyone else had long since finished their meals. They did remove that item from the bill, and were apologetic, but it was a bust of a night and it was pricey to boot.
Reading the reviews it seemed like people either loved or hated this place - nothing much in between. We LOVED it! I was shocked on a Saturday evening to be the ONLY couple in the restaurant! There were wedding receptions in another room but NO ONE in the dining room. We started with the fresh seafood tower - perfect. I had the ricotta ravioli - absolutley delicious (it got a bad review from someone else) My husband had the classic pizza - again delicious and creative! The staff was delightful. The smoked cocktail: Wisp of Smoke Boulevardier was just as I had hoped. The apple tatin with vanilla bean gelato was the perfect ending! Location might be a block or so off the popular streets but SO worth a few blocks walk. I don't get it! Any negative reviews of this establishment seem completely unfounded.
Wanted to love this place but was really disappointed. I didn't finish most of my food including creme brûlée and that's not typical for me😊. Other reviewers were either super positive or super negative so I wonder if they have two chefs and I got the bleh one.
There is so much unrealized potential here. Beautiful high ceiling, gorgeous wood paneled walls. But: tables like Denny's, cheap ugly terrazzo floor, horrible lighting. The steak was good, the blue bernaise sauce was just weird. Service was decent, and the smoked Manhattan was great ! Needs work.
This was one of my parties least favorite restaurants for Restaurant Week. I order the Mac and Cheese with the Lump Crab meat. My dish came with NO Lump Crab meat. I had to send back. I was giving the same dish with a Little bit of crab meat. Should not have been consider as a main dish. This was a side dish. To top off the meal I got the mini Éclairs. They were TINY Éclairs. My mother in-law did not like any of her food either. We will not come back to this restaurants.
We went there to celebrate my birthday during Restaurant week. The restaurant is located in a hallway of the Méridien hotel. It looks like a lounge, rather than a legit restaurant.
We ordered three prix fixe menus consisting of French onion soup, steak frites, and tarte tatin for dessert. The soup was very salty, the steak had some gravy that we never asked for. The desserts were just ok.
I had also asked for a cafe latte to go with a dessert. The coffee never came after 10 minutes so I decided to foregorhe coffee. Then came the bill. They had charged us for the three additional soups on top of the price for each menu! By this time, I just wanted to get out of there- but had to wait again for a copy of the receipt!
Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place for any celebration. It is just a lounge-based bar, maybe just good for tapas.
Happy hour was great with a very accommodating young lady as bartender and the beautiful atmosphere. The added touch was a great DJ with music that was entertaining, but not intrusive to conversations. Dinner: food was very good, but our waiter was a bit disorganized. I would definitely go again.
I arrived a few minutes early for my 6:30pm reservation and was warmly met by the greeters who opened very door for me. The hostess was equally charming.
The waiter was very nice and accommodating so we did not complain about the wait for bread and out meals to hit the table. The bar tender experimented until he made me a drink that I could tolerate.
I think there is a happy hour as people were crowded around the bar and there was a DJ. However the music did not spill over into the dining area and we were able to comfortably converse.
The bathrooms were awesome, red tiles with the sink in the same cubicle as the toilet.
I don't have pictures as my temporary phone took crappy pictures.
Was really dissapointed in the service and the amount of time my party spent waiting. My steak was not cooked the way I wanted it to be and we were promised 3 eclairs and only received 2. They also ran out of the flavor sorbet we wanted. Overall experience was not great and the amount of time we spent waiting was not appreciated. We will not come back again.
Great Food and excellent service! Our server was friendly and attentive! The host/ manager Andre was attentive and accommodating! We chose aMuse to try something new for restaurant week, and we definitely plan to return soon and tell our friends to dine here too!!Definitely a hidden gem!
We went to aMuse for a Restaurant Week lunch, and were not disappointed. The food was very well prepared and provided in generous portions. The staff were friendly, though a little distracted - they forgot to bring us bread until too late. As it was restaurant week, the meal was extremely good value - the regular menu would be more expensive. I had a classic French bistro lunch of soupe a l'oignon and steak frites. Both excellent.
When I first walked in, I wasnt greeted by anyone. Found my way to the 'seating area' or 6 tables....
There were about 3 servers, very nice. But were too busy to get our orders quickly or offer any type of customer service.
I ordered the Tuna tartare. It was made with Tomatoes and cucumber mostly. And they hide the Tuna so well with the tomato you hardly get any tuna. It was very disappointing.
The bread that was offered, probably microwaved because it got rock hard after about 30 secs out of the paper bag it was in.
I got the steak, med-rear. It was very chewy compared to my friend's dish who ordered medium. So we switched so I could stop complaining.
The water cups were purple. So our cups werent refilled. Although I noticed the water jugs behind us. Wasnt sure if I should have got up and refilled it myself.
I had been waiting a long time to visit, but I wont be back.
3 of us went to aMuse for lunch on the first day of Restaurant week. They were not crowded/busy, but the service was off. Our drinks, Bloody Marys, were served without any garnish and they didn't come until well into the main course. The onion soup was OK, not great, and was served in a broken crock that was missing a part of its base. The flank steak was perfectly cooked (medium rare) and tender but the sauce, though tasty, was lukewarm and gelid. The main course was delivered to the table before 2 of us had finished eating our appetizers. The mango sorbet and the mini-eclairs were good. Perhaps they weren't ready or up-to-speed for restaurant week. I would go again to give them a second chance.
The drinks and appetizers were very good (onion soup and crab and tuna tower). The main entrees had no taste. I ordered the specialty Steak Frites. The fries were good but the steak was chewy and not seasoned. The sauce on top also had no taste or seasoning. My husband got the ravioli with mushrooms. The mushrooms were good but the filling of the ravioli, drenched in too much butter, had no taste or seasoning.
The waiter was nice, the room was well decor and the manager was extremely accommodating. It was a groupon so he couldn't comp the meal so he offered dessert and drinks on the house but by then we were ready to leave.
We were promptly seated and the waiter immediately came by with water and to take our drink order. Drinks are very generous! We shared a calamari, which was lightly breaded and fried to perfection and great tasting. It was more than enough to share for two. I ordered the steak frites and my husband ordered the chicken dish with mozzarella and greens on top. Both entrees were large portions and delicious - we both took home doggie bags for another meal. Our waiter was very attentive and took good care of us. We have been here many times and the food has always been very good. I was surprised that the dining room had moved directly across the lobby to a nice little cove with modern decor. Very cozy.
The setting and service was nice but each course of the food left something to be desired. The calamari had nice sweet chili flavor but a rubbery over cooked texture. The filet was ordered medium rare and came out well done. The molten lava cake dessert was just okay. Perhaps it was an off night for the chef. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone in town based off of my experience there.
