Amuse Ratings and Reviews
We made our reservation at Amuse for Valentine's dinner. When we arrived the main dining room was closed and there was no one to check in with. It seemed like it might be possible to get something to eat at the bar in the lobby of the hotel, but it was certainly not what we had expected for a special dinner. We left. Won't be going back.
The picture of the restaurant in the picture is dishonest. Shame on the hotel and on open table. On arriving, we were told that the pictured room was only for breakfast and lunch. We were seated in a mostly empty area between the bar and the elevators. Nobody told me that we were eating in the hotel lobby. Food was fine but that does not overcome my disappointment at the bait and switch. I was out with a friend who was looking for a celebratory dinner.
I now see that there were lots of reviews saying the same thing. I wish that open table and the hotel had the integrity to put a real picture of the space on the site.
We came here for brunch. Did not have a good experience from the start. The server nor the manager knew what guilt city was (i.e. groupon or livingsocial kind of deal). It took about 30min for them to figure it out which meant that we didn't even order for 30min while we sat there. When we did order, it took the food about 25 min to come out. Brunch food should not take longer than 10-15, there was barely anyone dinning there or eating the buffet. We got the french toast and eggs benedict. The french toast said it came with real maple syrup but what I got was the fake stuff. When I asked the chef about it she had no idea what I was talking about so I gave up and just ate it without any condiment. Food was nothing fancier than I could make at home. Bloody marry was more like tomato juice and way too much horseradish. Service was pretty terrible. I would not come here again.
The doors were locked when we arrived for our 12:30 PM Mother's Day reservation (though there were a few diners inside) and we were told that we would have to dine in the hotel lobby instead of the restaurant. We were allowed in to the restaurant only after I firmly objected. The food and service were both of poor quality. I will never return to this restaurant or recommend it to others.
Although a dinner menu is posted on line, there is no restaurant , just dinner menu served in bar and elevator space. Bar also services room service delivery. Certainly not a place as a destination meal - maybe neighborhood, or if staying at hotel. Understaffed before 6:00, then ok. (We were trying to eat early to make a movie). Kitchen also seemed slow to provide food.
We made a reservation here through Open Table for Thanksgiving day a week in advance. The only time that was available was 4:30pm.
A few things we noticed upon arrival:
1. The restaurant is in a hotel
2. There were maybe three people seated in the restaurant
3. There was a breakfast buffet table left out
4. No one was interested in actually serving us
After waiting around for 10 minutes or so, we took off.
Friend had caprese salad. She liked ok. She forgot she doesn't care for arugula and should have replaced with a different green. We both had the clam chowder which was good. We shared the fried calamari which although in abundance was unremarkable. Vodka martini was as I wanted it. Sam Adams seasonal lager on tap in chilled glasses was quite good. Service was attentive. Good staff.
we were seated and then left alone. Ultimately because no one came over to serve us we got up and left. Nobody noticed. The restaurant was virtually empty and there were other servers around.hopefully we were in the middle of a shift change or there was some other excuse. we can't rate the food because we never had any.
Sidney's Grille is impressive, especially as a hotel restaurant, for the service. Extremely well-served, with the sense that glasses are filled and dishes arrive with a subtle grace and very slight interruption to dinner conversation. A great recommendation for an off-menu t-bone steak alternative really was excellent. This is a really pretty good restaurant which is not very crowded, so a great place to go when you want to have a private dinner with great food and service.
my wife and I had a great meal here. I had the fillet which was cooked perfectly and she had the smoked salmon which she really enjoyed. Overall it was a great value. The wine and beer definitely look to be a little overpriced, but the food was fairly priced. The service was great, but the place was completely empty.
The place was empty on a Friday night, and that's why we were able to get a last minute reservation. The scallops I ordered were a small portion (3) and covered with Chorizo and bacon, which wasn't t my liking, but maybe I just ordered the wrong dish. The filet seemed to be well prepared and the chocolate lava cake tasted funny. But the salted caramel ice cream dessert was yummy.Good Cappuciono! I loved the Smarties at the desk instead of mints. Le Meridian Hotel lobby was pretty. We sat facing the bar with several TVs, so it added a casual feel to the place. Good service. Pretty decor.
Our group of six had a very good experience with Sydney's Grille. We were staying in the hotel (Le Meridien, Cambridge) and it was a very rainy day, so we decided to avoid walking. We had a very good experience. Everyone in the group was very happy with their selection. We also had a drink about 11:00 PM the night before and the bartender was very accommodating.
For the price food is mediocre and the service poor. The restaurant is big and I can see it is empty everytime I pass by. It is actually part of the Meridien hotel in Cambridge and probably only still opened because of that. If you walk a couple of minutes you can find much better restaurants in Central square in the same price range.
I have eaten here on two occasions, once for breakfast and once for dinner. It was very quiet for dinner but I guess it was out of season for visitors.
Dinner was good; the lobster mac & cheese is definite recommendation ! I went back for breakfast (staying at hotel) and was very dissappointed. The prices were really expensive and the quality of food was pretty poor, especially for the price. I ordered a waffle which was really dry and stale-tasting. My husband ordered the eggs benedict and was also dissappointed. If I stayed at the hotel again, I would definitely look elsewhere for breakfast.
On a positive note, the staff were wonderful !
